looks cool. Don't know how big of a fan I am on how you pick your receivers you're going to throw to, that might be a bit challenging if you need to get from the receiver on the right side of the field, all the way over to the left if you're in a hurry because of a blitz. Be interesting to see how quick the progression is from one WR to the next.
All in all, looks cool. I like the idea of the running controls. Customization is always cool, but for me its going to be hard to part with the NFL team logos and stuff. The graphics though, dont look all that well. The stadiums look nice, but the players uniforms look a little rough. However, I guess its hard to judge from short little youtube clips.
I'll pick this up and give it a try probably. Hopefully somewhere around here has it for rent though. When does this come out again?? -

So people willplay with NFL team logos etc, but build them themselves.
Not Backbreaker's leagl fault.BuckeyeKing and Tone_E like this. -
Actually, doesn;t look amazingly better than madden to me. Just different.

Backbreaker looks unique. I agree that the player graphics are nothing to admire, but that will all be forgotten once you see the crazy animations from impacts. That is the thing I noticed about this game though. The running and turning looks very stiff, but one contact is made, it looks amazingly fluid. -

You get stuff like this happening FF to 3:06

This is just to show what fixed animations is all about if that was in BB the defender would have tackled the RB.
If EA actually did this their game would be great IMO. BB wont be perfect but their in the right direction.Vengeful Odin and Bpk like this. -

I think the sad but true part is this...
Without an NFL or NCAA license, Backbreaker will sell about as much as All Pro Football did. Which means this game (been in development for 5 years I think) will take a huge loss and the Publisher will scrap any and all thoughts at a sequel or going further. It doesn't matter if it beats the snot out of Madden (that can't be hard to do).Bpk likes this. -

Aw common. Games get scrapped all the time mid development because publishers would rather cut their losses than spend all that cash on another failed game.
-
Depends on how well it plays. If it plays well and player content contains NFL logo's and teams it should sell well.

As of March they have made a decent amount of money on tackle alley. At least 1.5 million downloaded it. No word on how many they actually made money on.
It is a game that might work on the IPAD.Mainge likes this. -

Im buying just in the hopes that enough people will want something different than Madden.....
I dont know...while I love playing as the Phins....
I think it would be really cool to name a team the Vermont Ice Storm build a stadium for Burlington VT...and play in a league with the rest of you guys with home made franchises....
Hell...how many companies just freaked at trying to compete with Madden and EA and never got out of development....theyve earned a shot at my 50 bucks....for the first season. -

Anyone have downloaded the demo? this game is amazing.

Yeah, I've got the demo on 360 (PS3 version not out yet). A lot of good, some negative, but a very "different animal" when it comes to football games.
Some of the good includes the graphics. The very best is the way Euphoria makes the tackles and interactions between players as realistic as you've ever, EVER seen in a videogame. I really want the full game so I can start creating logos, both NFL and UFL and anything else I dream up. Tackle alley is mindless fun, the demo is worth downloading just for that alone.
The bad? Well, using mostly just the sticks is going to take a lot of practice for me. The camera angle is much closer than what you've seen before. Defense is interesting as you play with the camera to your back, facing the offense. Often the actual play is away from the player (I go with a LB) you are controlling. In a way, that's okay, as I'm so focused on defending my zone or following my man coverage assignment. The downside is the replay system does a poor job of showing you the full play and what happened.
Pretty happy with the kicking game and returning kicks/punts too. Backbreaker looks like a good "first effort" from a small developer. They've already announced a BB2, which is good as I'm sure there will be a list of things we'd like to see added to the game.
Keep this one thing in mind though; BB already has the fundamentals of football (blocking/tackling) down very well, they just need to add/improve on some of the "extras" to have a very good football game. Oh, and this is just a demo, so we'll see how the full game reviews.Tone_E, Phins28, Dol-Fan Dupree and 1 other person like this. -

After spending more time with the demo, I'd say I'm still struggling with being able to cycle through recievers with the R stick. I guess there is the option to go with "standard" button controls, but I like using the sticks for the rest of the game.
The more I play defense from this new angle, the more I like it. It felt great to be the LB covering the TE, but reading run at the snap and meeting the HB in the lane for a 2 yd gain. Or blitzing from the outside and getting a sack on the QB, then later pressuring him into a bad throw that got picked.SICK likes this.
