Could be a good addition for the right price.

I haven't paid much attention to Crabtree so I can't contribute any personal opinion but if the below is anything to go by is this really where the Fins are going - dumping Wallace, Gibson and Hartline and then scraping the bottom of the barrel? If the below is where it's at then I hope this visit is just due diligence.
According to CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco, free agent Michael Crabtree has no interest in re-signing with the 49ers.
Per Maiocco, "the 49ers rank 33rd (give or take) among teams on which he’d prefer to play next season." Of course, there are only 32 teams in the league, so the 49ers are an absolute last resort for Crabtree. The problem is Crabtree has drawn zero known interest from outside clubs since the season ended, with only the 49ers rumored to have interest in a reunion. The feeling isn't mutual. Crabtree is still just 27, but runs like he's 32 and never had separation skills from the start. Mar 13 - 4:12 PM

A league source tells Profootballtalk there's "little or no market" for free agent Michael Crabtree.
This is stating the obvious since Crabtree has yet to make a visit, but confirms there's nothing going on behind the scenes that's yet to be leaked. Unproductive of late with a long injury history, Crabtree is eventually going to have to swallow his pride and accept a discounted deal, likely for only one year. Mar 17 - 11:06 PM

ESPN Redskins reporter John Keim reports Washington has expressed interest in free agent WR Michael Crabtree, but the Chargers are "a stronger possibility."
This is the first we have heard about either link, and the first solid interest Crabtree has garnered since free agency began. Crabtree's skills have declined dramatically since he tore his Achilles' in 2013, but he is the best remaining receiver in a picked-over market. He should find a new home soon. Mar 14 - 11:19 AM

I'd rather the Phins see what happens in the draft at WR and then revisit Crabtree after, if necessary. He is not a particularly appealing player, IMO.
Unless they can sign him to a prove-it sort of deal that they can easily get out of... I'd stay away.Tin Indian and Dolphinzdawgg like this. -
Crabtree Landry Stills Matthews and a draftee. Plus JC and Sims at TE. I like it.

PFF's number 95th ranked WR. You can argue here and there about the way PFF does their stuff, but 95th; and for damn good reason imo.
FGS!! Draft a high character brilliant young receiver who just happened to blow up the combine...Chris Conley.Fin4Ever likes this. -

Albert and Wallace were both at the top of their market and we got them both.
This year within the first week or 2 of FA we obtained 2 pro bowlers. One of them arguably the greatest defensive FA OF ALL TIME to be let loose. . And the other is a TE who specifically cited our QB as a main reason for coming here...what are you even talking about?
The FA market for WR is toast now and Crabtree would be a solid pickup who will contributePhinFan1968, Wayne Kjelsrud, Rocky Raccoon and 1 other person like this. -

Not sure I love it. Not sure I'd hate it if we moved forward. I would rather look towards the draft...but we still have a lot of holes no doubt.
We need at least one of LB / WR / OL before the draft - and pickings in FA are slim at every one. Wouldn't hate it on that basis alone...but it would be a bummer if it kept us from drafting a WR as well -

Last year looks like an outlier for Crabtree. I don't know if that's injury or Kaepernick. But assuming he's healthy it seems like a decent risk if he's not asking for too much $.
-
Kaep sucked last year and Crabtree still had 600+ yards and 4 tds. Bring him in.

Crabtree was never that good. Sherman was right when he said it. However, if he's not getting much interest then I'll gladly throw a cheap, one year deal at him. They're going to need some depth. I think I might prefer Jennings though.
