NEW YORK - Is it real or just a legend? That's what many are asking after the corpse of a bizarre-looking creature with a dinosaur beak washed up on a Long Island shore this week.
A tipster told Gawker.com that there is "a government animal testing facility very close by" where the creature washed ashore, but government biologists contacted by Hamptons-based Web site Plum said after looking at the pictures that "no such creature exists," according to Gawker.

It's pixelated even on the news web site...
I'm thinking it's bogus. -

Looks like a wet cougar!

Thats what I thought as well. -
If this were real they would have taken more than one damn picture!! Crap, If I cam across that thing I would stuff it in my cooler, bring it home, and take all sorts of pictures and videos, start a blog, monetize the hell out of it, and bank.. and then sell the creature to some research facility..
This has to be bogus if these people took ONE picture than just let the thing wash back out to sea.. -

Its indeed a shell less turtle.
Crazy stuff. -

If this isn't a hoax, I have to throw my vote in as a Sea Turtle as well.
Explains the "beak" away easily.
Although explaining how the shell got off it without a great amount of scaring and tearing of flesh would be a mystery. These aren't hermit crabs that just shed their shells, they are attached and grow with them. When something gets them out of those shells it's to feast on them, not to prepare them for a photo op. -
Is there an echo?
-

Say it 3 times and "he" appears.
Do you actually WANT Calle Ocho to be a blood bath this year? :pity:Last edited: Aug 1, 2008 -

In theory that's a good answer but the odds of Sea Turtles reaching adulthood and that size is already very tough. The odds of one living that long with no shell as protection would be pretty much mission impossible.Click to expand...
