I'm surprised at the Props Ireland is getting when this years draft has started so poorly. Aside from Dion Jordan staying injured, there's almost no talk on the board about Jamar Taylor missing all of training camp from a sports hernia surgery he had. Did Ireland not know he needed surgery before he was drafted? Then he starts camp and isn't ready and re injures it early. I had high expectations from a pick selected as high as 54... he should be a lock down corner.

Ireland may or may not be the best GM that ever was in charge of a team, but geez, now he's supposed to predict injuries and how long guys take to get back from them ??
I believe it's common knowledge that they were aware of both guys injury status before they drafted them. They must not be too worried about Taylor because they just let go of Marshal, a qualified veteran that could easily have been our 3rd CB.
As for Jordan, I'm not too worried about his lack of progress because of his natural ability. He's got enough natural talent to have a significant impact as a situational pass rusher and still have a positive affect on the D...even if that means he's not an every down starter. Remember that's how Wake was used his first year with us, as well...
Things still have to work out, that's true, but I don't see panic with either of those guys yet...toto likes this. -
I've got to say, I'm a bit concerned here as well. We've just cut Marshall, and of course we all know his production here was nothing at all to be proud of, so you'd expect that means Taylor and Davis are going to have to contribute. Taylor however is having troubles staying healthy, and Davis is pretty raw, but we knew that about Davis.
Pretty discouraging when you look at the potential some of these guys should have had to step in and contribute right away, but they've been slowed by the injuries we knew, or should have known about when drafting them. Jordan's just have some rough luck with his by the sounds of it. Taylor... I'm not too sure.
All you can say I guess is.. .that's football. Guys get hurt. Sometimes these things linger, I just hope they get healthy enough to play... fast. Having them both healthy and ready to play would be big for us IMO.finwin likes this. -
Let it play out, no sense getting your panties in a tizzy on a couple of injury setbacks..they are two great draft picks with lots of talent and have already flashed on the pro level..neither is out for the season and there's still over two weeks before the season starts.

Did people miss that Jamar Taylor just played in the Texans game?

We knew Jamar Taylor was hurt on draft night and that this would be an issue. It was discussed thoroughly though I'm not sure if it was in the main forum or Club Level. Either way it was well known that the reason he fell to the spot we grabbed him was because he was rehabbing an injury.....
Heres the rotoworld blurb from draft week:
-
I think people don't talk about the Jamar Taylor injury for three reasons:
1. He was never really healthy. He never gave anyone a taste of what he could do.
2. Will Davis has given the fans so many reports of interceptions in camp, they have their fill.
3. Until very recently it looked like there wasn't much room for rookie participation in that unit this year anyway.eltos_lightfoot, JimToss and VanDolPhan like this. -
While NFL owners knew of Taylor's injury on draft day, it was never considered an injury that could jeapordize a career. Taylor was speed at a position that desperately needed attention and I have no problem with the pick.
Jordan, on the other hand, had an exsisting injury that could plague him his entire career and addressed a position that was the least of concern on this football team.
I don't believe the two picks are even in same ball-park for stupidity.
If there is one thing we can learn from baseball....it is this: Shoulder injuries/surgeries have yet to be perfected by modern medicine. They can put an elbow or knee back together and with the right work towards rehabilitation, you can come back stronger than before you were injured. It is commonplace in todays medicine that knees and elbows can be repaired to 100%.
Shoulders can be game over. -

"Lord, I was just hoping to give him a functional shoulder," says Andrews. "An average athlete would not recover from this injury."
Straight from the mouth of the most prolific sports medicine surgeon on the planet.
Drew Brees was lucky.
Torn Labrums are not the injury I would recommend for NFL DE/LB's or QB's for that matter. -

It's too early to know anything about these injuries. If they are missing the real games, then ill start caring. Dion Jordan would be out there if this weeks game was for real.

We should just go ahead and call Jordan a bust too.
Get out our torches and pitchforks and burn Ireland at the stake.

Bad assumption. -
The easiest strings for them to pull on are emotional ones, particularly outrage and panic. Happiness and contentment are far less powerful emotions.
If they got 10x the amount of clicks on positive encouraging stories about the team than they did for negative ones... these guys would be ****ting rainbows and butterflies. But that isn't the case. Just use sports radio as your guide. Do you feel people are more compelled to call in to a radio show when they're happy about the team? Or when their pissed off about something regarding the team?
It's the latter by far. Sports radio and sports writers get that. It's why they are always looking for controversy. An article like this would get 10x the number of clicks than a one about how Jon Martin is making progress at LT. And that isn't lost on them... -

I really do not understand the drafting of someone that has a legitimate injury with a top pick in a year in which you know a bad season spells doom for you...we have to now treat Jordan with kid gloves...should've taken Ansah or stayed at 12 and gotten BPA...this is going to end the same way things always go for the Dolphins, complete and utter disappointment, sprinkled with some "but he has potential, did you see him in the preseason?!?!?!", for good measure lol

But Armando is just vying for attention?
I don't like Armando any more than anyone here and I think I've probably got more legit reasons to dislike him than most. But he saw Jeff Ireland having a big long discussion with trainers about Dion yesterday, it didn't look good, he followed it up by pumping his sources, and this is what they told him.
