Hopefully the wont require the tedious process of finger printing and CIA background check to return a game for $5 credit like Gamestop.

 

And then they'll get sued by some very angry people when half their used merchandise is stolen and all they have on file is that it was traded in by "John Smith"

It takes a lot of red tape to run a pawn shop. I have a feeling these other companies will eventually come to the conclusion that dealing with stolen **** and giving out cash for games so people can use it for shady means isn't really worth the effort.

Also: Developers = ****ed again

 

How does this hurt developers?

More competition = good news for the consumer IMO.

Amazon already put Game Stop (P.O.S.) to shame.

Not only do they give you more value for your games, but you get a gift card to shop anything on Amazon.

 

cause developers dont get any money from used sales. The reason used games are so lucrative is because it's all profit. Best buy will buy the used games from the consumer, and a low price point im sure, then sell it for twice as much as they gave, earning them lots of money in the process.

Meanwhile the developers who worked ont he game get NOTHING.

 

**** gamestop and their trade ins...trade in a game for like 20 bucks and then they resell it for like 35....oh well

 

You could always sell on ebay or craigslist if you don't like their trade-in values.

 

I dont see the problem though, its that way in all industries. Used stuff gets sold all the time and the original maker doesnt make anything off of it. Its not like this is some new invention designed to screw developers.

 

im only saying this objectively. Im a gamestop employee. Im a cog in the system thats doing the screwing here. But while used sales are always prevalent in other industries, other industries don't normally have retail stores selling used merchandise. At least not international chains like Gamestop. And now with Amazon, Best Buy and Walmart all trying to get in on the action as well, i seriously think we might get to a point where developers all go the Steam route.

but it's not all bad. Gamestop does help developers out a little. Like right now you can trade in 3 specific games and get fight night 4 for free. It's little crap like that that keeps the developers and gamestop playing nice together.
