Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Jared Odrick ended his rookie season on injured reserve with a broken left foot, but told WSVN-TV on Sunday that the injury has healed enough for him to run on it, according to the the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
Odrick told the station he planned to work out with the Dolphins or with trainer Pete Bommarito this offseason.
The Sun-Sentinel cites Odrick as saying, "I've gone through a whole lot worse to come back and be an All-American in college. I think I can do it again."
The Dolphins placed Odrick on IR in October, ending his season. He suffered the foot injury after missing four games because of a broken right leg.
Odrick was selected in the first round of last April's draft. He worked with the Dolphins' first team from the start of training camp but was sidelined after sustaining a slight leg fracture in the season opener.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Hmm, I thought he has been whore dogging it on the NBA Wives program?
-
This guy makes me nervous; a D-Lineman's living is made on his legs, and this guy had two injuries there without even playing a game in his rookie season. Not to mention that he has an injury history.

He broke his leg in college and had a plate and screws inserted. -

Basically, we used a first round pick to replace our fourth defensive lineman.gunn34, DolfanJake and RoninFin4 like this. -

“They didn’t foresee” isn’t an excuse, it’s a compounding. Let’s be honest about it. I am, and hell, I like Ireland and think he’s doing a good job!

IIRC some analysts felt he "fell" to us........ but maybe other teams simply passed on him b/c they were concerned about future injuries. Just throwing it out there. I don't like leg injuries on big men, especially lower ones, and even more especially ones that involve bones. That's just my philosophy.
IMO not all people are created equal, and some are either tougher to damage or are more resilient....... or both. I haven't broken a bone in my life, although I've seen other people break stuff from similarly extreme incidences....... and I've known people who've easily broken bones when it normally shouldn't have happened.gafinfan likes this. -
I think Odrick can very easily end up "starting" over Starks, in that he's a better choice for the base 2-gap 3-4. Starks run defense took a **** this year, while he pass rush was pretty much the same, and that to me suggests going from Pasqualoni's 1-gap defense to Nolan's 2-gap was a problem, and given that it isn't likely to go anywhere Starks might be better getting his snaps re-focused on passing downs. -

I don't think this guy will ever be healthy enough to be on the field for any solid amount of time. He is a foot injury waiting to happen again and again.

I don't know it would be all that particularly unprecedented for them to draft Odrick even without them moving Starks to NT. Look at what Bill Belichick did in New England. He already had 1st rounders in Richard Seymour and Ty Warren that were under contract and dominant, had a high quality backup in Jarvis Green, then spent another 2nd round pick on the late Marquise Hill. -

Basically, if we had landed Flacco instead of Merling, Odrick would be a jewel in Ireland’s crown.DolfanJake likes this. -

Thing with Odie is, Langford and Merling both should be up for FA at the end of this yr, he is a high quality replacement for either one, assuming of course GA's prophecy of doom does not come true..:lol:gafinfan likes this. -
you guys are way too down on the dude. The sad part in all this is that he was making plays early on in that Buffalo game. I could see him earn a starting spot if he remains healthy.

In this situation I can only hope Irish has a way to keep our top 5 and get rid of merling... -

-Richard Seymour #8 overall
-Jarvis Green 4th rd pick
They used to spend huge resources on their Dline, since they stopped doing so their Defense just has not been as good, which is why:
-Langford
-Soliai
-Starks
-Odrick
-Merling
Does not bother me very much, if anything adding them so cheaply is a good job by Jeff Ireland. -

Some need to get a grip and chill! Have a beer and go look into the mirror!:lol:
If this FO/HC group worried about the o-line as much as the D-line we wouldn't be in this dang mess to begin with. Of course with saying that I'm sure I'll be dressed down as being a non pro football guru. :lol:padre31 likes this. -

Whole lot of Olinemen busts GA, it is not that they have not tried to address it, they just suck at finding players to address the oline. -

I think he'll be fine as if Keith Byars foot issues can be corrected, on such a longer, more durable bone such as his tibia(shin) should be able to be repaired, I also think the once vaunted power lifting program sometimes does more harm than good. -
