probably...To me the there is an analogy that makes sense..In the entertainment business/music business, you have artists, and you have producers, sometimes those artists cant believe that the producers have a specific talent that is better than what they have, the singing talent just thinks they're better in all phases because the producers cant sing as well as they can..then their ego tells them they can produce their own music, until the fall flat on their face, realize no'one cares about their lyrics and voice unless the music is good.
For me I think the GM role, and whats most important in the role, is pure talent evaluating, now some will say well, you need to be more than just a talent evaluator these days if you wanna be a good gm, and to those people I say.... no you don't..
imo, I really am not hating on Tannebaum at this point, I mean he hired Gase, he promoted Grier, so it behooves him, if he's smart, to let them do their job and not micromanage, it takes a smart man when to recognize the talents of your work partners and allocate responsibilities.
Maybe Tannebaum realizes Grier is the better talent evaluator, because thats who grier is and was brought up to be, and lets him make the calls..
