And Campbell over Harvey is very debatable.

He's the best DE coming out and you don't take him and move him to another position.....Gholston I can see but not Long.

Don't know if anyone caught this during UVA's bowl game against Tech, but I found it interesting and haven't seen it posted anywhere.

About an hour and six into the game, Gary Danielson (CBS Analyst) says that he "asked Al Groh what he envisions Chris Long playing in the NFL?" Groh's reply according to Danielson. "I see him as a Mike Vrabel type. A big OLB who can rush the passer and occasionally make plays in space. He'd be very valuable. I think he'd get worn down if he played inside down after down after down."

Assuming we use Parcells' 3-4 defense(and I think this is a safe assumption), who better than the man that's coached him the last 4 years using Parcells' same 3-4 style of defense(correct me if I'm wrong) to predict what role best suits him at the next level?

I'm A Chris Long fan and as off right now I hope/expect the Dolphins use the first overall pick(should we keep it) on him, although I have yet to really watch Glenn Dorsey play an entire game at 100%. That may or may not change my mind, but I certainly don't believe that one game(I don't even know if he is expected to be 100%, anyone?) is enough to judge any player. That being said, IMO one of the things that makes Long so attractive(particularly to us) is his versatility within and knowledge of said defense.

A few obvious differences b/w Long and Vrabel IMO. First of all, the size. Vrabel(6' 4", 261) and Long( 6'4", 275) according to NFLDraftScout.com. While Long moves just as well if not better than Vrabel. Second, the learning curve. With Long, you won't have to wait until his 11th season to see 77tckl 55solo 12.5sacks and 5ff. A line similar to Long's senior season of 75tckl 35solo 19tfl 14scks 7pbu 22pressures 2ff 1int 1sft and 1 blocked kick. Busy man! That's not a shot at Vrabel, it just took a while and a Belichick for him to be utilized correctly. I believe, and once again correct me if I'm wrong, that Vrabel was actually drafted to play end in Pittsburgh's 3-4. If you have watched Long play at all this season, most recently the bowl loss to Texas Tech, than you have seen him both rush the passer and drop into coverage effectively from a stand-up position.

i woudlnt be surprised about long b/c of his smarts, his bloodline, and love for the game. fits all of bellys list.

 

Not that I'm dissing any former Gator players (only the current Gators suck :pointlol:)... but isn't Harvey going to be liability against the run? He's an incredible pass rusher, which will push him up a ton, but his light size and run stopping ability might push him down some? Maybe he'll be around at the 32nd pick.
