According to Josina Anderson for Fox 31 sports, the Dolphins who were almost forced to bring Dan Marino out of retirement to play quarterback today have contacted Russell to schedule a workout. -

I think you have to flip over the rock...well boulder that is JaMarcus Russell, even if just for a workout.

Now, if he is just a simple free agent with plans file later on...then he can be signed outright.Phinperor likes this. -

Plus Arizona still owns his rights, just like Detroit still owns Barry Sanders rights.

I'm sure they'll be working out quite a few QB's.

If J. Russell becomes our QB I think my 35+ years as a Phin's fan will come to an end. Either keep Thigpen in there, draft a decent QB next year, etc., but we don't need a 290 pound piece of $%#@ as QB.

The one thing Russell proved in Oakland was that he is not an NFL QB. Signing him would serve no purpose what so ever. Perhaps the Dolphins could contact Kurt Warner and see if he is interested in playing out the season. He is no longer on DWTS and I assume he is looking for something to do. You never know. Maybe Warner is tired of being retired and would like another opportunity to lead a team to the playoffs. At least it would be worth the phone call from the Dolphins to find out.
