Daunte isn't a bad QB. It isn't his fault we rushed him back from an injury and never let him compete for the job.

 

At least he can.....errrr.....I can't think of anything positive other than the fact that I'll have an amusing game on Thanksgiving Day to enjoy!

 

If they can protect him he will get them 4x the amount of wins they got last year, which is 4x better than Dan Orlovsky will ever do.

I believe Mike Furrey, who was cut, is the one who reported this. Not anyone in the Lions organization. I can't honestly believe a whole new coaching staff would name a starter officially before going through the FA period, the draft, and any training camp.

I'd rather not have either. It's a sheer testament to Calvin Johnson's ability to succeed with both QB's.

 

Yeah his agent took him from a guy who people thought would never play again, to a guy starting on the Lions. He must be a real idiot.

His excuse in Oakland? Who has played well in Oakland this decade (or at least the last 5+ years)? You dont have back to back seasons like he did when you are horrible. If you want to say he's been horrible after the injury that's fine.

In spite of the fact that Culpepper is...........less than stellar; I think it's probably one of the smarter moves the Lions could make at this point.
He's already there; he's under contract. Doing this has a lot of upside for them in that he's been a starter. He's won some games in his time. They can focus their energies on other areas during FA knowing that for now they have a guy who can start at QB. So in other words - their QB situation is settled going in.
We as Dolphins know all too well how frustrating it is not knowing what is going to be done at QB for the next season. I guess I'm saying - something is better than nothing at this point.

 

C-Pepe coughs the ball up like some sort of Qb playing pez dispenser...he's terrible..

Mike Vick on the other hand...hmmm..it's not like Detroit has any reputation to be shredded in the first place, and if Vick wins in Detroit absolutely no one will care what PETA has to say up in Detroit.

Makes a sort of sense, and they play indoors were Vick was always better with the Falcons.

 

Well again; a mediocre QB can be a strength on a very bad team.
They just need so much help in so many other areas. At least Culpepper is already in the fold under contract. He has experience. He's big so he can take some hits...which he's going to get because......
They need an OL. It's better to bolster the OL now before looking for that franchise QB
Their running game avg. 83.2 ypg. 3.8 ypc
Their entire defense was abysmal. Did you know they only generated 30 sacks? They had a grand total 4 INTs
With so many needs yes, I think its smart to identify the area(s) where you're, in this case least weak. This way you can focus on your weakest areas. IMO its' their OL and DL.
I'm sure you're right; they'll draft a QB. I would hope so, anyway. But Culpepper will be serviceable until their OL is set and the rookie QB is ready to start. As to bringing the rookie along..eh,... that's what the coaches are there for.
You know of course, most likely being the Lions none of this is going to matter. They'll continue to be bad, regardless of who plays what position :lol:

Me neither. Except one. and he didn't look good. But they did not protect him whatsoever. But he made this beautiful in stride throw to CJ that has not been seen here since Dan Marino. It was gorgeous. Protect him, and I believe his dumb arse might find that receiver and hit him. Make him think too much and you're toast.

It was a gorgeous throw.

 

Problem is, I think Culpepper needs a bit more protection than the average QB. As you said it, make him think too much under pressure and you're toast. Thinking under pressure is what helps guys like Peyton or Tom Brady succeed. They usually can get the ball out quicker and more often to the right guy. Heck, Warner's ascent in the playoffs can be attributed to quick release. Commentators were noting how much faster he's responding to swift blitzes that teams like the Eagles were sending. To let Culpepper succeed, you need an All-Pro studded OL. But then when you get one, you might as well find any other QB.

 

I have seen more than one Detroit game. And let me tell you: Peyton Manning wouldn't have done well behind that O-line.

 

Yeah it's great to compare him to Brady, Warner Manning even Pennington. But we're comparing him to Back of the End zone orlovsky and the winless Lions.

Take away half the field, give him some weapons and let him do his thing. We're not talking superbowl here, just a win. One win. :pointlol:

 

CJ's more of a weapon than our entire WR corps. :lol:

Also has former 1000 yard WR Mike Furrey and 1000 yard caliber WR Shaun McDonald with a talented rookie like Kevin Smith.

Sure, he's an upgrade from Orlovsky but that's like saying eating out of the Taco Bell dumpster's better than eating out of Del Taco's. :lol:
