It's nice to get a blown-out win, but even then the same problems that have existed for the entire season were still present. The team left a tremendous amount of opportunities on the field, and could have easily won by a much bigger margin. You had six 1st half drives, and got 6 points out of them. That's hideous.
Ryan Tannehill played a solid game, but he threw a fair amount of inaccurate passes as well that could have had a big impact. I don't think you can fault him too much for an interception that came when he was hit as he threw, but there's enough other stuff you can't form a parade over the effort.
Lamar Miller would be a much better runningback if we had a coherent run scheme. He's really good on outside run plays, but they can't block an outside zone worth a **** and don't seem interested or able to pursuit alternate means for doing the same thing. His inside runs I'm not sure are such you can't expect him to be the primary ball-carrier in a best case scenario, but this show could be run much better.
I liked what I saw out of Mike Gillislee again, in the little of what we saw of him.
Mike Wallace had a good, relatively wart-free game. He didn't put a tremendous amount of effort into trying to defend the interception, but we're grading on a curve here.
The offense has seemingly moved a bit away from Brian Hartline's bread and butter comeback routes, but he doesn't really seem to be suffering much from it. They go back to it in 3- and 2-minute drills in using the sidelines, but other than that it seems a much less portion of what he does.
Unless a quality tight end falls into the Dolphins lap, I think Charles Clay has made a good enough case to keep the starting job.
The offensive line played a pretty adequate game. The run game was about what you'd expect given the circumstances, and I think it's hard to get too excited about giving up a single sack when the Jets don't really have any decent outside rushers, it's all about what they have in the interior and how well you do blitz pickup.
Olivier Vernon had a really excellent game. 10 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 2 tackles for loss, and hit the quarterback a couple more times to boot. He's a quality starting defensive end, when put in the right position.
This was a pretty quiet game from the interior, and a game in which the defense got ran on as well. Part of that is linebacker play, but I don't think the tackles played a great game.
The Dolphins really I think need to investigate what they can do in terms of getting out of the Dannell Ellerbe and Mike Wheeler contracts. They're bad.
I think it's hard to say too much about the defensive backs in a game where the opponents completed 13 passes and didn't break 100 yards in the air. Brent Grimes is amazing, and other than that maybe Will Davis looking lost is the big noteworthy elements.
Special Teams went from an exciting(but mixed) bag in 2012, and now is just bad. Marcus Thigpen is not returning well and Caleb Sturgis isn't a very good kicker.
