If Hartline is being threatened by the media he needs to alert the NFLPA and the league ASAP.

 

This is sounding more and more like Martin just didnt want to play but he wants to get paid.

 

I think Hartline kind of opened some can of worms. His comments about the text and his implied comment about Martin laughing at it will be followed up on. There will be further discussion on it without a doubt because it is already happening on NFLN.

 

If the goal of these players was to get the media off their backs then they failed miserably.

Sure. If you give them nothing then eventually there is nothing to talk about and the press gets bored.

Just say its a tough situation and that you wish both guys the best regardless of what happened. Instead now the media has several new angles to dig around.

 

The media isn't bullying them. The media is following a legitimate news story. They just don't like it because it generally makes them all look bad.

 

I'm getting sick of both now. And now that the players got their points out, you know what time it is? It's time to actually PROVE that you're a united team by winning games and making the playoffs. Otherwise they just look like frauds if they don't actually show anything and lose to the Winless Bucs, or more imporantly, their fellow AFC playoff contenders they have coming up.

The media that is saying that their is no leadership in the locker room are not just following a legitimate news story.

 

Bullying and racism in the locker room of America's favorite sport....the media will eat it right up. It was pretty obvious after we learned that Martin texted him to say he didn't blame him and they have a bunch of pictures and conversations together online that something was fishy. The voicemail was a joke from the start and 99% of people here and everywhere couldn't fathom it. Now we learn even Martin was laughing along.

People let the media paint a picture for them. Props to some posters like SICK and DJ for keeping a level head in this (as well as others).

Some of the things the players said today don't hold much water. For instance when John Jerry was asked what he would do if Incognito called him a n**ger he said he would just laugh it off, I seriously doubt that. Also some of Hartline's comments were a little out of line.

You don't know the relationship between John Jerry and Richie Incognito, which is why this issue is a tricky one to judge from an outsider's perspective. (Plus Richie never said it to John Jerry anyways, hypotheticals are fun.)

Do I agree with what Richie said to Jonathan Martin? No. But that doesn't really matter.

 

people make mistakes in life, my philosophy is as long as their intentions are in the right place it's all good, obviously Richie took it to a level that most people can't fathom, I take it as a sense of good friendship, as hard as that is for folks to believe, it absolutely is imo..The mistake was going there with a young dude who has some real emotional issues..

 

Honestly, the entire team, Martin included, is just coming across to me as so unlikable that I'm having a hard time mustering up any desire to root for them at the moment. I'll admit to hypocrisy in advance as I'm sure a 5 game win streak would get me back on board, but right now, I just don't like anybody from Ross on down.

If Richie Incognito is the hero of your story, you are telling a terrible story

 

By printing the text of a naughty joke voicemail and painting the big bad man as a psycho racist who was sent by the entire staff to demonize the kindest person on the team. What the media and Martin are doing now is far worse than anything going on in the locker room. This is a lesson in how easily they can skew reality to fit a certain agenda.

 

And why would Jerry not tell the truth if he thought Richie was some ****ing racist? Its pretty sad these same reporters that are in locker rooms constantly are acting like they having heard the N word in a locker room before.

 

Then dont. You hardly had a postive image of this team before this incident anyways....

Be careful, not all the details have been released yet. Today was no make or break moment, but that catharsis you may be feeling is because we were all begging for any kind of additional information.

You are right and of course more could come out. It may result in both guys never playing for the Dolphins or in general....but that team we just saw (and coach) was one with nuts sticking up for themselves. Kind of refreshing. I don't see how it could be seen as a negative.

 

The truth is slowly coming out, and it's not exactly playing into the doom and gloomers hands, like they'd hoped.

It hasn't got worse before getting better, and I think if mods want to tease with secrets from the club forum, of how we know nothing and that the franchise will hit rock bottom with heads a' Rollin'......... They may owe an apology ! We won't get it, but this situation has left a lot of folks embarrassing themselves, aside from the two players.
