Madden 2011 - Ultra Trendy Edition
All jokes aside, I dig Macs and what they do. It's the elitist Mac users that I can't stand. The whole I'm cool because I over payed for my Mac attitude annoys me to no end.baboo72, Frumundah Finnatic, Firesole and 7 others like this. -
outside of their sports games, EA has been doing some really great stuff lately. They made Dead Space, Mirrors Edge, published Left 4 Dead, and their publishing Mass Effect 2 as well. Everyone knows them for Madden but they've really become a respectable company IMO.
Now Activision, they're the evil ones.
Im not sure how i feel about Apple buying EA tho. I just fear what the implications could become. -
So what would this mean? Is Apple trying once again to get a gaming console in the future with maybe EA as an exclusive brand? - or - If Apple buys EA how nice would they play with the Xbox version of that game since its Microsoft?
Hum....interesting questions to me at least. Also Mor I agree 100% with your Mac attitude. -
And as far as Apple buying EA. That's like cleaning up pig poop with a rag soaked in hippo diarrhea. -
-
This just in. EA sports is now iEA Sports. Madden is iMadden '10. Etc.
-
............ There's a joke in there...... somewhere......
Oh wait, I can find it with iPhone
*activates Joke App*
What are they going to do? Have their own personal team in Madden whose stadium is shaped by the touchwheel? And their helmets have MP3 capabilities? -
Not all Mac's are overpaid. If you know where and how to look, you can get great deals. Do you guys hate PC elitists who have premium ($2.5k - 5k) brands when they flaunt their laptops as you do Mac people?
Apple did one helluva job at marketing to get "Mac's are cool" label on their products.
Did you wish you had one? Resistance is futile.
oh noes, some company is rumored to buy EA and ruin my precious Madden series. /wrist

Inner Valve Fanboy Inside Me : "The next person who says EA Published/Gets Credit for anything to do with Left4Dead get's punchisized in the face...for free"
EA handled retail distribution rights for Valve, that's it. The game was developed & published by Valve Corp. :tongue2: -

FPS games designed for consoles have to be tweaked so that accuracy is handled differently with less precision. - Control Sticks can never compete with a Mouse.
MMORPG's are pretty strange without being able to map your own keys & use the keyboard to type. They also have to use half-******ed UI's for these kind of games on consoles.
RTS on consoles are just simply pathetic. Partially due to limitations similar to the MMORPGs, and also due to the useless interfaces that accompany the console games. Similar to FPS', a mouse & keyboard vs the controller is night/day.
Face it, consoles are just to feed the masses, that's it.
All that said, every one of those genre's are represented by some of the biggest titles out there on consoles. So they are trying. I just can't see how quality games like Company of Heroes, Total War, Starcraft, WoW can ever be made to really compare with the PC. I've played alot of the multiplatform titles on both the 360 & the PC, and Fallout 3, Mass Effect, Gears of War - All of them trump their console counterparts.
Don't even get me started on games like Civilization for the 360...It's like the mentally unstable family member. You still love him and all, because it's blood....but every time you look at him you can't help but constantly think about how ****ed up he is.

Wake me up when I actually care about playing those types of games. I have played my games on a console since the Atari and I just think a console feels like a better platform for games.
The way I see it:
-people make games for consoles
-people have to build pc's to run games
I like my computer and all but nothing beats playing games in the living room on a 52'' screen. -
-
People don't have to build their own PC's. When you do, its just cheaper.
The fact that you bring your TV into this just makes me want to /facepalm.
First of all, there are MUCH better resolutions on PC monitors. It's not even close. Secondly, anyone who is as tech savy as a chipmunk can hook their PC up to their big screen if they really wanted to. GASP! They make controllers for the PC as well, you can even use a X360 controller.
Reality : Consoles are merely dumb, limited PC's that cause game franchises to stagnate(in some cases regress) more than grow. -
And one of the most popular sports games isn't available on PC (madden) and neither is one of the best sports games (the show).
And while LAN parties are a lot of fun, having 4 friends over on the same screen with little hassle (and overall less cost) can be just as much fun.
I agree though with the TV comment, my Sammy has VGA and DVI capabilities.
PS: My PC's soundcard (my PC cost around $500, that includes monitor though) is nowhere near as capable as my PS3. I would bet my PS3's video capabilities is at least on par, if not better than that of my PC. My PC as is doesn't have HDMI either, nor can my pc run blu-rays. :wink2: -
I was referring to building computers for games as a general term. I didn't mean the user building it exactly. It could be the manufacturer building it. The point was that you don't need a $1000 computer to do day to day tasks. You buy or build a supped up pc to play the lastest and greatest games.
I just wanna know what makes consoles dumb and pc's so smart?
That in itself is a shot at the console gamer and not the equipment. -
PS: Do yourself a favor and get an X-Fi. They're pretty cheap these days... -
Resistance is futile. :tongue2: -
And Madden was still the most popular sports game even when they didn't have exclusivity (not saying it was necessarily deserved).
And I am sick of people bashing Madden for being exclusive, when the NFL is the one to blame. 2k would have taken the exclusive as well, just EA made the better offer. No offer would have been made though if the NFL didn't want one exclusive title though. -
I blame both really but that's beside the point. 2k, IMO, made them get off their rears because the trend 2004 was setting was on the way down. You gotta admit, 2006, the first year with no competition, was a big downer. Public criticism was then the only force compelling Madden's staff to improve. Not to mention Madden's perplexing tendency to remove or dumb down good features for no apparent reason... -
I don't do graphics.
Music I tend to run through my ps3 or 360 (from my pc) into my surround sound system (in the living room).
So yea, my pc collects dust.
And complaining about the Madden game is fine and certainly justifiable, but I don't think hammering them for being an exclusive is exactly fair since had they not bit someone else would have. -
It's even amusing to me to look at My Xbox and compare it to consoles of previous generations. Essentially, as the consoles move forward they are slowly but surely stripping away some of the limitations/adding features that is making the machines closer to PCs. For example, multi-media has been a major focus of consoles recently, as well as Digital Downloads, and a focus on social activities outside of the games.
Just because a console is a "dumb version of a PC", isn't talking down on anyone who owns one. Im a console owner myself.
Other than the limitations they put on consoles, there's just no way I can foresee them getting around the fact that due to the Mouse & Keyboard, along with ever expanding software architecture & hardware advancements- Consoles will always be an inferior, but "easier to get into" gaming experience. -
Some people might also dislike the "complexities" involved with using a keyboard and mouse which could detract from the gaming experience.
I also don't agree with console gaming being easier to get into when I bet the more households have PCs than consoles. Add in all the freeware that is available for the PC, and PC games are definitely easier to get in to.
They both have their pros and cons, but inferiority (IMO) is just what someone chooses to make of it. Both can give high quality gaming experiences. -
While an argument can certainly be made that some people may "prefer" a controller to the M&K, that doesn't change the fact that they are still extremely hindered by it. This is one problem with having cross-platform online play. Halo players would get their asses handed to them if they were up against a PC gamer. It's not because of skill, but due to the M&K allowing for extremely faster reaction times, & that gaming PC's can have better resolution & viewing distance. Which makes a huge impact in many games.
The "inferiority" isn't about preference, its about hardware & software capabilities/limitations. -
A gaming experience is measured in more than hardware and software capabilities IMO. So yea, I do think it is a matter of preference. If it weren't the PS3 would be atop the console world.
