Even in the preseason, you can’t overlook the significance of Chad Henne putting together two quality starts in a row. It says plenty.
Consistency is essential for Henne and, by and large, it hasn’t been one of his strengths over the past few seasons.
But with an excellent performance Saturday night at Tampa combined with a quality start the week before against Carolina, Henne is on the kind of roll the Dolphins are looking for heading into the regular season.
All of this serves as additional evidence that Henne could very well be a vastly improved player with a new offensive coordinator, a new aggressive style and a look about him that screams confidence.
Granted, it is early. This player will be judged on his regular season, not the preseason. But at a time when we look for positive signs, the fact that Henne played so well against the Bucs after playing so well against the Panthers has to be considered encouraging news.
His accuracy was excellent. His passes were crisp. He found his outlet man in the face of a blitz. And in one of the most impressive throws of his career – regular season, preseason, anytime – Henne caught Brandon Marshall in full stride on a 60-yard beauty of a touchdown pass.
This was the Chad Henne, now two weeks in a row, that the Dolphins desperately need this season.
• Mike Pouncey continues to impress just about everyone. This is an unusual player for someone this young. Just like his brother.

Henne's performance at Tampa was a bit overshadowed by the horrible performance by the offensive line.

While Cohen's articles usually give me this feeling that the subject's grandmother wrote the story...I think this was a very good read, and I agreed on most points.
I'm glad that Sparano believes this team "attacks fear." I haven't noticed this in the past couple years, and they'll sure need this quality opening up the season with such a major game.
I hope Charles Clay has as much of a role as Cohen seems to believe.
I do not know if I view Colombo as a "closer."
I've heard lots of negativity on message boards regarding Pouncey, but all the articles seem to point to the coaching staff being extremely pleased. I am reminded of the story of Ireland, IIRC, saying something about having a new version of Dwight Stephenson when he watched Pouncey blocking a guy 20 yards down the field (or something to that effect) - don't remember where I read this though.TiP54 likes this. -
I like this:
"When I asked Sparano why this year’s team could be different than the back-to-back 7-9 teams, he mentioned that this team has more “closers” than his previous teams... he singled out Reggie Bush, Kevin Burnett, Jason Taylor and Marc Colombo as examples. Win those close games and that’s how 7-9 becomes 11-5."
The reality is that there really isn't a big difference between 8-8 and 11-5. Often times, one or two key additions can make the difference. This is a young team that is maturing at the right time, and we added two great players in Reggie Bush and Kevin Burnett. I'm still pretty worried about the OL, but... that's pretty much the only thing that has me concerned right now.

He meant he's the guy that at the end of a heated division game will get beat landing Henne on his ***.

You know we never really looked it but last year's line including Carey's supposedly good performance at RT may have been a factor of a lot of help from guys like Fasano and Polite. I don't think this year's line is necessarily worse than that one by much.

I am a Henne supporter (God knows why) but for me to say he is clearly improving he has to at least see hartline open in the corner of the endzone on the play right before their first FG. he also has to realize that a sack there does not hurt anything.
