I know a lot of people here believes Dez Bryant would be a good pick for Miami. Check this blog I found. It has some interesting information that you may want to read about.
Dez Bryant

to top things off, i don't think there will be another WR drafted before Bryant, which were Crabtree's qualms iirc. -
I don't think his agent will have much to do with it. In Baseball, with Scott Boras, people have avoided his clients on principal alone. I could be wrong but I haven't seen the same thing in the NFL, especially with there being a salary cap.
We may end up passing on Bryant, but I doubt that will have much to do with the decision... Armando is bored.dolfan7171, SICK, Stitches and 1 other person like this. -
I don't know what was "In Depth" about that particular piece. Talk about generalizing. Just because that happened with Crabtree doesn't mean that there is even a likelihood of a holdout.

The logic in that article is so far off-base that its scary to even consider.dolfan7171, Stitches and HardKoreXXX like this. -
I agree with you though. An agent should not come into play regarding player selection. -

Suspended for most of the 2009 season? What did he do?
-
It was a pretty stupid reason to be suspended, IMO. I wouldn't hold it against him, but that's just me.jetssuck likes this. -
It's tantamount to me lying to my girlfriend about being out drinking with the guys until 2 AM, and her not upset about the drinking, only the lying, and refusing to have sex with me for a year.Rocky Raccoon, Samphin and jetssuck like this. -
Could be worse I guess.
Could be a Raider fan  -

To me, I just think... Brandon Spikes tried to gouge someone's eyes... NCAA doesn't do ****. Dez Bryant lies about meeting with Deon Sanders, a calender year suspension? -

Bryant paid way too heavy a price for something petty IMO.
Hell, Reggie Bush was taking LOTS of money from boosters yet.....nothing. -
No one is debating that the agent and the eventual contract demands aren't factored into the equation. But ultimately if he's your guy, and graded out as the best player left on the board at a "need" position, I couldn't envision a scenario where the front office passes on him because of his agent.
Baseball? Yes. Football? I don't see a precedent to make that leap. Maybe there have been instances that simply weren't reported, but I'd be very disappointed in the front office if that's the approach they bring to the draft.jetssuck likes this. -
just a bad move on Dez's part really. He's already in a bad spot because he missed pretty much the whole season.

Honestly there is enough reason to be concerned. Kid would have to really impress the FO in the interview room to have a shot at being drafted by them. Parcell's doesn't like drafting WR's in round one anyway. Much less ones who have a agent who's prone to holdouts.
This current front office places great value on having draft picks signed early and in camp. It's a priority for them. If they like a kid but think there's a good chance he might hold out or miss training camp they will probably pass on him I think.
Dez Bryant signing with Eugene Parker will affect how the FO looks at him. The fact that Bryant did so after what happened with Crabtree makes me want him less when there are other good options out there.Bpk likes this. -
Honestly won't surprise me at all either way.
For what its worth, he is very very high on my draft wish list. -
Don't know why some are knocking Armando's article. He gave three valid reasons why the Trifecta likely would not draft Bryant.
1) Limited playing time during his collegiate career (28 games).
2) The suspension (i.e., possible character issues). And, no I'm not debating whether or not the NCAA sould've or shouldn't have suspended him.
3) His agent being the same as Crabtree's. Therefore, a potentially difficult negotiation and possible holdout situation. Like it or not, agents do get a rep (one way or the other). And, it does influence a team's way of looking at the player they represent.
Add to that what Xeticus said about Parcells history of not drafting WR's in the first round, and honestly...it ain't looking very likely that they draft him (assuming he's still there at #12).
JMHO... -

Having said that, IIRC Parcells has a history of not drafting underclassmen. I know I heard that with regard to his drafting of QB's. -

Sean Smith - redshirt JR

Armando has little credibility w/me
would never set to sea in that leaky vessel
having said that
personally, I know nothing about the draft
that I don't read somewhere else
and all the talk is about Dez Bryant
however
we have several very astute members that know
about the draft (serious pundits) that post our forum
& the Miami FrontOffice knows everything, not to worry
I would never disqualify anyone
over anything Armando said :no:azfinfanmang likes this. -

We can take him in the 2nd.

He is a tard. Crabtree held out because he thought it was an injustice of him being drafted after DHB...and it was. Still, it was wrong. However, Parker wasn't the problem. It was Crabtree and his cousin who was advising him.

Biggest mistake in this current regime's run with the team would be to pass on Dez Bryant. I'd be heartbroken myself.

For the many who are so certain agents shouldn;t mean a thing at all in considering a draft pick, we can revisit this thread if we end up drafting ANY player and they end up missing camp... then not contributing for the first half of the year.
Especially if it ends up being Dez.
Year after year we hear about how a player holds out, then misses a lot of camp, then has a bad year and everyone inside and outside the organization say it's because they were way too far behind physically and mentally out there because of missing time in camp.
Happens every year to someone. Maybe to us this year, hey guys? Hope not.azfinfanmang likes this.
