Check out Randy McMichael's typical antics; drops one in his chest, makes a circus catch.
Subscribe to this guy's YT channel. Lots of vintage Dolphins shtuff.

Honestly, this was probably the best Dolphins game in the regular season that I can remember. Fantastic game.

Great 4th quarter is more like it.

We have the arm talent for that. Hopefully the head talent catches up to it.
-
Was that the hard hitting game that felt like playoffs from the start, it was early in the season?
-
Sucks that over the years we've had great players and good playmakers, but haven't a complete team since the 70s/early 80s.

Jay Fiedler's game winning touchdown run in the first game after 9/11 is right at the top as well. It became the Sports Illustrated cover the following week.My cousin is a die hard Raiders fan so that added to it as well.
Ahh, the good ol' days.DPlus47 likes this. -
McMichael had a nice career but there was a time where I thought he was going to be a superstar. Same with Chris Chambers. I thought both of them were going to be great. They didn't end up great but both had very nice careers.

Look at those stands. My God. Not an empty seat.

I was there. It was pretty amazing how the stadium went instantly quiet. We've done very well against Denver in the regular season. Unfortunately I was also at the playoff game here when we got pounded.

That Denver game is just so emblematic of everything that (in my mind) used to happen so much back then during those Wannstedt days.
* The defense holds the Denver Broncos to only 12 points through three quarters of the game but then gives up 10 points in the final quarter which helps Denver get out to a 22-21 lead.
* The offensive line is getting their teeth kicked in on pass protection and Fiedler is having to use his pocket presence and improv ability on most snaps.
* Randy McMichael drops a ball that hits him in the chest and would have cost the Dolphins a timeout if he'd caught it, then makes a circus catch down the field on a ball that helps us ultimately win the game.
* Jay Fiedler is throwing horribly despite his pocket presence and overall good improvisation. He makes a decision throwing to McMichael that might have cost the Dolphins a timeout after only gaining like 5 yards. The next ball is woefully inaccurate. The one up the field to McMichael is so far behind him I'm not sure how McMichael caught it, and the final ball to Dedric Ward to set up the game winning field goal should have been intercepted by John Mobley.
* Olindo Mare missed a 48 yard field goal earlier in the game but nails the 53 yard game winner.NaboCane, maynard and Serpico Jones like this. -

Take that game as an example. The defense held Denver to just 12 points through 3 quarters, but our offense only scored 7 points through the same. We then scored a touchdown to go up 14-12 and then a defensive touchdown (Surtain) to go up 21-12. But the game was still in reach. It's a 9 point game with plenty of time to go in the 4th quarter.
So here's the bottom line there. The defense allowed 22 points...but they also spotted the offense 7 points. When the defense scored that defensive touchdown that should have put the game away with a multiple-touchdown lead. We should have been winning at that point 26-12 or something along those lines. Instead it's 21-12 and Denver are still in it.Dol-Fan Dupree likes this. -
If you watched the Dolphins during the Olivadotti years... you are probably still having nightmares each time the offense hands the ball over to the other team's offense. What a horror show a set of film clips [do we have anything called lolights?] from that defense would be!MAFishFan likes this. -
I am a big Hartline fan, but the fact that him and Marshall are the only receivers with back to back 1,000 yard seasons since then is pathetic.ckparrothead likes this. -
Safety position has been average here for a very long time..Atkins..Marion..wooden...couple of very good corners here and there, just never a complete dominant defense. -

I have a lot of respect for the fact that we couldn't find a QB during all that time. The really good ones were kind of scarce. It's not an easy position to find.
What I still can't understand AT ALL is how we come away all that time (going back to the Marino era) without having running backs that can gain 1000 yards in a season consistently...to where they had to give up two 1st round picks for Ricky Williams because the franchise was just so desperate. I mean, how the hell does that happen? Seems like the damn things grow on trees nowadays.
BenJarvus Green-Ellis ran for 1100 yards last year. BenF**kingJarvis Green-F**king-Ellis. And Zac Stacy ran for nearly 1000 yards this year.NaboCane likes this. -
I remember when KAJ was touted at being a 1,000 runningback when he had 3.3 yards per carry. -
I kinda miss those Wanny days, at least the team was fun to watch and played in some big games back then. Also miss the times when the Dolphins weren't run by a bunch of douchebags in the front office.

Mark Higgs. Sammie Smith. Bernie Parmalee. Bobby Humphries. Jon Avery. JJ Johnson. Karim Abul Jabar. As much as we catch crap for the post Marino QBs the Marino era RBs and Post Marino backs are just as sad.
