the meeting was likely held in a hotel downtown Indy or even maybe at the stadium offices as a courtesy from Irsay, then they ate dinner at St. Elmo's Fire restaurant in downtown Indy, close to Lucas Oil Stadium. I've eaten there, incredible steaks, pretty famous place.

I'll speculate, when Peyton first arrived in S. Florida, Ireland mistakenly assumed he'd placed himself on Miami's doorstep, and (in mindless hesitation) decides he'll contact him in short order.
Meanwhile, invites are immediately fired off from Denver and AZ.
Manning, who openly admitted to not knowing what to do as a free agent, and with nothing else on his agenda but find a new team, immediately takes them up on their proposals, and boards the first plane out.
Ross (perhaps in private) goes ballistic.
After his meetings in Denver and AZ, and what seemed an eternity, Manning finally arrives back in Florida, but before the Dolphins can contact him, he departs off to Indy, with the Titans having cut in line to be next.
Ross, absolutely livid, instructs Ireland, and everyone else in earshot, that if they can't sell Miami, IN Miami, they'll sell it on the road pounding the Indy pavement.

They may have dropped the ball, but I doubt it was ever actually in their court to begin with.

Maybe, but we won't be the only team that is 'used'...What does Elway do if he can't land Manning now, after courting him and shattering any perceived confidence that they had in Tebow. Or Arizona, who is so uninspired by Kolb that they court Manning as well ?? You know, the same position we will be in if we wait on Manning and he chooses elsewhere but in doing so, we lose out on Flynn... I know this is tongue in cheek, but anyone who believes that Manning "didn't know what to do" is absolutely mistaken. He may have never 'experienced' the turmoil of courting a new team, but I'd be willing to bet a dollar that he had a planned out schedule of at the very least, the teams he wanted to visit. Maybe not the times and places...although that wouldn't surprise me either...

I'll take Moore. I think if Philbin can turn Flynn into something, he can turn Moore into something better.

Lol at you for thinking otherwise. Do you even know who Matt Flynn is, or do you just hear a name and run with it? He is a 7th round draft pick with about 2 games worth of NFL experience. Matt Moore proved last year he could win in this league. Matt Flynn does not have a strong arm . What makes you think he's the answer?

 

I am going to be sick if Mat tMoore is our qb next year . he just doesnt have the wow factor and if you dont have a wow factor at qb then you wont be making progress or else Sage or Henne would still be in a fins jersey.

this Peyton thing is becoming to muchof a dog and pony show and is too much like college recruiting.

 

Flynn will be a $25 million bust. I'd much rather have Matt Moore as our QB.
When Flynn lays the proverbial egg here you will be the first to scream he sucks.
Wash,rinse repeat with the next guy and the next guy etc.

 

I dont know if Flynn is a bust but I think your right that I'ld rather go into next season with Moore then give Flynn a big contract. My hunch is that Flynn is a servicable QB but not a star. We already have that in Moore for a much more reasonable cost.

 

Watch us miss out on Manning, Flynn, and use our first pick on a lineman.

I'm fully expecting it to happen. And probably at least half of this board, if not more will defend the move. Then exactly one year from today after a spectacular 7-9 campaign, we'll be talking about how the 2014 draft class will be better for quarterbacks so we should wait. "There won't be any QBs worth taking by our pick anyway." The never ending cycle of futility.

Personally my #1 choice is to take a rookie (either Tannehill or Wheeden) and see how they develop under the new coaching regime.
