Are they ****ing kidding me? What every 6 months a new COD comes out?

So its essentially new skins, new 3 hour Campaign, a couple of cosmetic changes to the gameplay and that warrants a 60$ price tag?

Its the Madden of the FPS Genre.

Yea, a new one comes out every November. Hopefully this one will be better then MW2 cause MW2 sucked. Well COD:WAW sucked also. So i cant be too optimistic about this one being any better.

As long as they bring back Nazi Zombies cause that was the other thing i played in COD:WAW.

What was wrong with MW2? They finally acknowledged the tenuous realism of the series and ran with it. The result was a very fun game, at least in single player mode. Can't say much about the multiplayer, because pretty much every online game not named Team Fortress 2 sucks.

As for Black Ops, it looks like it takes place over multiple eras, and it might have a couple of unique elements. Honestly, I'm somewhat excited for it. The Medal of Honor reboot looks better, but I'll probably play both. Offline, that is.

I loved MW2 as a single player experience. Like being in an action movie. Beat it on 360 and PS3... Only game to date I've ever done that with.

yesssssssssssssssssss

Definitely. People complain that the single player was over the top compared to CoD4, but I don't see it. CoD has always been over the top. That was the point: it's Hollywood warfare.

To clear some things up, when i was referring to MW2 sucking, i was referring to the multi-player part. The single player story was awesome. I have beat the single player story mode like 5 times. That part is fun.

Its the Madden of the FPS Genre.

How is it the Madden of FPS if a new one comes out every 6 months? Madden comes out yearly. :tongue2:

I think it'd be more accurate to say the Need for Speed of FPS's but even then it's probably a bit of a stretch.

Having two developers (Infinity Ward and Treyarch) certainly makes it easier for games to come out quicker by the way.

Pete you always get Technical. I just meant they hardly change anything and slap a 60$ price tag. Kinda like EA and Madden. I'm in the minority here but I hate games that become Obsolete after a year.

TF2 FTW!

How is TF2 not obsolete at this point? there's all of 2 variants of gameplay, and a few maps. OH, I get it... It's not obsolete because they haven't made TF3. That's not fair to judge a game's merit based on the developer's ability to punch out a sequel.

You must love Wii Play then (considering how long it topped the sales chart).

TF2 isn't obsolete for the same reasons Starcraft persisted for so long: active updates. TF2 has had 119 updates since its original release, a lot of those adding new maps and game modes. I think the game's install size has doubled over its life due to said new content.

That game has a lot of life left in it. Far more than Left 4 Dead or Call of Whatever, IMO.

I play the PC version. You know the one where they update the game constantly making it relevant?

Not to mention the Class updates. Valve has been very good to the Community.

i need to point out that there are now 3 studios working on call of duty. Infinity Ward (whats left of it, anyway), Treyarch, and now sledgehammer games. There will, eventually, be 2 call of duty games in one year.

I don't know its just irritating. Even if its 3 studios pumping out the damn series how about making a game that will blow everything in its Genre away instead of just recycling over and over. Just seems average.

"Respawn Entertainment marks a fresh start for Jason and me," Zampella said in a statement. "For the past decade we led a great development team and poured our hearts into creating an epic game franchise. We're very proud of what we built – and proud that so many millions of fans enjoyed those games. Today we hope to do it all over again — open a new studio, hire a great team, and create brand new games with a new partner, EA."

from wikipedia:

According to preliminary sales figures from Activision, Modern Warfare 2 sold approximately 4.7 million units in both the United States and the UK in the first 24 hours of its release. The total revenue from first day sales in the U.S. and the UK was $310 million, making Modern Warfare 2 the biggest entertainment launch in history, surpassing (in revenue) its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto IV,[84][85] as well as items from other media types.[86][87] After five days of sales, the game had earned revenue figures of $550 million worldwide.[88] As of January 18, 2010, it has taken over $1 billion in sales.[89]

Activision also claims that Modern Warfare 2 had 8 million players online within the first five days, constituting the largest 'army' of players in the world.[90] On March 8 2010, Robert Bowling announced that the game had amassed 25 million unique players.[91]

According to the NPD Group, Modern Warfare 2 sold approximately 4.2 million units for the Xbox 360 and 1.87 million units for the PlayStation 3 in the U.S. during the month of November 2009.[92] In Japan, Modern Warfare 2 sold 64,000 copies for the Playstation 3 and 42,000 copies for the Xbox 360 in its first week of sales.[93] The game later sold 117,000 copies on the Playstation 3 and 61,000 on the Xbox 360[94] before it sold 178,000 copies for both systems.[95] Anita Frazer of the NPD Group reported in March 2010 that the game had sold slightly under 10 million copies in the U.S. alone.[96][19]

By the way, that 10M number puts MW2 as the 3rd best selling game of all time in North America.

So I guess I'd say the most recent COD blew other titles of the genre away.
