NFL.com has some rankings for the Top 100 Draft Prospects. They split them alphabetically into a Tier 1 to Tier 10 system. Interestingly Demariyus is ranked in Tier 2 while Dez Bryant is ranked in Tier 3. Physically Demariyus is more gifted that Dez. I have been banging the drum for Demariyus for a while especially after watching ACC Football this year (Go Canes). I agree with this ranking. I think Demariyus has more potential than Dez regardless of what they've done in College.

He's insanely strong, has great jumping ability, and great field speed. He may not be a burner as such but neither is Dez. He sort of reminds me of Terrell Davis and Marshall Faulk who were faster on the field than just running. Great Balance, Soft hands (that drop against Georgia was mental thinking about the run after), can take hits. Oh yeah thanks Jim, he's tall as well. -

The most overlooked part of Thomas' game is his ability and willingness to block for the running game which is a rare thing with the WR egos in the league today. Working at Tech I've had the opportunity to watch him here and he is a very selfless WR that should continue to develop into a Top Tier WR in the league. JMO.

Thomas HAS to block by the very nature of that offense. But he's not as physically gifted as Bryant and whilst he has upside, he's not close to being the player Bryant is. I like Thomas a lot, but Bryant has special ability.

I haven't been trying to compare their playing because the Triple Option Offense is a WR graveyard. Ability wise I personally prefer Demaryius. He's done insane things as part of a Run first second and third offense. With him blocking for our backfield and stretching the field on the outside he could help our offense more than Dez could. People want Dez but we're still going to be a run first team so we need a big body that can move safeties and corners in the second level of the defense. Yes he does have to block but he puts himself out there when he does, not the half assed attempts we have become accustomed to seeing. As long as we end up with a complete reciever, i don't care who he is.
Thomas is indeed an excellent blocking WR and a few other things I love about him is his ability to go up after the football, bring it down, break tackles and run after the catch. His QB in college had horrible accuracy yet DT puts up those type of ypc numbers. That is a WR that is getting after the ball. The guy is a beast.

Consider this....okay you either do Dez in the first (which I dont want) or Thomas in the second (which I dont want).....if that is the case....WHY WOULDNT YOU FOLK OVER YOUR 2ND ROUNDER FOR "THE BEAST"......why why why??
After speaking with coach Pete Carroll, NFL.com analyst Gil Brandt "got a sense" that the Seahawks will not give up a first-round pick for Brandon Marshall.
This is hardly a surprise. If Seattle was willing to give up even the second of their two first-round picks, the Broncos would have jumped on it already. The Seahawks realize they're bidding against themselves, so there is no reason to overpay. For what it's worth, SI.com's Peter King tweeted that he believes the Broncos will "absolutely" cave and move Marshall for a second-rounder by draft time.

Most the WR that are superstars in the NFL cant block im not talking about how good he is at blocking i am talking about how he is at WR you know like Running routes and catching the balls if i wanted him to be a great blocker i would would just draft oline and put him out there to block the DB and if he sucks at blocking run the other way i know that may sound crazy not to run to the side of Dez Bryant if he isnt a great blocker. for example on the Blocking Randy Moss he isnt the best blocking WR in the NFL and he is probably the second best WR in nfl history
I would give the broncos our second round for Marshall lets say we dont do it in the first round and when it comes are pick we draft Dez Bryant and then maybe they would be willing to take next years 2nd round pick our WR core would be sick if we had Bryant and Marshall on the outsides
if we take Dez at 12, and somebody gets Marshall for a second rounder, I will shoot myself in the leg alla Plax....

With all due respect, are you saying that Bryant is less talented than Thomas not based on facts you researched or observed but on what you felt? You feel that Thomas will be better because he blocked for running backs in the ACC? That he's more physically gifted because he was asked to block for Johnathan Dwyer? That the Dolphins should not take the guy who became the focus of his entire offense but instead take the guy who was an after thought because the afterthought will fit in with what the Dolphins already do really well, not improve what they do inefficiently?
No thanks. If they're going to draft anyone @ #12, he should improve an area of the team that needs improving. With all due respect, I think you're projecting onto Dez Bryant a bunch of negative stuff because you don't like him as a player and you're projecting onto Thomas positive attributes because he's "physical, plays football the right way" and all that nonsense. For the same reason I wouldn't draft a FB this year, I wouldn't want Thomas. The Dolphins already run the ball really well, they need someone who can play downfield and who can develop with Chad Henne an efficient passing game. I'm not suggesting we need to be the Saints, but we need more efficiency from our passing game to progress forward toward a championship. The Jets were only able to move forward in the playoffs when Mark Sanchez played more efficiently, not because of their D. The Giants won their most recent Super Bowl when Eli Manning played more efficiently. Dez Bryant will improve the efficiency of the passing offense moreso than Thomas. Zac Robinson turned to crap when Bryant wasn't on the team. I think the opposite would happen with Dez Bryant on the squad; he'll make Henne a much more potent and efficient QB.
I can get behind drafting Golden Tate later in the draft if Miami goes OLB with the #12. But I personally don't want Thomas.

