Hey do you think it is possible? Crowder was asked about this and this was his response:

 Crowder is our new Tim Ruddy; no matter how many guys they throw at him to replace him, he just keeps on truckin'.

two seasonsago crowder played very well in my opinion. if he can return to that form he should have nothing to worry about.

Tim Dobbins has upside enough that if he hits it, he's better than Crowder has been. If Crowder plays like he did last year, it's not even close.
I've been a big Crowder defender, but would you ever expect Crowder to do something like make three no-gain tackles on a goal line stand? On Marion Barber, running behind Leonard Davis? -
I believe Dobbins on 1st and 2nd downs, and Edds possibly on third downs to replace Crowder. I don't believe Crowder starts another game here in Miami.

it has been way overdue imo
1 int and a couple of sacks in 5 seasons
sounds like you think he won't be here in 2010 :wink2: -

Crowder more than likely would have:
A:Taken the wrong gap
B. Slipped
C. eaten a ham sandwich -

Channing Crowder will start this season. It's more likely that AJ Edds will unseat Crowder than Dobbins, IMO. And I think Edds will be use as a coverage specialist in nickel packages and obvious passing downs this year...
Some of us are really setting the bar pretty high for Dobbins... -

In the who really the fook cares dept, Nathan Strikwerda, now goes by Nathan Strik and lives in Merry Ol' England. Where men are men and sheep are scared.
I'm hoping Dobbins gives Crowder a lot more serious comp than the aforementioned centers ever gave Ruddy.MikeHoncho likes this. -
probably not

Interesting thought. I think Dobbins, at his best is slightly better than Crowder. I think Crowder at his best is superior to Dobbins. We know that Crowder had rough years throughout his career, mostly due to his getting knicked up a lot. That said, his best years were beside a great MLB in ZT. Dansby represents that 'great ILB' that ZT was for a while with Crowder. He operates much better when he's not the focal point of the D, and that may be just enough for us to see the better of the Crowder we've seen in the past....He'll always be a weakness in pass coverage, that leopard doesn't change spots, but he can be the thumper and run stopper that allows Dansby to do his thing.
It'll be very interesting to watch and you'd think, as long has he's healthy and with the money he's making, he'll get the first shot and probably more time to prove himself than Dobbins will. Tie in the fact that Dobbins is a great STer and would probably be the best b/u ILB we've seen here in years and you can connect the dots that Crowder will best Dobbins, at least for this season....but he'll certainly be looking over his shoulder harder than at any time in the past... -

I remember 1 big play out of crowder. In 2008, on 4th & goal from the 1 (I think), he stuffed Ladamian Tomlinson. I think that was right after we beat down the Pats* with the wildcat and helped give the team confidence that largely carried over the rest of the season.
Other than that, he hasn't made a momentous play since he's been here. -
he is a liability wherever you put him
the guy isn't going to suddenly get better after 5 seasons of being average

I think Crowder's days in Miami are definitely numbered. Between his injury and his sub par play, in combination with the added competition brought in, and I can definitely see a scenario in which he doesn't make the team this season. How well he responds to the competition, and his injury, and how well Dobbins performs will all be determining factors in what direction the FO decides to go.

I think Channing is not a personal leader, and lacks the fire and self-motivation to be great. I wouldn;t be surprised if he were part5 of the lackadaisical faction of the defense that Roonnie Brown and others alluded to down the stretch in 2009. It sounds like those who sided with the upset Joey Porter didn;t give their all out there. From Channing's radio show with Joey Porter it certainly sounded like he had Joey's back in the disagreement with the coaches.
Furthermore, Channing got paid in 2008 (after hustling hard for the money in a contract year) then tailed off badly once he got paid. Any guesses whether the Front Office likes this kind of player? Let's not forget him fleeing the scene of an accident on his crutches to avoid a DUI charge. He was probably faster that night than he has ever been on the field for the Dolphins because he was actually motivated.
Final thought: Channing's issues seems to be more attitude than ability. When the Front Office drafts 8 guys and 7 of them are TEAM CAPTAINS I think it tells you the Dolphins want a LOT more personal leadership and self-motivation on that field.
Channing doesn't fit the mold. -
Rashad Jones = The Cheaper Gibril Wilson
Tim Dobbins = The Cheaper Channing Crowder -

1) He doesn't show quite as much explosion as he could... which he could fix with a DEDICATED weightlifting program.
2) He doesn't show as much fluidity and flexibility in his hips and body... which could be improved with dedication to yoga, and stretching programs to be more athletic and looser.
3) He's not fast. Okay, ya can't do a lot about this. A little, but not a lot.
I do not believe for a second that Channing has worked hard (Zach Thomas hard) to max out his physical capabilities and his body. 2/3 are related back to his attitude and dedication.
Can you remember EVER seeing Cahnning show up to a training camp without a cut-off tee and a small pooch belly? Has he ever looked like he is hardcore into training his body to you?
That's what a professional, a self-motivated leader does, imo.
Jerry Rice trained 7 hours a day in the offseason.
Walter Payton did the same (running those infamous hills).
Channing Crowder's favorite offseason activities? Fishing, video games and South Beach nightclubs.
Wonder why his body's not as impressive physically?djphinfan likes this. -

You nailed him brother...has not trained his body correctly for this sport imo, look closely at his glutes and hamstrings..soft and weak, has NO explosion upon impact, so stiff he plays like he has a metal rod in his spine, and he better learn how to keep his head on a swivel, or the boy is gonna get hurt..
I look forward to the dobbins crowder challenge.Bpk likes this. -
From Cbs Sports 2005 Draft Profile of Dobbins:
However, Dobbins sounds quite useless in pass coverage.
So, if Crowder leaves we probably see Dobbins on obvious run downs, replaced by Edds on passing downs. -
the real problem is that Crowder is merely a marginal to average ILB ... and really not any better as an OLB, so i don't see any value in moving him back outside. Misi never having played a down in the NFL and even Anderson are much better OLBs than Channing at his best.
does Dobbins really have to be 'that' good to replace him - no, not really. Crowder does not hold the point of attack, nor can he get to the QB on blitzes ... so really, Dobbins doesn't have to be that great to show Crowder the door to be honest.
also believe, if Edds were stronger - he might be able to start from day 1 ... but he is going to need a year to build some strength, but he should be able to fill the 3d down coverage requirements by the start of the season and get Bell off that requirement. that change alone will help our secondary out more than some folks think. -
