Now that Infinity Ward isn't around to release a disaster of a game ala MW2, I'll definitely give it a shot. I personally love that it's going to be set in Vietnam.
-
I'm really looking forward to this, MW2 was a freaking disaster. There are so many things wrong with that game it isn't even comprehendable. How such a large company can release such a hyped game with so many problems makes my mind boggle. Albeit it's fixed, the akimbo Model 1887 shotguns was one of them, what were the programmers thinking, honestly? Then of course you have the unlimited grenade launcher crap, shotguns as secondaries, overpowered killstreaks, commando knifing, thermal scopes, no recoil guns, etc, etc.
I'm a huge WaW fan, and love what Treyarch did with that game. Hopefully they got back to the 3-5-7 killstreak set up they implemented on WaW and COD4 had.
In regards to the trailer, I analyzed it and noticed a lot of things that were interesting. It obviously won't only take place in Vietnam, you can tell because on scene is telling where it appears to be Russian soldiers in a snow covered forest. Also, I noticed the AUG appeared in that trailer along with the Huey, SR-71 recon plane, RPK, M4, I believe a Cobra an of course, if you freeze the trailer at the beginning when the guy is lying in that drugged state, you can see the date March 1st 2010 is shown on one of those televisions.
I have a feeling this game is going to have an Assassins Creed feel. Like you go back in time and relieve the battles or something, that's the best guess I could give just going off of the teaser.McLovin likes this. -
It amazes me how many people nitpick with Modern Warfare 2. It's pretty obvious that if people lose, they get pissed and complain. It doesn't matter how, they'll still complain about it.
-
world at war was NOTHING like modern warfare.
treyarch > infinty ward.
yes there were problems with any COD game. but treyarch seems to care more about the community. they ask for feed back and suggestions. infact they are already taking suggestions from players about what to put in the next game.
treyarch had like 3 map packs where infinity ward only does 1.
treyarch had nazi zombies which is like getting a completely different game for free. infinity ward adds nothing.
even treyarchs MULTIPLE map packs each had an additional map for the nazi zombie game mode.
i think i recall hearing something about infinity ward not even making any mroe COD games after MW2.
and with treyarch you can look forward to not having make believe cheater crap in the game. things like heart beat sensors, thermal scopes, tactical insertions and perks that make you invicible to bullets while you are covering 30 feet of ground to knife some one in less then the blink of an eye. -
-
MW2 is a game, therefore has flaws. However, it's not garbage by any means. Yes I would like more maps. That's one positive. However some of your complaints are B.S. Don't like Heart Beat sensors? Use Ninja. Don't like Thermal? Use Cold Blooded. Don't like Tac insertions? Use Sit Rep.
That's what makes this game fun, you can play any number of ways. -
-
Anyone who defends the game is blinded by the hype, it really is that simple and honestly, if IW had a public beta like Bungie is having with Reach, all these problems could have easily been avoided, or they would have just been pushed aside because IW is lazy, seeing as they've known about the One Man Army bull**** for months, talked about doing something and have yet to address it. -
-
I have COD4, MW2, COD WaW, and BF BC2. All 4 of those games have their strengths and flaws, however I hate none of them. For example, I absolutely LOVED the campaign of MW2. It is one of the most fun I had in a brief single player campaign. I am neither a fanboy of IW, Treyarch, nor DICE. But ad hominems are fun though!
-
For what it's worth, I intensely dislike Call of Duty but actually enjoyed MW2. Singleplayer, that is. I've generally dropped out of online gaming, it's a collection of jerks. -
-
And as for "cheater crap", most of that stuff exists and is used in real life. What I like about it is that with the right class setup you can render those things useless. (Marathon - Cold Blooded - Ninja FTW)
Now every game has it's glitches. What makes for horrible play are the people who exploit them. I have a great time playing with people who play the game fair. Once I see an idiot start trying o glitch I just look for a new lobby. Problem solved. -
(Insert Vendigo extolling the virtues of Portal here.)
MW2's single player was entertaining for me, unlike almost every other CoD game in existence. I've never liked the way CoD presented war as an on-rails Nazi funhouse shooter, and liked Brothers in Arms much more. But MW2 had some nice moments and was bearable between those moments. It had a couple of BS "how the hell did I just die?" moments, such as the White House lawn area, but for the most part it was great. Best part of the game? The immediate aftermath of the EMP.
tl;dr Multiplayer? What? -

please, do show me these:
real life heart beat sensors that distinguish between enemy and friendly heart beats.
people that can sprint for unlimited lengths of time.
people that can lunge 20 feet in the blink of an eye without being hurt or even slowed down by several bullets
thermal scopes that show 32 degree snow as the same color as a 98 degree person.
flares that let you choose where you want to appear out of thin air.
and training that allows you spot explosives and other equipment glowing red, on the other side of a wall 1/4 mile away.
some days it feels like people dont think before they say things. -
No ones even mentioned Modded remotes yet lol. I dont know why all you guys think its such a bad game. I really like it and play it way more than I should. Play with a few ppl from here too (Griddles, Stitches, McLovin, Clark Kent). Nothing is gunna be perfect but this game is alot of fun.

You hit the nail on the head... This is a GAME. Not having fun with it? Don't play it. You'll have Dark Ops in a few months (which I will likely buy).
Speaking of playing, I'll probably be M.I.A. for the next two weeks. I've got papers to write and limited time (I hate having a Job). I got ****ed up big time in one game this mourning. This clan of n00b tubers destroyed me, Gr33n, and Upgrade. They went like 14-35 and I went 28-34. It was pathetic.
p.s. I've never even beaten the single player campaign. Too busy online. -

That is simply amazing and the most realistic game I've played and continue to play.
BTW, you playing Bad Company 2 on PC or console?
EDIT: OpFlash was one of my biggest disappointments ever. -
Opflash 2 was definitely a disappointment, especially being a sequel to one of the greatest games of all time. I still liked the campaign though. I liked ArmA 1 and 2 as well. Too bad they're such buggy games. You just don't find too many games like those in the ArmA/OpFlash series as far as single player goes. We need more non linear war games  -

I've got a Q6600 and a Radeon 4850 X2 and still have trouble with that game. Granted, I haven't overclocked the Q6600, and performance has improved as the game has received patches, with apparently the upcoming 1.06 patch also helping performance. But still, ArmA 2 is the new Crysis, except that no one plays it. -
Not to derail this thread but PR:ArmA II is going to be sick. Check out the vids here;
