I sort of expected it to be all doom and gloom here, but surely some of you saw a defense playing lights out against one of the best QB's/offenses in the league. Did our corners give up some plays? Sure, but they gave up less than any other team has this season. Did Tannehill make some bad throws? Yup, but he also rebounded nicely and we got our offense going. Did our front seven shut down the LOS and have Rodgers doing his best Superman impression? Definitely. Pick any other QB in the league, plug them in Green Bay's offense and we deliver a shut out...maybe 7 points max. If anything, the coaching staff lost this game for us today in the final minutes (like on a run up the middle from the 1 yard line....or calling the exact same play on 3rd and 9), but the TEAM tried their best to steal a win against a great club. How many balls were batted down? I don't know, but it was easily in double digits.
So I can understand people being pissed at Philbin, but our team stood toe to toe with one of the best in the business and almost came out ahead. And yes, I know that a loss is a loss. But if we can play like that every week, there will be more W's than L's over the next 11 games. It was a good team game.

Can't play the way the offense did in th first half, and say they played a heck of a game. They played decent overall, IMO.

Defense played very good, Coyle is a moron. Offense had a nice half time adjustment, first half was terrible 99% to blame on Tannehill.

The effort and heart of the team were great. The coaching sucked
-
There were some positives today but I'm not a believer in a moral victories. A loss is a loss and unacceptable when you do it as much as we do.
The positives:
Our team showed a lot of heart today
Our defense kept us in this game
Our OL is light years better than I could have imagined
Landry is going to be very good
Vernon and Wake are absolute beasts
Jenkins continues to impress me
The bad:
Joe Philbin
Ryan Tannehill's turnovers and inconsistent play
Phillip Wheeler
Cortland Finnegan
Brent Grimes meteoric drop in play from last year
Where are the 2 corners we drafted last year? -
-
Yeah the players played great but the coaching cost us the game. Its truly sad. Philbin shouldn't be our HC anymore.
-
All I'm saying is that if you're expecting a pick-6 instead of a simple tackle in bounds, you might need to lower some expectations. I'm not sure a QB not named Favre makes the throw if he sees a white blur moving toward his only read on the play. -
I personally thought about the fake spike as soon as he signaled it though, as I imagine a lot of the older Fin fans from the Marino days did. So if one of our old butts were in the game, we would have been thinking pick-6 all the way. :lol:DPlus47 likes this. -

Good strategy by Green Bay and Rodgers: Locate Jimmy Wilson, throw the ball at whoever he is covering.

the fake spike is a great example. I bet philbin has never mentioned the words fake spike in his 3 years here.

Well they were awful (on offense) in the first half. Great 2nd half yes. But terrible coaching all game from the non-FG, the last drive where they couldn't decide if they wanted to be ballsy or play it safe, the badly wasted timeouts and the man-to-man coverage at the goal line against the best passing offense in the game.
They did well against a good team but who cares, they lost. And there was a fake spike on the game winning drive to add insult to injury. I'm just sick of seeing good games that they lose closely to playoff teams. It was fine in 2005/2008/2009 when I didn't expect much and figured they could build on close losses. But they can't build on it. We've been waiting and waiting and waiting... I'd like them to be a playoff team, not just lose close games to them every year and finish mediocre. -
Not happy, but proud of them for looking decent and making it a game in the second half. Phins Up everybody.
-
I won't go so far as to say heck of a game as a team, but it was a good effort by a lot of guys. Really bummed about the loss.

Team held their own and philbin gave put Ty hem in a position to lose. Same story every week.
Fire him. Promote lazor on a tr ouu as l basis. Start open interviews. Beatle f philbin is here next year I am taking the year off as a fan. -
Did Grimes wear cleats today? Dude looked like he was running on ice.....sad day for him.
-
More of the same. Lazor came out throwing and stalled. We fell behind. In the second half he ran balanced offense, we climbed back in. End on the final drive he goes for a pass when he should run the clock down. We lose. This was another Lazor special where the offense tried to make RT into a Dan Marino and failed, ended up unbalanced, 32 passes, 23 runs, 2 ints, and a loss.
Dude is an idiot. This is the 3rd loss in 5 games on same basis. He needs to be fired. We keep losing games because of Bill Lazor and no other reason. -

Why do we suck so much in the first half?
-
I caught very little of the game but it appeared it was a game of halves. The O was horrible in the first and superb in the second and the D was great in the first and not so much in the second, correct? This happened in the first game of the season. It feels that they are close at times. Say what you will about Tannehill and Philbin, they were in position to win this game. Take away a INT or a bad TO and they win. With that said, they have to win the next two games or 3 out of the next 4.
