I like Troy Glaus... sad to see him go. Rolen is a quality player, however. Go Jays!

 

I think St. Louis gains the edge here. A power hitter to put next to Pujols. I hoped Dodgers could make a play for him since we need the pop at 3B and Glaus is a hometown guy. Oh well.

Scott Rolen has shoulder problems, he injures himself virtually every year now, so the Cardinals are getting a deal if they can make the trade.

I don't see Boston as a serious contender for him, they already have an excellent rotation and Beckett would want a huge jump in salary to be starting ace 1B to go along with Dice K's contract. Maybe that's just pure optimism on my part.

Speaking of optimism, my Theo voo doo doll with pins in the hands have prevented him from finalizing any trade for Santana. ;)

 

Boston could already have him but they don't want to give up Jacoby Ellsbury. If the Red Sox did get him they would easily be the WS favorite. Imagine a rotation with Beckett, Dice-K, Santana, Schilling and Wakefield it would be total domination.

 

here's the biggest difference I see in the players. Glaus is more or less liked by teammates, Rolen tends to wear on people after awhile (absolutely hated in Philly, and was starting to lose fans in St Louis)

Your buddy is spot on. These guys if healthy are pretty much the same type of player (although Rolen has a much better glove). I'd have to say this trade is a wash for both teams and I wouldn't be suprised if both Rolen and Glaus hit the DL a few times this year and play under 120 games each.
