Dolphins top C Jason Brown's wish list

ESPN's John Clayton reports that free agent G/C Jason Brown has set up a formal visit with the Rams.
He figures to be in St. Louis on Friday. Brown is seeking a deal paying $8M annually after turning down the Ravens' $6 million-per-year proposal.

NO!!! Not to the Rams! And 8 million per year is to much!
I say forget it. We should just draft Antoine Caldwell, Eric Wood, Jonathen Luigs, Max Unger or Alex Mack in this draft.
So much for Miami being at the top of his wish list...
And I would give him 8. It all depends on how much gaurenteed money is in his contract though.
I owe GISH a beer for helping me throw this sig pic together...
Man Up, Beer Down!
Just a visit. Most likely to drive up his contract.

"Speculation has run rampant that St. Louis is the favorite to land Brown, who can play guard or center. The Baltimore Ravens still are interested in re-signing Brown, but St. Louis will have the first opportunity".

The Dolphins might be hosting a couple of players Friday.
Center Jason Brown, the Baltimore Ravens starting center, will not be one of them. Brown is scheduled to visit the St. Louis Rams and NFL sources expect the player to be offered a contract that could average $7-$8 million per year.
The Dolphins showed serious interest in Brown but backed away when they learned Brown's asking price.
Looks like we're no longer interested :(
We may bring in Joe Berger

The Dolphins have "backed away" from the high-stakes bidding for free agent OL Jason Brown and DL Chris Canty.
The Redskins and Rams have to like this, but it's never a good sign when such a well-run organization deems the price tag of players out of hand. St. Louis is expected to offer Brown Alan Faneca money during his Friday visit.

Look at it this way.
If we backed away this quickly, then the brass obviously feel Center position isn't in that much dire straights as some have speculated on here. I've felt all along that Satele's shortcomings are miniscule compared to other postions we need to fill or upgrade.
If Fins brass indeed think upgrading Satele is a crucial move needed then I imagine we'll pick one of the 2 highly touted Centers coming out in the draft.
Brown's played all of 1 year at the Center position and he wants to be paid as a top Center? Pass.
RIP Jetssuck

I agree. For all we know, Satele worked out in the gym 20 hours a day and got strong enough not to be treated like a rag doll like last year. Maybe Ireland and Sparano have faith in him now. I doubt it, but you never know.
This would be AWESOME!!
If we can get him signed, that is huge. Takes up alot of our available cap, certainly well worth it. But could also bolster my opinion that Marvin Harrison could be our FA at WR. He is a lot cheaper then Coles or TJ. Especially if we spend the cash on center.
If we want to BE the MAN, we have to BEAT THE MAN!!!.
The Oakland Raiders have gotten into the race for the services of free agent center Jason Brown.

Al may pay him 10 Mill.
RIP Jetssuck
I dont know how we are going to afford him. I think currently we are only about 5 or so million under, we still have rookies to sign

HA, 10? He'd probably give him a Haynesworth type contract and pay him 32 million in the first 13 months.

Signing Brown will be the key to our off season. Will eat up a great deal of our available cap space, but certainly well worth it. If Bill and Tony want him, he won't be allowed to leave Miami with out signing on the dotted line.
Will take us out of the hunt probably for Coles and TJ, but line is more important.

According to Rotoworld He's signing with the RAMS..

It says a deal is imminent... not that he is signing with them.
Thank you giovafin for this awesome Sig!

Generally speaking, imminent means "about to happen".

Thats not really an issue, we can easily afford however much we want to pay him. Hell, the skins are a bottom 3 franchise in terms of cap room and still managed to land Hall and Haynesworth.
Its just a matter of money vs. value. If we are no longer after Brown, we simply think hes asking for more money than he is worth. I would have loved to sign the guy, but not if he is significantly overvaluing himself.
Done deal...Jason Brown is a Ram now
