I'm posting this in the Dolphins forum as I found it interesting to see where other teams had players we ended up drafting ranked.
A Cowboys blogger has reconstructed their draft board from pictures taken of owner Jerry Jones in front of it. It makes fascinating reading.

From a Dolphins standpoint, a few things stood out to me:
- Dion Jordan was ranked as the 3rd best player overall by the Cowboys too
- The Cowboys had a 3rd round grade on Taylor, which somewhat goes against the general feeling pre-draft that he was rated late-1st, early-2nd. It could be that the Cowboys under-rated him, but then he did last until we picked at #54, so maybe not.
- They rated our 3rd round picks, Thomas and Davis, with 4th round grades. Thomas was rated as a Guard though, not a Tackle. His versatility to at least provide backup at Tackle maybe means he would add extra value?
- Sims is the opposite to Thomas and Davis, ranked as a 3rd rounder, but we got him in the 4th.
- Jones is ranked a round higher than we got him at, which, on top of the reports that 20 teams were looking at him as an UDFA, says to me that we may have got a steal...if there is such a thing at the end of the 7th round!

Hmm, real problem is Jerruh Jones is a horrible drafter.
-
Does Dallas play more man than zone? iMO, makes a big difference on his position on value chart
-
The Cowboys grade on Taylor could have also been influenced by his kidney issue. That might have been the spot they were willing to take the risk.

Interesting is right. Nice find. Ill leave this in the Dolphins forum for a bit since its the offseason before it gets moved to Draft because Im sure people will have an interest in how teams stack their boards for draft day.
On a different note, I like some of their rankings (Terrence Williams, Barkley, Hayden) a lot more then others (Trufant, Tank Carradine, Kyle Long, Datone Jones)....to each their own I guessClaymore95 and Bpk like this. -

I live in Ft Worth so I listen to sports talk radio all day here and trust me, many here hate Jerry as a GM but love him as an owner. This news has been played out all day on the radio but all of them as much as they hate Jerry making the picks, they all also confirm the draft board is setup by the team scouts.

Keep in mind, coming off of leg problems his 40 times kept dropping during the process.
Fella was a 4.4 sprinter in HS
when he's right..we may have Derrick Brooks 2.0 Deej -
- Dion Sims in the third. That's in line with our thinking.
- So they saw Dallas Thomas as roughly equivalent to Brian Winters. Not bad, but we took Thomas a round early.
- I wonder if the prospects are ranked in order vertically within their position grouping. So, was Dion Jordan their top DE prospect?
- I think they badly underestimated Tank Carradine, even Datone Jones and some other pass rushers too.
- Did they have Star beneath Sheldon Richardson? AND below Vaccaro, Eifert and Werner?
- Arthur Brown is better than Gerlad Hodges by a fair sight. Interesting, though, to see their appetite for a coverage linebacker. The league is leaning to more mobile Qbs instead of run stopping thumpers.
- Jamar Taylor a 3rd rounder? Hm. Banks a 6th rounder? That's just stupid. Why even bother putting him on your board when clearly he will be gone by then and if you dislike him that much, just remove him from the board. That's like leaving a 1 cent tip.Claymore95 likes this. -
Like PhinGeneral says, it could be that Taylor is further down because of the kidney issue, they have left some players off completely because of medical issues (Jarvis Jones for example), so makes sense that someone with a fairly minor medical issue (with regards to playing football) may drop a round or two on their value chart.
Medical issues could also explain Jelani Jenkins missing completely, as he's had more than his fair share of injury problems. -
And still over drafted a Center.
-
Pretty cool to see a teams whole draft board laid out like that especially as its soon enough after the draft that i can remember what i thought of most of the class. I'm pretty sure the reason they don't have Jelani Jenkins on their draft board is because of injury concerns; they don't have Jarvis Jones on there either.
Also interesting they only had 18 players with a first round grade. -
-
I'd would love to see our draft board. Of course it opens it up to severe second guessing. -
From a huge Gator fan friend of mine..........
I asked him to tell me what Jenkins and Gillislee are like and he replied,
Jenkins is fast and can drop into coverage.
Gillislee.....I love him. He is very durable and plays hurt. He can block and catch out of the backfield and runs between the tackles well.Paul 13 likes this. -

I was surprised when i saw they'd had Floyd at 5, if a player you have ranked in the top 5 at a position of need and he falls to 18 you'd normally pull the trigger. They can't have thought he'd still be there at 31, didn't have a lot of options in terms of players with first round grades they could have picked later and didn't receive masses in exchange (3rd round pick). You've got to believe that either someone influential in that draft room didn't want Floyd that high or they made a mistake in terms of who'd be there at 31.
I'm very glad our draft board has not been linked, although it would be interesting and provide a lot of discussion material there are some things i just would rather not know.
