Eh, the value isn't right, the #27, the a late 50's and a pick in the 80's is not great value.

I think you have to very strongly consider it.

This is the type of deal that will only happen when a team is on the clock.

Moving up to #13 would not be high enough for them to get Thomas. :wink2:

That makes more sense, the #27, the #59 and their #2 next year.

Basically we would have traded back 14 slots, and recouped the draft picks for Brandon Marhsall.

Though I'd like to have their #90 this year, so bump it back to their #3 next year.

the #27, the #59, the #90 and a pick in the 80's next year.

Yeah, they may have to make a call to Parcells before they call SF.

I think it may be worth it though.

This FO loves picks and we just gave away two. I see something like this happening if Thomas is there.

On my draft chart those 3 picks are worth 1190. The 12th pick is worth 1200.

Right now Dallas only has 6 picks. If they trade 3 of them to move up, that'll give them only 4 picks total. Can't see them doing that honestly.

yeah, they better reconsider their trade partner. Unless they all think we are going OLB.

In a draft this deep, I think those 2's and 3's are worth a bit more than usual.

Perhaps JJ is just putting this out there as amends for the drunken rant to drive up interest for our 12 pick for another team interested in Thomas?

Yes I'd do it. Then I'd draft the best OLB (Hughes if there) and Gerhart. The two third rounders could get us a FS or maybe deal both to move up in round 2 if someone special is there. Especially at FS.

I might ask for Miles Austin and the 1 and 2 though and send them Smiley or Brown with the pick at 12.

Good point. Strange things do happen. At least it's not a whole draft for Ricky Williams.

I don't know if that would be smart on their part because they have to know FS is one of the biggest needs the Dolphins have and there is probably a one in three chance they take him if hes there at #12. There is also a chance someone else takes him in the first eleven picks so they would pay a high price to get someone who is not there at 13th.

My guess is they wouldn't pull the trigger until the #13 pick is on the clock and Thomas is still on the board.

A third in a draft this deep is equivalent to a second in many other drafts. The talent level due to the amount of underclassmen in this draft is higher then I have ever seen. You do that draft every day and twice on sunday's

    Thats just greedy

There is another way to look at this.

Jerruh did employ Parcell's and Ireland for 4 or 5 years, he sat in draft rooms with them, he has a fairly good handle on how they do things, if he feels he has to trade up to #13 and not #12, it could very easily be because Jerruh doesn't believe we will draft Earl Thomas.

Or he thinks we might, and is trying to knock down Ireland's asking price for the #12 by calling the bluff that we might take Earl Thomas.

I like the idea of #27, #59, #90 and their third rounder in 2011. There will still be plenty of good players to choose from. I'd be willing to take less than full value for #12 if it means getting our hands on a second rounder.

Don't forget that we have 6 picks in rounds 6 and 7. We will deal some of those picks to move up in rounds 3-5

Exactly. Its the kind of move you make when you have a good nucleus of players. How many draft picks will make it on a talented team? 3? 4? You need to come out of the draft with at least 1 stud.

I think this makes sense for both teams. Someone posted that according to the chart its almost exactly even (10 points one way or the other).

I think we make the trade if its offered. I hope we do.

I would definitely make that deal. We lose 15 spots but gain a 2nd and 3rd rounder. With a deep draft we would certainly get someone at 27 that could be an instant difference maker. Same with the 2nd and 3rd round pick.

UPDATE: Someone in the know pretty much shot down the rumor, responding with amusement when told about that and saying he didn't see the Cowboys making such a deal.

Yes you do that. Move back and still get great value in the 1st, plus recoup some of what you gave up for Marshall in a deep draft. Hell yeah I'd do that.

Jerry Jones trades to 13, Parcells trades 12 to Eagle's who select the player Jones traded up to get, classic burn.

my good friend is a cowboy fan and all he talks about is them trading in the draft and cowboys drafting earl Thomas...i wish we draft him, o how sweet it would be to see his face on draft day after we draft him at 12

 Maybe Jerry will give us the keys to his new castle as well if we ask nicely.

I'd bite their hand off if they offered those 3 picks for the #12.

Since we only have 3 OLB's on the roster I think it's a reasonable conclusion to come to.
