Sad to say that the best rock/alternative vocalist of the last 30 years looks to have taken his own life. He seemed to be in control of prior demons but police seem to think foul play was involved. From the time I was between ages 14-20 I don't think more then a week went by without playing Superunknown and Badmotorfinger.
Not many artists have a 4 octave voice..most can barely do one or two. Sad to see another musical legend pass.

All the facts aren't in so I'm tempering that anger for now.cuchulainn and Boik14 like this. -
Driving down the road yesterday taking my dog to the emergency vet to try and save one of her eyes.
This version was playing on Sirius, I had tears streaming down my face. My wife looked at me and thought it was all about the dog.
Part of it was.

Crying shame. Loved listening to Soundgarden when I was living in Seattle in mid-90's. Was listening to them yesterday morning. I lived pretty close to Cobain when he committed suicide during that time. Troubled talent makes for great artistry.

Greatest singer of his generation and wrote some of the most beautiful intelligent though dark lyrics. Really crushed by this loss. Seemed like the last person to commit suicide though maybe a lifetime of exploring the dark side of life lead to a moment of weakness that got cemented by another pharmaceutical pill. My prayers go out to his family. Can't even begin to imagine what they're going through.
here are some tributes from the musical community

Cornell was found dead at MGM Grand Detroit on Wednesday night. Medical examiners have ruled that Cornell died of suicide by hanging, but his family have since spoken out saying they believe that the side effects of the prescription drug Ativan may have led him to thoughts of self-harm. (Worsening depression and thoughts of self-harm are known rare side effects of the drug.)
