Yeah, it's making its way around Twitter. I find this curious considering the last thing I had heard was that he was going to workout for the Pats. Is he really that banged up?

 

The guy was a glorified battering ram. His job was basically to take on guards and fullbacks, eat up blockers, so others could make plays. Possibly the most physically taxing position IMO.

 

Considering his injury history I guess that has to be the answer. That or only people offering contracts at this time are teams he doesn't want to play for. Wont truly believe it until the paperwork is submitted.

 

Now that rookies are so cheap, I would suspect we'll see a rise in early veteran retirements.

 

I'm pretty sure he could find a role as a broadcaster or analyst on tv. He would be certainly entertaining on pre game shows.

 

Get him in the booth for Dolphins preseason games instead of Bob Griese, Nat Moore, and the other guy (whose name escapes me). They are awful.

This is Channing Crowder....who the f*ck knows if he will go through with this. He's always talking.

 

I would love to see a pro athlete version of "Cheap Seats" with Crowder and anybody else. It could be anything; Bowling, golf, steeplechase, whatever. Just give that man a microphone and a closed set format and let the entertainment ensue...

 

Don't think that'll happen anytime soon. He said that the current organization doesn't want players to have any personality. (He's probably right.)

Could've been a good backup if he restructured.

 

Nothing against the man, but the way I see it is, if someone could retire this young, then their heart cannot truly be in the game. Makes me a little happier his position got upgraded.

 

He told Sid on the radio that he doesn't want to be moving from team to team with their first baby on the way.

Says that he won't miss icing his knees, getting stingers and concussions anymore.

That once he thought about retirement and actually considered it an option, he knew it was time.

I've been hard on Channing. I would always ask him, "When are you going to lead our team in tackles?" and he would laugh and sign my stuff. He was quirky but fun. I'll miss him. Never panned out the way we'd hoped but he's a good dude. I kind of prefer to see him as a "fella" rather than EXPECT things from him as a fan.

It's the reason FA vets flock to Rex Ryan and New York and not Miami.

 

Gotta give it up to Channing. He made a life/family decision. Can't ever criticize him for that.

 

Channing was a good dude. I wish him the best. Leaving the game on your own terms is always a plus.

 

He's going to get a show on WQAM at some point, maybe even during this season. It makes sense he would have a show, I would listen to his take on the other NFL and Dolphins games. He did have a show during last season I remember, once a week for like an hour I think.

And he'll get paid just as much and not have to worry about having to have surgery.

It has absolutely no effect on him. Dolphins deal with 940 WINZ. Crowder will be on WQAM.

Fans might not like it, but he never cared about that. And his radio station bosses won't either.

Personally I think majority of fans appreciate the truth above all else. And it's not like all he's gonna do is bash the team. That's not his style.

I would take almost anyone over Griese. I loved him as a player but as an analyst he is just horrid to listen to.

 

If they'd somehow bump Sid for Crowder, it'd make my day every time.

Never been a big Crowder fan so not upset. But good for him and I can appreciate the fact he didnt want to spend time bouncing from team to team

 

Really surprised by this to be honest. Frankly, I love the guy. I loved his trash talking and getting everybody going. He will be missed in the locker room.
