I got this for Xmas and I have to say I'm pretty impressed. It's a portable chin-up bar that attaches to a doorway without any screws, nails, etc. It uses gravity to lock in place and doesn't move at all.

It gives you a close, wide, and hammer grip and can also be used as a base for crunches or pushups. It's only like $20 in most stores.

I think it's pretty badass and any kind of chinup is def a nice exercise for any of you who are looking for something to switch it up.

Pretty cool. I've seen commercials for it and wondered how it worked. Both how it stayed on in the door (figured that one out :wink2:) and how effective it was. Kind of looking at this and "The Perfect Pushup" thing as an interesting at home workout options. Not sure I'd use them though. When I'm at home I'm lazy. I have to go to the gym to get motivated to workout.

The perfect pushup is a piece of **** IMO. I tried it and that rotating motion made my rotator cuffs feel like they were tearing in half.

:up: For the Iron Gym though. My lats have felt like their going to explode the last few weeks.

Seeing these things pop up EVERYWHERE. When you start seeing them at the check out at Wal-greens thats funny.

Thanks for the heads up Slick. Think I might go pick one up....Oh and I have also heard several bad things about the "Perfect pushup".

IMO, the "Perfect Pushup" would involve Jennifer Aniston or Farrah Fawcett...but thats for a different thread

    Haha.

For $20, it's a great investment. They give you those Ab Strap things to so you can do leg and side raises on it. I was pretty impressed with the quality for such a low price.

I've been looking at this as well, but I already had a screw-in bar, so I decided not to get it. I agree w/ all of you about the 'Perfect Push-up' though; definitely not worth the plastic they're made with. Don't know why anyone would want to mess w/ a pushup anyway...

I dont understand how it wouldnt rip the doorframe apart, but I guess it doesnt. Does it have some kind of weight/stress limit to it that you know of? I was looking at it a bit but im not a small guy and dont feel like combining workouts and home repairs lol.

My guess is it distributes the weight evenly enough between the sides and top of the door that no damage is done. I havent heard it make any sounds that sound detrimental to my door since I've had it.

Duno about weight limits. I'm usually around 200 and its been fine for me.

I think they already did; it's called 'gravity'.:tongue2: Seriously though, try a one or two-minute wall squat...or 100 strict body weight squats- if you can get that high:wink2: That'll kick your butt somethin' serious.

*Or you can do what I do: sling your wife/significant other across your shoulders and do some squats that way. If they struggle, it becomes a great core workout as well!

    Well away from here
Lunges on a step for your legs. Great way to include your hamstrings into the mass portion of a workout. Make sure your groin is stretched though, or you'll know about it in a hurry.

How does one stretch their groin

 I do that almost daily but I don't think this is the same thing........ ....

Whats a 100 strict body weight squat? Do you mean just doing 100 wall squats?

The thing about chin ups is you will always favor one arm, and not generate even muscle gain.

That pretty much goes for any two arm exercise, but more so for chin ups.

Be sure to do single arm curls and what not.

 No, no, no man- I meant 100, as in doing a hundred, body weight squats in a strict manner, ie- keeping to strict form (just like a regular squat, only using just one's own body weight). Believe it or not, it doesn't take a whole long time to do a hundred squats- it just hurts like hell!

To me, a wall squat is a static position, hence they are timed, not recorded by number of times done. If you know of a different way, I'd love to hear it. I'm always down for something new- if it's effective that is.:knucks:

Only real variation that I've seen is using one of those exercise balls to lean against between you and the wall. That and holding dumbells.

Yeah, others found it for $20.00. I found it for $30.00 with no straps :( BUT it's ok, I've had an incredible streak of luck lately and if I have to compromise here then so be it :)

That blows, but just match up the others with similiar screws of length, 2 washers and 2 nuts and your good to go.
