Pretty nice though knowing with have one of the premiere defensive players in the league..at a bargain price..
He could even become more dangerous with Dion on the other end..two football players at their core, who happen to be supreme athletes. -
Would like to see Vernon have a shot at that DE slot. -
Anyone else just imagining Wake and Dion both flying off the edges and smashing the qb so hard like a sandwich that he explodes into a pile of guts and shoulder pads?!

Def ends in today's game do not need to be carrying weight they don't need, it's becoming a quick twitch position. -

If you believe in Odrick as a great player then sorry about your luck.
His development is at it's ceiling. The guys has strong arms but no talent. -
I don't think Jared Odrick's PFF rating is really all that appropriate a reflection of his performance. The way PFF does grades for players mean Odrick's performance and/or production is rated vs. the average score of a 4-3 DE in 2008. A 4-3 DE is a very broad, not entirely technical definition that has Odrick graded against 250lb. edge rushers when he's playing the position more like a 3-4 DE. I understand why they would do that, but I think it gives the wrong perception of Odrick.
If you compare Odrick's "production"(sacks, hits, and hurries) and rush attempts to 3-4 DEs, he does not compare unfavorably. That doesn't include some of the other aspects of the grade, but that isn't nearly as easy to quantify.ToddPhin, Steve-Mo, Stringer Bell and 1 other person like this. -
I really think you should rethink your stance on this one.ToddPhin likes this. -
Odrick was a bad 1st round pick...period. Regardless of whether you consider him a "bust" or not, if Miami could re-do that draft, they wouldn't even consider using a 1st on him again, and neither would any other team. He'd probably go in the 4th lol.
Then again, at pick 28 it's not like we passed on some stud...the next real good pick was Gronkowski 14 picks later. 09 was one of several losing seasons this team suffered, the bright side being we got to pick in the top half of the 1st round. Moral of the story? Don't trade down from 12 all the way to 28 just to pick up a 2nd, you take yourself out of the running for several excellent prospects. In this case, quantity over quality hurt us. -

I want to see him succeed, last yr he should have kicked some butt and just was not there most games, could be scheme, he was tasked at staying at home, but in whatever pass rush attempts he did have he did do much with them.
He talking about losing weight this offseason, tbh when I hear a player say that at this point in their career I don't think it will help his game very much.
He should be ascending at this point, he's not a poor player, he's just not likely to do much more then he has shown us already. -
Traded back and added Odrick and Misi, who are more bit players that you don't have to trade away from talent to find. Moving him to DT may help, but at this point consider he had Nolan as his DC and he could not get more out of him, w/Kacy Rodgers as his DL coach considered one of the best in the NFL.
Coyle was a newb DC and still Odie did about what Odie usually does, so what 2 DefCord's have been here and he is producing the same as usual and moving him to DT has been talked about since he got here and it rarely happens
That is a bit of a message about what the Staff thinks of his game Deej.
And I bought an autographed jersey of his when he was drafted so I liked him coming out..he's just not developed into what I'd hoped he would develop into. -
One thing about Odrick that nobody is mentioning is that he missed his whole rookie season with the broken leg. So he is really coming into his third year. I would give him this year before writing him off as having reached his peak. It's not uncommon for players to "get it" during their third season.

As a 1st round pick and potential he is a bust. We are seeing all we are going to see in his development.
Nothing special. -
2000 total snaps by now if not more?
