But...according to some here, we don't NEED another WR!
-
I wish that Chambers never left town. You see the numbers he is putting up now? Sigh.

I think people assume because one defends Ginn (even if they say they know he's not even close to a #1 receiver) they also feel that WR is not a need.
I wanted to draft Hakeem Nicks last year, what does that tell you?GISH, dolfan7171, resnor and 4 others like this. -

I want something in the draft before a WR. I think we should target a WR in FA. Yes I know the Wilford experiment went wrong, but hopefully that was just a fluke.

I think Fasano is a fine TE. Haynos and that other guy Sperry look pretty solid also. TE is not an area of need right now, IMO.

IMO, TE, WR, Running Back, QB whatever. If the front office see's a legitimate upgrade they need to take it. Please don't turn that into anything other than You upgrade your team when ever possible. This doesnt mean I don't think we are fine at RB and QB.

Why not ask Dan how far you get with a terrible defense?

Vincent yeah, but short timer here.....
Cox brought more attitude than actual skill....I thought his behavior was more embarrassing than he was actually worth.
JJ built the first good defense we had since the early 80's.......but it was too little too late for Marino. -
That's exactly my point. -
Why would you defend something that doesn't work? Oh yeah...2 catches for 38 yards yesterday. Woo-hoo. Celebrate and defend him because that is an "improvement" over what he has been doing. However, 17.3 avg on returns where he barely could get the ball past the 20, and didn't at times. Not to mention the fumble on the lone punt return. But hey....lets keep defending the guy?
Let me ask you...at what point do you and the other rose colored defenders stop defending him? The day he doesn't wear the uniform anymore? I mean seriously...it is time to take off the rose colored glasses and look at the spade that is a spade.
If Ginn had a good day yesterday that helped the team win, I would cheer him. But he didn't and the team didn't...now did he? But hey...he caught a key pass. A key pass...singular. How many times has he caught key passes is a game? How many times has he dropped key passes in a game? His avg on kick off returns barely gets the ball past the 20 yard line. Hardly ellite. However, lets give this guy a player of the month award because of one game. Wow...impressive. He ranks 17th in returns with a 26.5 avg. Players with a fraction of his speed and "ability" avg are ranked higher than him. Impressive. :(
So again...why are you defending a player that isn't working and isn't giving us positive results week in and week out? Did you not hear Dick Enberg calling him out for his crappy returns yesterday. Old, blind, Dick Enberg can see it...but rose colored homers can't. For the life of me, I just can't grasp the concept of defending him because he is a nice guy. Great...I am glad he is a nice guy and does a lot in the community. I praise that. However, that has nothing to do with play on the field.
Enough with the defending just to defend. -
Nobody was talking about Ginn?

...and that still give up the big play. Actually gave up a few key big plays yesterday. Our run D has been pretty damn stellar all season. Our pass D has shown glimpses of what the potential can be. However, Davis and Smith have a lot of growing up to do. I think Smith is getting a really, really big reality check right now and he might want to let up on his tweets about his good time charlie attitude and focus more on how he can improve. IYAM, he has regressed with each game this season. These guys are our cornerstones at DB and need to shine. Wilson....ummm...errr....WILSON! Geez...this guy is horrible. He will be gone next year, hopefully. I think Jones does have some good upside, but he has gotten burned on occasion as well. Our LB's are still a weekness, but that can be improved in the draft and in FA. Losing Ferguson hurt, but it hasn't killed us. However, I would love if we do make a play on Wilfork in FA and rotate him with Soliai. We need to also get Wake on the field more and solidify the replacement for JT and groom him next year. There is still a lot of work to be done on D, but we have made strides in certain areas...especially intensity.

Marino thinks we need playmakers, but hey, what the hell does he know, right?smahtaz likes this. -
Also he currently has the best track record for taking teams from the gutter to contention. He's done it with several other teams with great success and he has done it for us.
His method of building through quality drafts and cost effective free agents is tried and true. That's how dynasties are built. He not only has a keen ability to recognise talent but also has a clear blueprint on what sort of players will fit his system.
He is a future hall of famer who other coaches around the league got to for advice (see Rex Cryan Ryan and many others. Not only do I hold him in the highest of regards but so does the rest of the NFL.smahtaz and dolfan7171 like this. -

Parcells is neither the coach nor the GM of this team...and I think that's good in some ways. Parcells has some parts of his MO that wouldn't necessarily work for us. What Parcells did that was invaluable was to hire good football men to run this team: Ireland and Sparano. And while I think they are very capable, they are also human and can and have made mistakes.

having ronnie brown and patrick cobbs back will be way bigger than people realize. With those two back in the lineup we are one playmaking reciever away from being one of the best offenses in the league
