lol his arm looked fine in the jets game with passes to ginn and fasano....i love how his arm always turns into a "negative" regardless of his ridiculous numbers through this 17 game season

 

We are in a tough spot in this game. On one hand you want to pressure Flacco (And we have not been getting pressure), but if you sell out the pressure Flacco, the Raven will run all over us.

Its a tough matchup

 

Both of those TD passes were much more of a touch throw, than a full on rocket. Even the bomb to Ginn was completed due to Ginn's great adjustment to the underthrown ball.

Having said that, the deep ball isn't and hasn't been our M.O. Ball control and time consuming drives have and will continue to suit us well. :hi5:

 

The interesting thing about the AFC to me is that you can make a case for just about everyone being the hottest team.

The Titans ruled the AFC all year long, the Colts have been on a tear the last 10 weeks, The Ravens have looked great recently, the Dolphins have won nine of 10, and the Chargers have won four in a row to propel themselves into the playoffs.

Only the Steelers seem to be missing any type of momentum and they can get that if and when Big Ben comes back.

 

It should be a dog-fight... We GOTTA get some offense going this game though. IF we make it past Baltimore though, watch out!

Not the TD pass, the one in the middle of the field later in the game where he split two defenders. That one was underthrown and Ginn did a great job of stopping and coming back to the ball.

I think the Colts are going to advance far into the post-season, they have been on a huge winnning streak, and Manning has been on fire as of late.

 

If Pennington would have throw that ball out in front of Ginn it would've been picked, the Jets had two DB's on Ginn in front of him, that was a great pass by Pennington.

 

I do think that the "short throw to Ginn" was a designed short throw and Ginn route change. Don't remember where I read it but it seemed that both players "knew" the "short" throw would be thrown due to the back/hips of the defenders. They might have been talking about another one but I thought it was the one being discussed in this tread.

 

Pennington didn't throw it short by design. Credit Ginn on a nice adjustment and catch. The Jet defenders relly did overplay that route. They, more than anyone, should know that the long ball is not Chad's strongsuit and should have played it accordingly.

Besides, what a horrible double team. One should have been short while the other long to defend it properly. Lucky for us, they didn't.

And this doesn't mean that I dislike Pennington. I like him a lot. He is a huge reason why we are where we are. I am just being honest. The deep ball is not his, or our forte. The short to intermediate passing game combined with a good running game and a decent to good defense is what we do, and do well.

 

Ginn had them beat. He slowed down when he saw the ball was not going to make it. They were not in front of him

 

Kordell Stewart and Jamal Anderson both picked Miami to win Sunday. They like the wildcat and the way we played against the Jets in a playoff type situation.

 

Pennington showed enough arm against the Jets to do what he needed to do, mainly let the Ravens know that the 30-50yd passing area is not closed for business when he drops back to pass.

If the Ravens crowd the line, Pennington can throw the ball deep enough.

And we are playing in Miami, with continued luck, there won't be 20 mph winds either.

Steelers OL will be exposed again and all the hits to Big Ben is getting to him. Their Defense will be tough but Peezy will want his revenge and ends up getting it.

If you watch the replay as he throws Ginn is 5 yards ahead of both defenders. It only looks like they were close because he had to slow down. To be fair not very many QB's can throw it as deep as Ginn was anyway, but if he does lead him it's an easy TD.

 

watching him play all year, i'm starting to come to the conclusion that "ol' noodle arm" was unfairly labeled. regardless of the talent or lack there of on a team, it is still a TEAM and it needs every unit to function accurately in order for a team to be successful. when one unit lacks, others need to pick up the slack. we have done that over and over this year, and penny has made a habit of taking his QB rating over the 100 mark several times. people can say what they want about our team. they can underestimate us all they want, but the true fans will remain. and i think WE, the fans, are able to break down our talents and strengths much better than some of the so-called analysts.

we will never just get respect. we have to TAKE it. and if that means leaving every single one of these neigh-sayers with their jaws on the floor, then I think this new team of ours can do it. things can only get better from here. we've watched a team go from a high school version of a football team to a super bowl contender in one year. it's not all because of management. the players play a part in that too, and if we have to keep on winning year after year, at this point, I feel like it can be done.
