Gotta think we'll be favored in all our first six games, right? Look at the crappy QBs we're gonna face!
1. @Redskins (Bobby Three Sticks)
2. JAGUARS (Blake Bortles)
3. BILLS (Matt Cassel)
4. JETS (Geno Smith)
5. @Titans (Marcus Mariotta)
6. TEXANS (Ryan Mallet or Brian Hoyer)
Yes, divisional games are always tough, and yes, we've never beaten the Texans (we're due!), but I gotta admit, I'll be a little disappointed if we don't open 6-0.

If we are going to be Super Bowl contenders we absolutely need to start off 6-0 or 5-1, maybe get away with 4-2. If we resort to the Dolphins of old and head into the most difficult part of the schedule 3-3, we are doomed for a 7-9 or 6-10 season.
And I happen to love this schedule because if they do say go 5-1, it could give them the confidence to beat the tough teams like the Pats and the Cowboys.dolfan7171 likes this. -

Even if you are a 75% favorite to win each of those games, theres a <20% chance you win all 6. 6 wins would be ideal, but I think 4 or 5 wins would be great.

Some cards seem to be falling our way for a great out-the-gate record...6-0 should certainly be possible.
The Jets lost perhaps their best D-lineman, and another of their top 3 D-linemen is injured.
Arian Foster just pulled a groin...he won't be good to go for a LONG time from what they're saying.
The Titans shouldn't be any problem at all...nor should the Jests w/o Rexy...nor should the Foreskins...
Jags played us very tough last year and without the Defense (and Bortles) coming through BIG, we lose that game...it'll be tough. I still can't believe Colledge tried to play with a massive migraine...fkng moron.
The Texans I believe will finally fall to the Dolphins...they have too many question areas and we have some solid stuff to throw at 'em...besides JJ (who KILLED Tannehill last they played), I'm not worried about that team.
That leaves the ONE team I feel has a decent shot to take us, AT Miami (since their HC has done it the past 3 years)...the Jills. You can almost guarantee there will be a fake punt that'll work against us, or any variety of BS trick plays, and on top of that, they are LOADED in talent, on both sides...and they have the wildcard (Sexy Rexy).
4-2 would disappoint me, 5-1 wouldn't bother me, 6-0 would tell me we're playoff bound...particularly because I see 4 no-way-to-lose games in the last 10, minimum.dolfan7171 likes this. -
I think that if we're going to make the playoffs, 4-2 is a bare minimum, with 5-1 more likely necessary, and certainly doable. Start 5-1, and then 5-5 the rest of the way.

No game is a given.
I don't put too much thought into predictions anyway ;especially with my Dolphins.Bumrush likes this. -

If we start 6-0 a cat won't be able to scratch it. But I don't think we will.

I do agree that chances are Miami won't. It isn't easy to start 6-0. Heck winning six games in a row in the NFL is difficult. -
-
I would be content with 4 wins
I would be very satisfied with 5 wins
I would have a 24/7 hard on with six wins....but besides spoiled Patriot fans who wouldn't?
But I do think we need to push for 5 wins, we want a little comfort room than 4-2 going into that rough part of the skid. One loss and all of a sudden we're 4-3 and we have seen what has happened everytime the Dolphins hit that split in the road, where one way takes you to being great and the other medocrity. Seems like we always take the latter way. We need to keep seperation from that and keep that winning confidence high.Fin-Omenal, Aqua4Ever04, dolfan7171 and 1 other person like this. -

The Bills are the only possible loss imo but it's a home game so I believe 6-0 is very possible

I still say that if we begin the season with a record of 10-0, then we have a good shot at making the playoffs.

Weeks 1 and 2 should be wins for Miami.
Week 3 against Buffalo will be hard.
Week 4 in London we should win not only on talent but also on preparation. We've made the trip (successfully) while the Jets and their rookie HC don't have that experience to build from.
Week 5 should be a win against the Titans
Week 6 should be a win against a questionable offense/QB that just lost their best offensive player (Arian Foster - groin injury may require surgery)
I could easily imagine a good team starting strong against a schedule as favorable as that!
It's the follow-up stretch that's difficult:
@ NE
@ BUF
@ PHI
Dallas

Let's not forget folks, we've never beaten the Texans and they also have a very good defense. I'd put my money more on something closer to 4-2, with a loss to possibly the Bills and Texans. All of you that are saying we need wins in the beginning are correct. Our latter half of the schedule is brutal.
-
I think it's certainly possible we start the season at least 5-1. I haven't looked this up, but I'm quite certain that we haven't lost many games that we were favored in recent years. Say what you want about Philbin, but we usually beat the teams we should beat, and those first few teams are just that (aside from the division games which are a crapshoot).

Easy schedules are double edged swords. Players get complacent, opposing players get more amped. It's part of why Philbin's teams have the same record vs the Bills as they do vs the Patriots.

We don't need 2013 all over again....3-0, hyped up, hopes high....finish 8-8....You can start 6-0 and still finish 6-10.
Just focus on the each game, each week as it's own little SB "must win" and maybe...just maaaybe we can claim a playoff spot.dolfan7171 likes this. -

I am much more concerned with winning the last two games than the first four this year.
Don't be thinking the first six are gimmes. The Jags are a whole new team. A trip to London and a Texans team that so far owns us..
4-2 in the AFC east is more important than 4-2 thru the first six I think, but both would be sweet. Especially if we can slap the Texassins around a bit.dolfan7171 likes this. -

Edit: Gah...it's just a hammy...he made it sound like a long term thing (he's a Jests fan). -
I think we have a good enough team to start out 6-0 and that we should most likely be favored in those games. The Bills and Texans games scare me the most b/c they could have scary good DLs and we have OL questions. Also the Texans, despite hurting, always seem to have our number. The Jets DL took a step back with the loss of Richardson, but as always, division games tend to be tight affairs.

That said the team itself got that 3-0 start into their heads and I think it contributed to their choking later on. The pro shop had 3-0 commerative plaques on sale for god's sake. The hype was real and it got to the players.Piston Honda likes this. -
Bills and Jets are always toss ups - division games. We have YET to beat the Texas, so why in the world would you pencil them in as a W when we've found every way in the world to lose those games.
Don't get me wrong, I am more optimistic than I have been in years, but some of you guys need to take off your aqua colored glasses.
