The only running back that was signed today is Isaiah Pead.

We have approx 15 roster spots available .We are filling them with low cost camp bodies. There will be a considerable amount of churn.I doubt any of the names mentioned will be on the roster on opening day.
BTW besides Thomas and Pead we signed Marqueis Gray TE and we are getting visits from DB Greg Toler and RB Bobby RaineySceeto likes this. -
He did play for Gase in Chicago but as I said .....he is not going to make it out of training camp ......
BTW he is a better blocker than Williams ,Ayaji and Pead....food for thought -

just checking Spotrac as of 9:40 pm eastern, Isaiah Pead is the only transaction Miami has made all day.
No Danny Thomas in site (unless you're talking Miami's opening kickoff back in the inaugural season back in 1966) -

Meanwhile we have Ajayi, and ... yeah. Kind of sucks. We need to smash it in the draft.dolphin25 likes this. -

at least he had that pittsburgh game.

Gase better be a superhuman head coach. Because when you look over the roster at this point, it looks like the roster of a team which will be lucky to win five games next season.
Of course I have been saying all along that it was going to be 2019 before this team will be a legimate playoff contender. So a couple of seasons of winning 4 or 5 games won't really surprise me in the least.dolphin25 likes this. -
I don't see DT even getting a snap at preseason.

I knew this would give someone a boner. Never fails !
all things considered this could be an intriguing signing.... Perhaps Gase saw something he liked in Chicago.
Unlike the drama queens who want to make this a big deal... I'll probably be rooting for him to make the team.LI phinfan likes this. -
Thomas was and is an ineffective NFL RB who was only signed because he was cheap and the Dolphins need players to fill out their roster until the regular season begins. I think a 70 year old Larry Czonka would be a better addition to the roster and he would likely have a better chance of making the finale 53 man roster than Thomas does.dolphin25 likes this. -
Dolphins are going to avoid signing high priced UFA until after May 12 if possible b/c those signings affect '17 comp. pick

Yesterday's signings may turn up better than our initial reactions. With the draft attracting younger players, there will be more players seeking 2nd and more opportunities that are still in their prime athletic years. Other sports have lesser professional leagues to identify players that typically get added to a mlb, nba, & nhl roster during the season. As for the NFL, lengthy OTCs and training camp could be the inexpensive equivalent.
This might also be sign that team has identified methods that have made the Patriots successful. At the conclusion of the past 2 training camps, we heard how mentally challenging their camp and system is. A 90 man roster with less drafted and undrafted rookies seems more likely to effectively practice complex NFL concepts. Furthermore, last season the Patriots received significant playing time from Ninkovich, Jonathan Feeney, and Patrick Chung. It's easier to pay star players when you successfully add inexpensive players that take longer to develop or find their role.
I hope yesterday signings hints on the plan to develop Ajayi. IMO, what can make Ajayi special is his receiving, where it seems he has WR ball tracking and catch radius skills. Instead of the Philbin approach to make Reggie Bush & Lamar Miller pass block and become an inside runners, I would rather see Ajayi develop his route running and keep his running to his strengths, which I perceive as outside runs and short yardage situations. With 3-4 the preferred defense in our conference, Daniel Thomas might be the effective compliment back to Ajayi whereas his jump-step running style helps the OL develop creases in front 7. And with a seam TE and 2 WRs that can out-jump single coverage, an average Daniel Thomas could help the offense put points on the board against division rivals that version 1.0 Thomas did not do on his best days.CrunchTime likes this. -
Since I don't see this team contending for 3-4 years for a playoff berth. I would rather see them build through the draft and retain their better young players over the coming years, instead of going after free agents from other teams.
I have come to accept that this is going to be a rebuilding process that will take a few years and in the meantime they will be finishing with 4-6 wins for at least two more seasons.
I just have my doubts if Tannebaum is the right man to head this organization. Because if he isn't, the next decade will be just as bad as the past decade, IMO.Agua likes this.
