Cowher - Gruden - Sparano....who do you want?

The chin would be interesting. He spent 15 years in the NFL as a coach and only won 1 SB. If he wasn't in Pitt with that ownership, he would have gottenn fired earlier.

Chucky is an offensive guy which I think we need. Not sure about him.

Sparano is a nice guy, but he has about as much clue as the guy he replaced.

I would throw in Kubiak into this mix. I think he is a young guy with an offensive mind, but I think he goes to Denver. He and the owner are friends, and he would be good for Tebow.

Perhaps Jeff Fisher if the owner their wants to keep the QB instead.

I would go cowher, but Gruden intrigues me, not only because he is a good coach, but he has been actively studying and learning about new kinds of offenses and ways to bring such concepts to the NFL.

In short, Gruden seems like he really wants to get back into coaching whereas cowher may just be getting bored of his studio gig.

I've had enough of sparano but I suppose I could live with him if we get a new QB.

One thing is certain, if Gruden comes to town we will quickly amass 7 or 8 QBs.

We can forget about Cowher. With the Giants unraveling, looks like Coughlin's a goner. Cowher said G-Men are his first choice.

Initially I was against Gruden, but have slowly been warming up to the idea. Would you give him personnel decisions or would you keep a general manager in place? I am not specifically talking about Ireland, just wondering if you would retain that position instead of giving him that responsibility also. I am intrigued by your comment that Cowher may just be getting tired of his current position and hopefully whichever team ends up with him does not get shafted. I was a solid backer of Sparano, but lately have been getting tired of him approach to the team. His strength (OL) has been a weakness and he probably should have gotten rid of Henning along time ago. Bringing in Brandon Marshall in the off season to me means that you are willing to open up the offense some more. I am not sure whether they decided to continue the conservative approach because of a lack of faith in our current personnel or it is just their approach.

Cowher. But should Coughlin get fired and be more readily available than any of the above (not Sparano), I'd take him in a heartbeat.

Sparano- I like the guy,he shows emotion and passion but his clock management and sideline smarts are highly questionable.

Cowher- Good coach,fiery temper and great motivator. My only question is how much desire he still has. He won a SB, left the game,and thinking about a come back. Not sure this is a good mix. If we get him I will NOT be dissapointed, however.

Gruden- Another fiery type,great passion. Knows the game in and out. Offensive minded which we need. Also won a SB then left the game. (See Cowher). Sometimes a return to coaching works, sometimes it dont. ( Vermiel , Gibbs etc. ) .

Out of the three I`ll take Gruden. Would love to see him on the Dolphins sideline with his ultra intense look on his face.

As soon as I saw Jackson return that punt for a TD against the Giants with no time left I knew our chances for Cowher took a HUGE hit.

Either way Cowher or Gruden comes in then Henne Stays. I believe he has it but the coaching is not there. The system is not there. Cowher will instill smashmouth football which I love and take a lot of the pressure off QB and run the ball behind a nasty retooled Oline. Henne will rack up 150-200 yards a game and be scared for his life to make a mistake. We almost have the personnel Cowher would want. Just missing some O line.

Gruden may be exactly what Henne would need. West Coast style short high percentage passes occasional bomb. We also have the personnell for this maybe even more so. Henne would finally get the coaching, support, and system to be a succesful franchise QB.

Either way, if Henne truely does not possess the talent most say he doesnt, then either coach could see it right off and make a change quickly probably during camp.

Gruden or Jim Harbaugh.

With both, they give you a coaching advantage from an X's and O's viewpoint

Its simple. If you want to give Henne another year then you should want Gruden the QB guru who would have no problem telling the timid Henne to let loose, I would perfer this option only because he would be the most likely to keep Nolan and basically have little involvment with our defense.

Cowher is the passionate coach we need, he wont stand for some of the lackadasical BS we see on some Sundays he is very ideal, but I wouldnt take him at Nolans expense, if they could work together I think they could do some great things defensively, but then I would wonder who would be our OC.

Sparano, sorry bro but there are too many question marks ecspecially when Mike Smith and John Harbaugh will be strong in the playoffs, and in life sometimes nice guys finish last. GL with your OL positional job wherever it may be.

What about Marty Schottenheimer? I've alway thought he was a good coach and i think he was interested in returning last year.

Chris Mortensen just said that Dan Henning would be retiring at the end of the season, so Sparano may NOT be an automatic out.

I wonder...could we get John Gruden as our OC and HC in waiting...and maybe even Marvin Lewis as our DC after he's fired from Cincinnati?

No way would Chuckie take a back seat to Sparano, and also if we hire Marvin Lewis to replace Mike Nolan I will become a Jets fan.

There's a couple reasons I have reservations about Gruden. Turning to the cover 2 defense. I want to stay a base 3-4. Would Gruden want control? Because that's what did him in with the Bucs, he's an absolute awful talent evaluater. Just awful.

Of the two I would want Gruden because I feel Miami already has Bill Cowher. Gruden might really help the offense. Even when the Steelers were winning they had a boring offense. They only time they were really exciting was when they had Kordell Stewart.

However Nappy has a good point as Gruden might dismantle the defense to fit his scheme.

My choice is Gruden, for the many reasons already stated. I think he's be the best option to coach Henne up and put him in a situation to succeed. And I think the guy is smart enough to understand that he has a good thing with Mike Nolan's defense and leave it well enough alone.

I am now firmly on the Gruden-for-head-coach bandwagon. I think he is exactly what this team - specifically the putrid offense - needs.

As far as being concerned about switch to a Tampa 2 style defense, I'm not sure there is any guarantee he would do that. He may be more inclined to keep Nolan as DC so he work exclusively with Henne and the offensive.

I want Gruden because he'll totally revamp the offense, which is what is needed. Cowher will need a good OC to come in and do that for him. Gruden will essentially be the OC, calling the plays from the sidelines... it's time to copy other successful offenses in the NFL, namely the Eagles and Packers. Gruden comes from that coaching tree and will implement a similar offense. I also think as PSG mentioned above, that Gruden will not change the defensive side of the ball... he is more likely to keep Nolan than Cowher because Bill is more of a defensive coach himself and would want to bring in his guy, who is on the Steelers' staff in LB coach Keith Butler.

Gruden wouldn't screw with the defense. He's an offensive guy. In Tampa, he consistently left the defense alone and kept Tony Dungy's defensive coordinator in place. The only problem is, he also didn't draft for defense much.

And I'd rather have a guy who fist-pumps offensive EXPLOSIONS like 4 TD victories through innovative offensive schemes than a dude pumping his fist for a field goal when 7 points were left on the table without a real effort at it.

That said, I am not against keeping TOny if we get a new OC and add some QB competition. QUALITY QB competition.
