A fine reward for his line of scrimmage play. The guy is breaking up runs in the backfield and disrupting plays all season. Playing very physical as well. Nice to see him develop over the years and the best is ahead of him I believe.

Starks is massively influencing both the run plays AND pass plays. So far, he may be our most valuable defensive player next to Wake... or maybe equally. -
Serious question.... do you think Odrick could perform near the same level if he replaced Starks next year?

My opinion is no , Starks is an interesting player , entered the league dramatically uneraged (20 ) and has had a couple of dominant type years ( including this one ) . Right player , right situation , we are seeing that he is indeed a difference maker. -
Well, he is clearly a 4-3 DT. I wish we hadn't tried to move the guy to NT that one year. What wasted time that was for Randy, though the experience made him stouter vs the run and improved his levearage and two-gapping technique, I'm sure.
I don;t know if there is a more well rounded player at DT against both the pass and the run than him right now. It's a short list, that's for sure. -
Odie is simply miscast as a DE, but if you look at the roster and our current DT's the only way he sees the field is at DE.
This is one of the reasons why at this point, maybe Andre Carter makes sense. -
Near it. But not as impactful overall. Starks is the kind of player that impacts games. The delta between a Starks and Odrick may not be that big but it tends to cost a lot and be valuable.ssmiami likes this.
