I figured as rumors about who the Dolphins are meeting with comes out we can talk about it in this thread. I believe there was a C that Alen reported they had a meeting with.
From the category of "how does that make any sense" apparently they have a meeting set up with Patrick Peterson.

That doesn't make a whole lot of sense because A) there is very little chance Peterson gets to 15, and B) CB is far from a pressing need for the Dolphins. He's a pretty big, physical kid maybe they're thinking about him at FS?

If Peterson made it to #15 and we didn't take him (need or not) or trade down (for a lot) I would lead the mob to burn down Dolphin HQ.
He would instantly make our return game dangerous and he could be our #3 CB (not necessarily nickel CB) coming out of camp. Having 3 talented CBs is not something I would at all be against (Jets for example took Kyle Wilson while having Revis and Cromartie, and those two are/were arguably better than our top two). And if they planned to move him to S or something, while I wouldn't agree with the move I wouldn't be up in arms about it. This is a guy who we would want to be on the field as much as possible IMO. Hell, put him on offense and send him deep half a dozen times a game if need be.djphinfan and ToddsPhins like this. -

There are any number of valid reasons to meet with him.
And I don't think Peterson would be a luxury pick, but whatever, that's fine if you do. It is your opinion. -

Well, if you go the "build up your strengths first" approach, then going after Peterson would definitely apply here since our defense is our team strength, and the one thing that's keeping it from being dominant is a lack of making big plays, evidenced by us being among the leagues worst in creating TOs.
I'd be all for sending Jared Odrick, next year's 3rd, and our 1st to move up for an elite talent like Peterson who could completely transform our defense into something truly scary. Imagine how many games we would've won this year if our DBs capitalized on all our INT opportunities. That's not something to be taken lightly IMO. The other thing to consider is how much less he would cost than previous years. You could grab Peterson with the 3rd pick and get him for a fraction of the cost of signing Nnamdi in FA. Now you can get an elite player while still having extra room in FA to play with. -

How about this for out of the box:
Trade Sean Smith for a 2nd round pick (pre-draft).
Package Odrick, our 1st, and maybe next year's 3rd to move up for Peterson.
Grab Nnamdi in FA to replace Sean, and play Peterson at FS.
Bam, our defense becomes truly scary overnight..... with no more leading the league in missed INT opportunities and no more near last in TOs created. -
i just wet my pants with the above statement...but it will never happen. one can only wish.. put casey matthews at lolb misi inside ditch crowder and then we are really scary

Also, look how expensive that unit would be--1st round money to Davis and Peterson. The highest paid CB to Nmandi--we'd have to in order to get him. Whereas now, all we need to improve on is making the plays when they are available. Also, with all of that movement we've done nothing to improve the area most needed in our secondary, which is a replacement in the near future for Yeremiah Bell.
Plus, you give up Odrick with the possibility of losing McDaniel and/or Soliai to FA. Now, we've got to draft DL again in this draft, where we need to be concentrating on infusing talent to the offensive side of the ball. Also, we'd need to sign back both players who will be commanding larger deals when we could be concentrating on using that money for interior OL available, or TE/RB help available. -
However, depending on how we intend to use our safeties if Jones and Clemons continue to grow I think we could see them playing next to each other for a few years. -

Anyone else have any meetings. I'm sure the Dolphns must have met with players at the Senior Bowl. I'd imagine Boomer has some he's holding on to for Draft Winds which is understandable, but anyone else have any?
