Is what did this game in from the get..
Just like Jacksonville, There was no dictating to the defense today using your Qbs strengths, in the whole first half, not one roll, not one boot, not one read option, and not one improv run for a first down by the qb, I don't know who the hell they think they are, but if the coordinator and qb don't accept what he is and start implementing a proper gameplan that reflects the skill set of the qb, were not accomplishing anything.
there was 1 rollout in the 2nd half, and it was a good play, a completion for a first down..and thats it...Thats just not right man..come on guys, what are you thinking..
The very beginning of the game was a recipe of predicted disaster, to run into their interior line on first down and to keep ryan static in the pocket on the next was lazor and co. first big mistake. You must dictate to the defense that your qb will not be in one position early in the game, the very first play of the game going against that front should reflect that..just like jacksonville, same results..
Having 1st down and goal at the 5 yard line...conservative...having the ball at the end of the game with a chance to close it out after a great three and out by the defense, conservative..it was weak *** BS...Attack with your qbs skill set..on first down.
This team had better players than the lions, it was obvious to me the coaches did not meet their end of the bargain in this game..
Hasn't lazor learned his lesson, does he not understand that this qb is a dual threat qb.??? and that he plays better, and the offense plays better,when the gameplan reflects the skill set?? .........OBVIOUSLY not.not when you have the most dangerous dual threat qb in the league rollout 1 freakin time the whole game..I repeat, not one read option, only 1 rollout to the right, and not one qb run..
Somebody needs to sit this coordinator and qb down and tell them what the deal is.

Ok.. So now we have reason number 442 as to why we lost today.
Just stop.. We lost because Detroit won. They have a great defense and great weapons on offense.

i see one reason why we lost, not utilizing the qbs skill set properly, and being way to conservative in certain situations..players are tools, tools that coaches should be able to move around to accumulate space..we failed in both regards..
we lost because detroit won..lol..good explanation...bs, we have better players. -
Miami finally faces a good defense after facing Oakland San Diego jacksonville and Chicago, and the offense falls apart. Not surprised at all.
Forget your "the legs, he must use the legs" excuse. Good defensive teams keep these read option quarterbacks in the pocket and force them to make throws. And thats what the Lions are and did today -
he didn't run past the los once...unaccetable..on his part, and on the coordinator..
of course he's going to have a couple plays where he has to move off his spot, he did so in very minimal fashion...
it was a bottom line, very poor gameplan.
So if your ok with not getting the qb outside the pocket where he is lethal going to both sides, then I'm not sure who or what your standing by, if your ok with not running the qb who has the highest running average in the game, then you are simply protecting your team from deserved criticism..If your ok with our qb not taking it upon his own to run for 1 goddamn first down on his own, then your blinded by your passion for the team..
You see, I have no patience when I know we had better players than the opponent and lose. -

no we don't. you have some homer glasses with that one. you can argue all day who has the better Dline. Today, theirs was much better, so was their Oline. When we blitzed 7, Stafford still had time to throw. They have better WRs than us too.
We lost because we ran into the #1 defense, playing at home, after a bye. In the first half, if Tannehill had tried to run, he would have been squashed. Now in 2nd half, I thought we had a little more room to run Tannehill, but it's moot IMO because Tannehill was passing better in the 2nd half. -
...and game ball should have gone to Brent Grimes. That dude played his fargin arse off today.

Our only touchdown was setup by Dion Jordan. No, Ryan did not make the throws, hes a below average pocket passer and the Lions knew they need to keep him in the pocket and did so.

