No link for this one. It was on NFL Gameday Final on NFLN. Here's what was said. Paraphrasing....
Rich Eisen to Deion: What are you looking to see tonight when Indy faces Miami?
Deion: I know what I'm not looking to see. Thats the wildcat. Im tired of this wildcat stuff. The Miami Dolphins need to stop with all the gimmicks and just line up and play. They only netted 4 yards on 3 wildcat plays against Atlanta. Their quarterback got sacked 4 times last week. They have 2 good runningbacks, and a good passing game. They need to just line up and play football.
My thoughts: Why is Deion tired of something we ran 3 times? Maybe he should be tired of how obsessed the media is in covering this formation, which he is only fueling. Pennington getting sacked 4 times has nothing to do with the wildcat. Blaming our stangnant offense on the wildcat is like blaming the Rams stagnant offense on a draw play that they ran 3 times. At first I thought the media was under the assumption that the wildcat was our main offense, which we relied on to score points. But since Deion acknowledged that we only ran it 3 times, and still complains that we do it too much; its hard to see where common sense fits into this picture. Last year the wildcat accounted for about 7% of our plays on offense. In week 1, it accounted for 5.8% of our plays called on offense. So how are we using it too much? Not even an average of once per possession. But hey, I'm just some dumbass watching from home. I'm not wearing a fancy suit, sitting in a deluxe studio, or smiling like a jackass while I pretend to know everything while displaying that I know nothing.

If I wasn't a Dolphins fan I would be sick of the Wildcat as well. The media has talked it into the ground.

I am tired of watching Deion Sanders on the NFL Network....many of these former players think they are GMs and once they get to talking with Rich Eisen they know everything. Ron Woodson is about the only guy on there who doesn't make a lot of dumb comments. Neon Deion and Jamie Dukes are the worst.

I guess it's fair, I've been tired of Deion for a while.
I just don't find he has much worth as an analyst. I can't remember a single time when Deion has said anything where I felt I learned something or at least felt like it was a valid point.
Now I do believe that the media has talked the WC to death, but most of what they say is incorrect. It seems that most media members believe that it is our base offensive formation. And it seems that those who have watched more than highlights and actually realize that it was about 10% of our offense last year don't bother to mention it b/c it negates the story.dolphindebby, alen1 and dirtywhiteboy like this. -
Haha, I hope we run the wildcat every play if it irritates him that much....
Well, not really, but I'm quite happy it irritates him... -
Line up and play football? I had no idea we started to play an entirely different spot when using that formation.
-
Its annoying when people say its a gimmick in a negative tone. So what if its a gimmick. Anything that helps you gain yards and score points is a good thing. -
When the Wildcat works, it's the talk of the town. When it doesn't, analysts say we should abandon it altogether. Funny thing is, if Pat White had thrown that pass to Ginn 5 yards shorter they'd be singing it's praises and how we've found a new element.

Deion has been critical of the wildcat all along........I can remember him saying early last season that the wildcat was dead. And then that same week we used it to win a game.
Him and Irvin are a great pairing.......they're both painful to listen to -
deion doesn't want to have to watch deion talk about the wild cat anymore. deion would rather talk about deion.

If we have something that works we should stick with it and not let these detractors stop us......but what usually happens is coaches all think they have to copy what the top teams are doing rather then being innovaters. We beat the Patriots using the Wildcat in our first matchup last year because we really varied up the playcalling.....but it seemed in a lot of games after this we ran some very predictable plays, usually with Ronnie Brown repeatedly trying to run up he middle and getting stuffed. The Wildcat can work but PLEASE Dan Henning call something a little less predictable!!!! :up:jetssuck likes this. -

Not sure if any of you watched Inside the NFL last week but Phil "the bore" Simms was totally ripping the wildcat, much worse than Deion ever has.
I hate when this guy does games.....he went to the Bob Griese school of Broadcasting, I believe -
Samphin Κακό σκυλί ψόφο δεν έχει
I think the first problem is that people put and listen to Deion on the air as if he knows anything about the game of football. The next time he tackles someone will be the first.
Second, I agree, how can something we ran three times be too much? He praises our running backs but then wants Miami to take away part of their playbook that more or less FEATURES Ronnie and Ricky? How does that make any sense?
It must be the money...
If anything, I would like to see the Wildacat run more often tonight...just not with Pat White. Keep Chadin the game and work with what got us there last year.steveincolorado likes this. -
I do agree with Sanders that we need to be able to run our conventional offense and win. BUT, we only ran the WC 4 times.
In retort to Sanders being tired of the wildcat: Deion, I was tired of YOU a long time ago. -
Deion, talk to me when you try to tackle somebody.
-
Deon has always made me sick. And I don't think that dukes can speak in a normal voice. -
I'm sick of how much some people here talk about it. -

I don't have a problem with Deion, I always enjoyed watching him play for the Braves. He's got a big mouth, it is what it is. It's better than some of the boring idiots they put on television and about half the time Deion is wrong, so who cares. Like when he continued to insist the Pats would win the east last season. Deion was one of the most gifted corners and kick returners to play the game, him not being in love with the Dolphins doesn't change that. I'm tired of the wildcat too, it served its purpose but it's losing effectiveness and it's time probably to move on. When Miami stops playing like **** people will stop talking smack on television.

Well im sick of deion so whatever

World's smallest book............
Tackling by Deion Sanders, Hell cycle safety by Evel Knievel is a thickier book. -
Deon just wants to talk about Deon, it is the only subject he can get a GPA over 1.0 on.
Personally I look forward to seeing the WC when Pat White has settled down enough not to overthrow Ginn on that play. However, I would really rather our OL got their **** together and opened enough holes in the standard pro set offense for our RB's so we don't NEED the WC. That is when the WC will be fun to watch for me, when we don't NEED it to get a score or to run the ball effectively. -
Guess what Deion... so far the colts are sick of it too! and pretty much everyone is sick of you Deion.

I think the Wildcat just melted the Colts D. That drive was freakin beautiful.
