Not sure what to make of the Brady situation , either he believes he is so entitled that he can massage and manipulate rules as he pleases or he felt he could pressure the league .

Either way if he indeed destroyed his phone it is a glaring example of not cooperating and there is no way the suspension should be reduced , rather it should be increased . Positive to see , hear several owners are adamant on it not being bargained or pressured down or away . This will taint his legacy , as it should , as a person and honorabale competitor . Won't take away from his winning record and chmapionships but it will cast a pretty dark shadow on his character.

Should have owned up and took the blow and moved forward . Hope more comes out and he doesn't accept this and pushes hard and we find out more egregious actions and that he then is reprimaned accordingly . Four games for not cooperating is one thing but to destroy evidence and likely more ? He deserved at least half a year imo . ESPN was reporting yesterday that Brady was stipulating that the charges be about him not complying and that he was insisting that his name be removed from anything relating to "deflate gate". insisting? I don't think he has any grounds to stand on for that positioning. If I'm Goodell I tell him, as the CEO of the company he works for, that he's not to have anything to do with the NFL for those 4 games, things stand as they are and he is more than welcome to take this to court.

If there is such a thing as Karma, then Brady will take them to court and the suspension will get upheld hopefully in December/January. Then he'll get so mad, he'll retire.

Brady really blew this PR-wise, and for someone who has won 4 Super Bowls and is in the conversation for one of the greatest QB ever by many, this is going to hurt him a lot more than it had to.

Imagine if he came out from the beginning and said he's sorry for trying to gain a competitive advantage he thought was similar to what many others in the NFL are doing. But that he'll cooperate fully. Not only would the penalty likely have been much less, but fewer people would start to question his place in history (this story will likely only exacerbate that).

 

Brady may be a pompous *******, but there is no way he takes this to a federal court.. The phone records can be subpoenaed. And he will be exposed. This was a power play by an ego maniac that thought he was above discipline. It's the Patriot Way. It's the Bill Belichick way. If Brady appeals this, he better be ready to have his a$$ handed to him. **** the Patriots and **** Brady.

It will be VERY interesting to see how the Patriots handle training camp and preseason.

First... you have to get Garoppolo ready if you're Belichick, but if the assumption is Brady is going to be the starter in Dallas @ Week 5, then Brady will also need reps.

This also means Brady and Jimmy will likely not miss a single game in preseason, but who gets the first team reps and who gets the second, how long will first/second be on the field on the field.

This is a gigantic mess and I love it. lol With that said, if you're a betting man you bet on New England to win every game in preseason because Brady isn't resting.

 

If that was the case, then what was his endgame here? If this goes to the courts they will be forced to reveal all texts, if the texts reveal nothing incriminating why didn't he give up the relevant phone records? Sounds like a game of cat and mouse and Roger didn't call the bluff. Take it to the bank, Brady will say he is not going to court to protect the integrity of the game and to not be a distraction to the Patriots.

 

Phone companies don't keep text messages that long, last I checked. I have a link somewhere, and it may have changed, but a couple years ago they only kept the contents for a few days to a few weeks. Maybe iMessage chsnges that. But civil litigators have tried to subpoena them and they weren't retained

 

If Miami or Buffalo don't come out as division winners this season then wow, we really are pathetic. I just don't see how the Patriots win the division, there's no excuse for neither Buffalo of Miami.

The Patriots futures went blank after this news.. we'll see what they are when they reappear. They used to be at 10.5 wins. The Dolphins were at 9 wins, but -110 for both over and under (means likelihood of Dolphins winning more or less than 9 games was the same). Now it's -120 for Dolphins! That means you now have to bet $120 to win $100, so according to Vegas (or at least one online betting site), it is now more likely the Dolphins win 10 games than 8 games!

 

Here is my take:

I don't think he goes to court. This is where Kraft steps in and tells him "no it is over" and as his boss he can do that....Kraft took the penalty and he had more to lose.

If Brady did break the phone the day Wells interviewed him to cover up whatever he was trying to cover up, and by going to court they can uncover what he was trying to cover up, why would he go to court.

The NFL appeals arbitration is make believe they have no power to subpoena those records, Federal court is a whole other ball game, EVERY text will be revealed. I personally don't think it has anything to do about deflating the ball as to what he was trying to cover up. It has more to do on whatever else was on that phone....Kraft bashing? BB bashing? Wilfork bashing? Cheating on Giselle? it could be anything....Personal relationships transcend a make believe stats which are what sports stats are. They in the game of life are meaningless.....

Lol apparently the NFL has filed a lawsuit against Tom Brady in federal court to uphold the appeal, rather than to let Brady's lawyers do it. I wonder if they're trying to make it so he can't get a stay
