Hopefully the team's Defense will get their legs back, as they get their conditioning back little by little, but looking at these numbers can leave a question/questions on fan's minds...
If the team is lacking conditioning, these stats can be deceiving, or they can be an indicator of where we are actually are...
Since 2009, we competed against NE and Houston a combined total of 7 times. Teams with talented/explosive Offenses including their QB's, but we all have known that...
We will look at the numbers produced by those encounters from 2009-2010, and will gage them against 2011's...
On Defense, the team combined and allowed a 68% completion, 9.7 YPA, 8 TDs, 4 INTs, and a 106 QBR...
On Offense (with Henne), the team combined for 60%, 6.4 YPA, 5 TDs, 6 INTs, and a 75 QBR...
In 2011 (just two games), the Defense allowed 69% completion, 9.7 YPA, 6 TDs, 1 INT and a 120 QBR...while...
The Offense combined for 53% completion, 7.4 YPA, 3 TDs, 2 INTs and a 79 QBR...
Offensively, their is improvement, TD-INT ratio, as well as YPA, even though we have been slightly worst in competion %... but the season is young...
Defensively, as you can see, we are still struggling, after 3 years, and hopefully if this is just a conditioning issue, things will show a turn around as the season unfold...
I know the majority of the games are against NE, but ther is an indication as to how we stand against them, how much more we have to improve to compete on their level...
As you can tell, I am a tank 1/2 full kind of guy...

Was just thinking that the D started out good last yr in terms of turnovers, but then fell off vs the Jets and Patriots.
The Offense started off poorly then improved, then fell off, the Defense continued to improve as the season rolled along.
D went from allowing 20 pts in the first two games to then allowing 72 points in the next two games.Disnardo likes this. -
The defense hasn't been suffering for three yrs. It's been suffering for two gms

I beg to differ, stats don't lie...
They have been average at best, against the Pass for the last 2 years...
They have been killed by Brady and company since 2004, but I was just discussing the stats since Henne took over in 2009...
I could be more specific Adam, but I am sure you get the point, if not, please look at the passing stats and TDs allowed by air since 2009...
Our passing D has not improved in over 2 seasons seems like...MonstBlitz likes this. -

The conditioning issue is concerning because the other teams were not affected as much as the Dolphins. The other teams had short training camps and preseasons as well but appeared to fair better in the south Florida heat and humidity than the home team did. Is that an indication that the practice bubble is a mistake or that the Dolphins conditioning is just not as good? Is there also an appearance that the Dolphins just don't seem to be well prepared for the games?
Its also concerning to me that it took training camp, four preseason games and two regular season games for them to realize that RB is not a between the tackles running back. You would think they would have had some indication of that with his play in NO. Did they actually feel that RB was a starting running back who could get the majority of the carries both inside and outside the tackles? -
I believe we were out a few starters on O and D in the later part of the year... -
So NE had more practice, game time practice which helps conditioning... -
Will be interesting to see who gets run time, Will Allen and Nate Jones or NC and Jimmy Wilson v the Browns.
I still like Nolan Carroll, think he can play Cb in the NFL, with CC back at FS will be interesting to see if he plays better overall vs the Browns.Disnardo likes this. -
ITS NOTHING BUT EXCUSES DO PEOPLE CAN PUMP UP THE FRONT OFFICE . THE WIN -LOSS RECORD IS THE DECIDING FACTOR FOR ME AND SO FAR THE BILLS AND JETS HAVE MADE GOOD PROGRESS WHILE MIAMI IS STILL FLOATING IF NOT SINKING AND ITS NOT A OPINION ITS WHAT IT IS AND THAT IS WE HAVENT IMPROVED ENOUGH WILE OUR RIVIALS HAVE. they all have 2-0 reccords while we are 0-2

We lost to the Pats and Texans
Do you believe the Bills would have opened the season 2-0 against the Pats and Texans?
Do you believe we'd have opened 0-2 against the Chiefs and Raiders?Disnardo likes this. -
Did we all knew that Houston and NE's Offense scored at least 27 points in 19 total games last season (2010)???
NE scored at least 27 in 12 games last Season while their Defense allowed at least 27 points only 5 times last year... These odds would lead you to win games in the double digits... and NE did that...
Now the kicker that most people realize is that Houston was a 6-10 team last year, and do not see the overall picture... Well I just looked at the picture and here is what developed...
Houston's Offense scored at least 27 points in 7 games last year. They scored at least 24, 9 times... Now, do to their bad D, that allowed 27 points in 11 games, they could not win more than 6 games...
What I am geting at, if some have not caught up yet, is that if this Houston D holds teams to less than 24 points per game, they will be very hard to stop, and they don't have their running game going yet... and in the end, this is a team that can put points on the board quickly, even if they are not the Colts nor the Patriots...
In this last game, Defensively we did a good job against them, and only 4 teams held them to less than 23 points last year...
Now if we can get the conditioning straighten out as the weeks go by, it will be an interesting Season, and not the one that will include an end to our front Office...
