One of the longshots to make the Dolphins roster won’t be taking a shot at all.
The Dolphins just announced that tackle Mickey Baucus will retire from the NFL, ending his career before it began.
Baucus was signed as an undrafted rookie, after a four-year starting career at Arizona. The Dolphins didn’t elaborate on the reason for his decision.

Maybe he knew we are about to sign Evan Mathis? I can dream...

I read somewhere he has knee and back issues and it was a health decision.

That's makes more sense. Thanks for clarifying that for me.

Sucks when your body lets you down. Hope he got a good degree at AZ and has a great, fulfilling life. Tough time to stop playing the game you haven't stopped since a little chap. He's gotta keep going.

Woah! Look who it is! There's a familiar face... uh.. name. :ffic:
As for Baucus... must have been something going on behind the scenes health wise, or maybe he saw the writing on the wall for himself and what a struggle it may be to crack the roster, or any roster.
This is where a developmental league would be a great thing for the NFL. Give these guys a chance to play, and compete, and improve.Fin Fan In Cali likes this. -
