I look at Jordan Cameron and I used to see an injury-prone, talented TE. Now I don't see the talent, plus he can't block. I think Miami should consider cutting him, if there are cap savings and using Sims. Sims is a superior blocker and his offensive production, despite limited, might get you more than Jordan. And let's face it, the better blocking, the better, especially with this line (based on history).

That drop Friday was absurd. If he doesn't get it together fast I see no point in keeping him on the roster. We have plenty of guys that are cheaper that can play just as poorly.
-
What makes you think we are going without any two TE sets?? And what do we need cap room for at this point? We will have more cap room than we know what to do with in 2017.

There's no advantage to cutting cameron. He's definitely our best all round TE. The drop was bad, but you don't cut a guy for one drop.

This has been going on for some time now -
Yeah, Cameron has been a disappointment, and it made me sick watching Clay catch that 60yd bomb vs the Gi'aints the other day.

He's been a huge disappointment for sure, and Cleveland didn't necessarily suffer from him leaving. Gary Barnidge stepped right in and became a very good player for them last year, no matter who the QB was. I'd like to see Sims take the next step this year, and hopefully he will, but as bad as Cameron has been there is no reason to just cut him right now.

Now, 386yds and 3 tds isn't stellar or anything, and we should expect more, but remember that Lazor didn't call plays for anyone other than landry. -
Sometimes the best option is just to stick with a guy and hope he turns it around, especially if the guy has a history of high performance. Realistically what can we do about the position at this point? I like Dominique Jones but are we going to find a magic bullet on waivers? I doubt it. Under different circumstances if Jordan Cameron were put on waivers, we might be looking at him as the possible solution to our problems.

It is what it is at this point. He's going to be inconsistent and probably miss some games, hopefully we can put things together on offense. TE is certainly going to be a position we look at in free agency or the draft next year.

The issue with Jordan Cameron isn't that he's injury prone per se, it's that he's concussion prone. The fear isn't so much him missing a couple of games as it is his career and the potential for a normal healthy life coming suddenly to an end. He's allegedly got a new helmet that is supposed to help but I'm skeptical that changes the game basically being a series of car crashes as far as the body goes.
I would have preferred they released Cameron entirely and just tried to get a Anthony Fasano type season out of Dion Sims and rest on the quality of your receivers this year. -
yeah but if they aren't going to use the cap money, then not worth it

When Tannehill calls you out in the media, something is amiss.
Okay, Tannehill didn't exactly call him out, but he did have a few things to say:

He's not very good. The problem is saves us $1 million in cap space but costs us $7 million in dead money.
So the real question that this post should be asking is, "Would you be willing to pay Jordan Cameron $7 million to not play for the Dolphins?" Unfortunately, the answer to that question is a hard no. -
Anything on that TE that we drafted? I don't think i've read anything about him or seen him get a snap.

In this offense, how much blocking is needed over just being a stud at catching? -
Rule 1 of pre season. If the vets don't have someone pushing their tail they don't go at full tilt.
I can't say I am happy with the effort Cameron and Sims have put in so far in the pre season, but when the guys who are they competing against are late round draft picks, retreads cut from other teams and UDFAs. Their main worry is going to be avoiding injury and picking up the playbook.MikeHoncho, P h i N s A N i T y, resnor and 1 other person like this. -
I agree that there isn't much benefit to cutting him. He has more potential upside than our other TE's. I think he went to the pro bowl with the Browns. That said, I'm not very happy at all with his contribution to this point. Cutting Clay was a dumb move. But had we kept him, maybe we would have been just bad enough to still have Philbin so I'm ok with him being gone.

we didn't cut Clay, we couldn't match the Bills offer

I know Miami couldn't keep Clay. That contract Buffalo signed him to was absurd. He is currently the 7th highest paid TE in the NFL. He makes more than Greg Olsen, Jason Witten and Antonio Gates...ridiculous!
I simply don't see Cameron get open. He's supposed to have all this speed, yet he's always got a LB all over him. I'd be surprised if he does anything this year. -