I don't think the read option is quite as vital as DJ is making it, but calling it once and then seemingly(?) not again after a negative result was cowardly and a poor reflection on Lazor. You cribbed a huge amount of your offense from someone who has a large amount of built-in adjustments to defensive counter-measures. If the Lions were sending a safety as a scrape guy after the quarterback, Chip Kelly has an adjustment for that.

nothing is moot..ryan gave them points on the int return, as in took point off and gave them point in one play, he also threw a should of been pick in the end zone, taking points off the board..they also faked punt us to get some points...
basically the game lets say was even from a player talent standpoint..not utilizing the qbs skill set early and throughout the game is unnacceptable, have you not seen whats been happening with our qb, you do realize we didn't run once, he didn't run once, we only moved him by design once the entire game..this is ridiculous gamelanning and a complete lack of understanding of how to attack a certain defense with the talent that you have.
Does ryan tannehill think he's to good to run for a frekin first down to help our team....not one of those today..thats just irresponsible, poor awareness and poor situational football...The coordinator running into the teeth of the defense on first down at the beginning f the game is a joke, dropping him strait back on 2nd an even bigger one.. -
Take your own advice. I'd much rather someone give a long explanation on something I didn't agree with rather than single line ****-posting and awful worn **** like "I award no points."

absofreakinlutely..that defense played well enough to win...the offensive coaches lost this game...and it won't go unnoticed ill tell ya that..
its all right in front for all to see...we have a unique effective dual threat qb that was used strictly from the pocket...thats on coaching and its Bs.
I'm good with our effort, not unhappy with our players, but this crap about keeping him static in the pocket to protect him or whatever the hell reason they have for not utilizing ryan tannehills total skill set is about as dumb as it gets for a prof at this level.

I don't think anyone is actually getting hurt running the read option. In fact I think everyone who has gotten hurt in the last several years in an offense running it has done so on a drop-back.

I think down the stretch we're going to see fewer QB runs. I say this because now teams have half a season's worth of film on this offense and the new-look mobile Tannehill. They know how important this is to our offense. The QB run stuff isn't going to be as available, imo. More of a week-to-week chess match with DCs game-planning to shut down the zone read stuff and perhaps using an extra man to contain him.
We'll see on Thursday against another good front. -

I really don't see how you say the Dolphins had better players than the Lions.
The Lions defense came into the game ranked #1 in the league. The only TD they gave up today was after the FG block by the Dolphins and the Dolphins went a grad total of 7 yards for that TD.
Stafford is a better QB than Tannehill and has proved it over his time in the league. The Lions also have a definite advantage in their starting WR's and the OL of the Lions clearly outplayed the OL of the Dolphins today.
I would also take the RB's of the Lions over the RB's of the Dolphins.
As far as Tannehill being the most dangerous dual threat in the league is concerned. Until Tannehill shows that he can throw a pass over 20 yards and complete it on a consistent basis, he isn't going to scare too many of the top defenses in the NFL. I felt the Lions went into the game with the idea of stopping the Dolphins running game, including the running of Tannehill.
They seemed to be saying to the Dolphins offense and Tannehill in particular, beat us with the pass if you can. They weren't worried about the deep ball and therefore the Dolphins weren't able to utilize the pass to drive the length of the field.
Tannehill may yet develop into a solid mid tier QB in the NFL, but until he can prove to defenses that he can hit the longer passes on a consistent basis, I just don't see him leading this team to the playoffs and especially not to the Super Bowl.
While Tannehill has shown improvement in some aspects of the game. Until he proves that he can he is a QB who can consistently lead his team to victories in the fourth quarter of close games, he will never be more than a QB with a decent arm and an ability to use his legs from time to time.
The teams who make the playoffs and win Super Bowls usually have either a great defense which makes plays when the game is on the line. If not, they have a franchise QB who leads his team to victory in the 4th quarter on a consistent basis.
Right now the Dolphins have a good defense, but not the type of defense which can be counted on late in games to make a play to win a close game.
Tannehill seems to play well when the Dolphins get a big lead, but he just can't be counted on to lead the team on a long drive to win the game or run out the clock in the closing minutes of a close game.
Considering the fact the Lions really had the better talent on the field today, I think the coaches did a good job preparing the team. Unfortunately as they did against the Packers, it appears the coaches and the players forgot that you have to be prepared to play the entire 60 minutes. -