Ok here we go...I will be Mr. Contrarian a bit now......and this is all IMHO...you watch way more than I do....BUT....you are right Thomas has to block...but their AA is close enough and I think Thomas is going to be a "break out Player"...GT throws about as often as I win the lottery....now please do not take this as I think Bryant sucks (I don't)...but some things bug me about Bryant....he inverts his hands at times letting the ball get on him instead of "snatching it"....he ALWAYS...ALWAYS crosssteps into his cuts....Thomas despite not being "polished" has some Hartline in him..he will cut on his open hip often creating that 1-2 step game speed.....Bryant powers thru some man coverages and at times get rerouted....Thomas gets rerouted into his routes......there was no route tree at GT so he knows how to find holes based on field knowledge where Bryant got much more opening by design and picks.......Thomas tracks the ball much better vertically than Bryant.....I get it and understand you disagree and I not going KB on you...Bryant is a good player and has great AA...but IMHO they are much closer than some think.
I REALLY think that he is not the player Bryant is because of opportunity, design, and Zac Robinson versus Nes-miss.

Well, the way I see it, if we don't draft Bryant in the first, then Thomas makes for a pretty decent consolation prize in the second (assuming he's even still on the board). Having said that, I have to admit I am warming to the idea of making some kind of a deal with Denver for Marshall. BUT...not for a first. It would have to be some kind of second this year plus a third next year kind of a thing IMO. Or, some combination of players and picks. But, we're gonna need as many picks as possible this year.

Thomas is one of the more overrated players in the draft this year, Dez is not. Thomas avg. 25 yards a catch because GT only took a couple of shots down the field each game, he was the best option. If he were in a passing attack and had to get open, without the threat of a great running game he becomes an avg. receiver even in college. Dez took over games even then the other team knew they were trying to get the ball to him, you think Thomas was ever double covered..
I personally would take any of these receivers. They both look good in a Dolphins uniform.

That's pretty weak. Andre Johnson = great blocker. That was a horrible argument and why put a slow Olineman on a fast corner or safety? We are a running team and we need a versatile WR that can run block. Demaryius is that guy.

Horrible argument. John Riggins SUCKED on the Jets and became a HOFer on the Redskins. If he were in a passing attack where he would have had to get open then he would have learned HOW to get open. Your argument sucks because you're trying to say he inherently is unable to learn WR skills. He didn't learn the skills because he was in a system that didn't need them. Throw him as a freshman in a Pro-Style Offense and he picks up on all the necessities. At his current knowledge level having played in Triple Option three years makes him not the best WR for a non run team. Had he been on Notre Dame or USC for 3 years Dez Bryant wouldn't even be in the discussion for best WR in the draft.
I think what he's tryna say is that Bryant is the more polished WR, which he is. Its not even close. Thomas may be able to learn the route tree, but he doesnt know it yet. He mainly ran screens, takeoffs and curls. Well, mainly he blocked, but when he did run routes it was screens, curls and takeoffs. People kill Dez for not working out and for his proday, but DT has been hurt all offseason and hasnt orked out for anyone. He played in a gimmicky offense and saw an awful lof of one one one coverage whereas Dez was a marked man whenever he stepped on the field. DT certainly has the size and athletic ability you want in a WR. But sight adjustments, reading coverages, hot routes, a full route tree etc, he lacking in these areas and will need a couple years to learn the pro game. Dez is more likely to step in and contribute right away because he played in passing offense.

To put it this way, if we take Thomas with Bryant still on the board, I give up. If we grab Brandon Graham because Bryant is off the board and then get Thomas in the 2nd, I'd definitely be ok with that.

I think its 50/50 right now that he is there at 12. Seattle at 6 scares me, same as Cleveland at 7. Jacksonville scares me at 10 as well but not as much as the previous teams. Scott Wright had a mock draft at his site where Bryant made it to us and it seems like it could very likely happen. I don't see Thomas falling to our 2nd but again never know.
