Brandon Marshall press conference at 3:30

I thought there wasn't gonna be a press conference...

thats fantastic news about him working out with the team!

Glad he's working out already. Hopefully he is welcomed, and is welcoming......

It's not a Dolphins conference, it's just Marshall, he set it up with the media.

Is this airing on TV or online? I live in NY so cant watch the local South Florida channels. Maybe espn will have it.

I want to see this live...hope someone is carrying it..maybe NFLN ?.

Its not the Dolphins...Its Marshall...Bill P knows about it though im sure and so does Ross. My guess is the pluses outweigh the minuses.

Well this is the most interest the Dolphins have generated nationally since Dan Marino.

We generated some with Ricky Williams signing and also the Wildcat/return to form, but there are lots of eyes on him.

I share this with you because it's strange. The Dolphins do not make players available for press conferences during the offseason. That is team policy. Bill Parcells believes you do not show favoritism to a new player. The attitude is he's just part of the group now.

That's the way it was when Karlos Dansby signed his mega-contract in March.

But it is obviously different with Marshall. The Dolphins are not having this press gathering but are aware of it and are not going to stop it. I'm told Marshall had plans to do interviews with national media, so the Dolphins suggested he also include the local folks.

It's interesting because Miami is clearly making an exception even though the policy is to make no exceptions for anyone. I'm wondering if that will send a message to a guy like Dansby or other players? I'm wondering why different rules for different players?

That's because this signing was IMO, pushed heavily by Ross.....the guy loves PR stuff and this signing is his best work yet. I'm sure he has no problem letting Marshall get all this exposure. He could care less if the Trifecta don't care about fan approval.....he does, he's trying to sell a product to them.

This presser is out of the FO's hands....... just like the choice of signing him.

But it's still a press conference for a player. They didn't allow Dansby to do anything like this.

I really hope they get the strong arm in soon and inform Marshall that he's welcome here, we love him, but his *** is going to do exactly as he's told if he wants to keep that big paycheck.

If that's true, as good as a decision as this is, that's a REALLY bad sign...

If Parcells leaves in the near future, I'm going to wonder if signs point to this. We say how that worked out with Jerry Jones. In fairness though Jerry Jones is kind of the devil, so, that might be part of it too.

Parcells would be gone the instant that happened this is a compromise since Ross owns the Team and wants to sell tickets and Jerseys.

Maybe.....but at the very least I would guess that Ross put a heavy amount of pressure on them to get this guy. And the fact he's an elite talent made it easier for them to bend their "rules" a little.

Interesting take JS, I could very easily see this you know, I mean Parcells covets these big bodies, so I'm sure this got their approval....

All in all though, I would rather get this done now, and out of the way, than come the end of July when this thing kicks off for real, and he "meets the press" for the first time on the field.....

Marshall is such a lighting rod, and much like him Dansby is top 3 in his position, but it is different.....the overall story of Brandon Marshall is one everybody wants to hear....

With Marshall's past issues, it's probably for the ebstt hat they just have a big press conference and get the questions out of the way so he's not being asked about it at mandatory media availabilities during camp

this probably makes the most sense to me.

It's going to be very important for Marshall to show some maturity now. Him already working out with the team is a good start. I can't wait to see what he's going to say during his press conference.

I don't...... look at how much more of an "advertiser" he is than previous owners. Doing everything he can to get the fans attention. I'm quite sure a guy like that keeps his ears open to the buying public. He understands that the some of the initial polish of this regime has worn off and many in south Florida were starting to have some doubts.

Or Maybe he made his wishes known and let the FO handle it..Rumor has it at a game last year Ireland was overheard telling Ross "We will get you that number one WR"...sounds like an owner being and owner and a GM being a GM to me...Im sure even a hands off guy like Kraft is kept "in the loop".

Me too RR, I think ur going to see a different side of Marshall, the thing is with this kid, is he interviews well, always laughing, has that big smile, is a likable guy....the off the field stuff doesnt translate into the way he is when talking about football....One thing is he is dedicated to football...I would gather we will all see it today....
