- projects to OLB in NFL, most likely, though could play strongside OLB who moves to undersized rush end in four front like Colts. Nice eventual replacement for Robert Mathis. For us, he would project to Misi's role and be the nickel DE opposite Wake instead of Olivier Vernon. And BOY would he be SO much better than Vernon.
- those legs never stop moving
- great lower body movement, fluidity, stride, hip flexibility
- strong enough for his size
- great first two steps
- a strongside backer in 3-4, maybe even 4-3. Could play Misi's role, and move to DE in pass rush situations.
- commands a LOT of double teams. Imagine Wake also getting that attention.. it would be very difficult for an offense to pass protect and still put enough guys out into patterns. These are the guys that tip the numbers advantage in favor of the defense.
- his weaknesses is if you run right at him with drive blocking, but good to great when scraping along line side to side versus run (one play he takes on guard, sheds him, blows up lead blocking TE then goes and makes the tackle on the RB in the backfield on a toss).
- ****ing SMART at setting up the Tackles. Killing them on speed to outside, so then he fakes inside... then on another rush he steps hard to the edge, then FEINTS inside and the Tackle commits, and then he CONTINNUES the edge rush. The pass rush equivalent of a double move and it totally beat the tackle
- really shortens that corner. One of the best I've seen at cornering sharply in the draft.
He killed Florida. Killed them.
Where has this guy been hiding? How is he not getting twice the press Mingo is? Lemonier is the real deal version of Mingo.
I would rather have Lemonier than Mingo.

Overview
Blessed with an explosive first step and a high-revving motor, Lemonier (pronounced Lemon-eer) ranks as one of the more intriguing of a talented crop of pass rushers throughout the country.
A true junior, Lemonier exploded last season to post 47 tackles, including a team-leading 13.5 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks (which also led the team), helping him to rack up First Team All-SEC honors from league coaches.
He flashed playmaking ability as a true freshman, earning a spot on the all-conference freshman team with 17 tackles, including five tackles for loss and two sacks.
Analysis
Lemonier plays defensive end for Auburn and has the size potential and upper body strength to remain at this position in the NFL. However, most will view him as an outside linebacker conversion to the traditional 3-4 scheme.
He's able to beat tackles with his speed upfield and has a nice spin move back inside. He exhibits good straight-line speed in pursuit, as well as the good vision and agility to weave through the trash. Lemonier delivers a strong blow to the ballcarrier and attempts to strip the ball.
While possessing some exciting traits, Lemonier has some flaws, however. He's stiff in his upper body, not showing the flexibility to dip under the reach of offensive tackles and doesn't show the functional strength or lateral agility to beat blockers once engaged.
Put simply, if Lemonier's first move isn't effective, he generally struggles to separate from the blocker. Too often tight ends and running backs, as well as offensive linemen, are able to effectively block him. He does play hard, however, showing excellent effort in pursuit. Some of his most impressive tackles, in fact, come five or more yards downfield.

This is where our four years of adding good but not great players can actual block the addition of great players to the roster. It's easy for the organization to say "Well, we already have a guy who is pretty good at that role." -
MODS, if you get the chance could you delete the "GAMES WATCHED" portion of the thread title. I didn't mean to include that and also, it's incorrect. I have not yet watched 2013's games because they haven't happened.

That video made me want to watch Trey Burton's snaps. He looks big but quick.

Dansby won't be sent packing this year. He's far too valuable and simply would cost too much in dead cap. I have no idea why there is this weird hatred of Karlos Dansby. He's a leader, and damn fine MLB, and he's an asset to that defense as a whole.
Next season his cap will be huge, so I'm all for cutting the guy and moving on. Move Misi to the inside.MrClean likes this. -
Would be a shame in its own way for Miami not to come out of this Draft with an ILB/MLB prospect. There are good ones available. Manti Te'o, Arthur Brown, Kevin Minter, Vince Williams, A.J. Klein...quality names.

CK, I've speculated this on another forum I frequent (a good one, not "that" one) and I was met with complete division.
Miami is sitting @ #12 and they are looking at Manti Te'o. Does Miami grab him, planning for the future and the inevitable cutting of Karlos Dansby? Is he that level of prospect? -

If he has another good season in 2013, maybe his deal can be reworked and extended to alleviate the cap hit for 2014.ToddPhin likes this. -

I love Lemonier as a prospect as well, but unlike some are projecting I believe they would need to take him at the top of the 2nd to get him cause he has a mid 2nd round grade and IMO won't be there at the top of the 3rd. I would much rather have a Manti Te'o or Arthur Brown type player if one of those fall to the top of the 2nd. I do agree that although he had a down year at Auburn, it was because their team was awful and offered next to nothing in the pass rush department besides him so teams could double or even triple team him sometimes.

If he is overpaid a little, I'm not going to worry about it. That is the nature of free agency in the NFL. You have some players making a little more than they are worth and others on the same roster making less than their worth. He is one of our best players. The way that makes sense to build a team IMO, is keep your good players and go out and get some more good players. Our starting LBers a definite team strength and I hope we don't fvck with it.
There are probably some middle relievers and utility infielders in MLB who are making more than the Karlos Dansbys of the NFL. Now, that is the real travesty of professional sports contracts IMO.ToddPhin likes this. -
Doubt we take Lemonier, because he'd cost us a second, IMO, and I don't know that Ireland isnt still thinking Olivier Vernon will be his third down situational pass rush investment who develops in his second season.
I am less hopeful of that than Jeffy. -
I don't think Jeff Ireland would ever use a 1st round pick on a rotational player, and he would tend toward wanting to use 2nd round picks on guys that play a lot...but that's not absolute. There's some evidence that they initially intended Sean Smith to come on the field in nickel while Vontae Davis and Eric Green were set to be the starters. Pat White was certainly never going to be more than a rotational player. At the time they grabbed Daniel Thomas he was our #1 tailback but I think they knew they'd be acquiring a guy to rotate with Daniel as soon as free agency began.
So I think Corey Lemonier in the 2nd round is definitely on the board.Bpk likes this. -
Bump. Could be a target of ours in the 2nd.
Great combine.
