Oh c'mon Galant. As a Dolphins fan how can you possibly get our record wrong during this "tank" season?? We're 0-6 not 1-6 lol.

Also.. Falcons are already 1-6. As far as predictions, note that Vegas favors the Jags over Jets with a -275 moneyline.

Falcons - corrected! Thanks. Can't read apparently...

And Dolphins... well.. I'll blame it on my cold right now. I certainly knew we're without a win, but I've no idea why I typed differently.

Jags vs Jets... I haven't looked at Vegas odds. Just went with my gut feeling on it. Or maybe it's wishful thinking!

I don't see any of the suck *** teams winning. I think Pitt wins somewhat handily.

The Jests will be the interesting game, to see if they can settle Darnold down a little after seeing ghosts. Gase is such a tool lol.

The cellar dwellers will get swept this week. Miami might have the best chance to win out of the bunch.

Well the Jags mauled the Jests.

Will Miami win in Pittsburgh? The records show that Fitz has never managed a win against the Steelers. Will this be the year he pulls it off?

Alright, we're half-way through the season and the records are:

Bengals 0-8 - If you feel bad, think of the Bengals. They were even planning to tank.
    Dolphins - 0-7
Jets - 1-6 (Can't these guys win when required? They got their desired QB, come on guys... do better!)
Redskins - 1-7 - If thinking of the Bengals didn't help, try the Redskins... poor fellas.
Falcons - 1-7 - I really hope we don't end up like the Falcons. What a roller coaster ride.
Broncos - 2-6 - Who knew there would be so much competition in being bad...
Browns - 2-5 (A lesson in tanking gone wrong...or is it just Cleveland being Cleveland?)

It's not a lot of fun losing.

So here's some (not quite) encouragement from the 80's classic movie, The Abyss...

    Week 9...

    Dolphins host the Jests
    Buffalo host the Redskins
    Broncos host the Browns
    Bengals - BYE
    Falcons - BYE

    Predictions?

    Bengals obviously 0-8
Dolphins 0-8 I think last night showed just how bad we are. We aren't beating anyone but maybe the Bengals this year.
Redskins 1-8 - Poor chaps are horrible. Just not as bad as us...
    Falcons obviously 1-7
    Jets 2-6
Broncos 2-7 I'm giving this one to the Browns but I'm maybe 10% certain. Just feels like the Browns are due a few more wins on talent alone.
    Browns 3-5.

Mind you Andy has put up one terrible game in the last 4 games. The other 3 were average to above average.. theyre on that tank now.

The Benglas-Dolphins game should be a case study in blatant tanking. Which team dares to just punt on first down? Put backup OL on special teams kick coverage? All out blitz and zero coverage? Oh wait, Miami already used that one.

They also tried dealing Jamal Adams and how he's being a grump about it too. Nice job Jests!

ESPN had a piece calling us trade winners for all our moves and actually going all in rather than sputtering like the Jests and Falcons and Bengals (none of whom really moved the needle on asset collection, Leonard Williams aside).

I don't think the Bengals are openly tanking, but they need to see if Finley has any potential or not because they will end up with a top 3 pick regardless.

This could be a huge QB class when it's all said and done depending on who all declares and where people are given projections. Tua, Burrows, Herbert, Love, Eason, Hurts are all names that are popping up as high rounders so far. The juniors also have to understand that next year is essentially already taken as well. It's doubtful anyone will pass Lawrence and Fields as a prospect in 2021.

If there was any doubt about them going for a QB in the 1st round there is little now.

Another team that took way longer than they should have to replace their QB. QB's are like coaches in that the good ones tend to show it early, by year 3-4 or so, with some exceptions of course. One shouldn't keep hoping the guy will get better like we did with Tannehill or like the Bengals did with Dalton. Try him out 3-4 years and if it doesn't work out draft a new one.

Bengals really blew it too because for most of the first 5-6 years or so of Dalton's career he had a pretty good surrounding cast and a top 10 defense, and he was a key reason they couldn't win a playoff game for 4 years in a row. Terrible QB in the "clutch" so to say.

Anyway, one thing that might help us vs. Cinci in this tankathon is that AJ Green is intent on coming back and wants a long term contract so it's not easy for their FO to just try and trade the guy – who wouldn't want AJ Green as a key component of a future team? WR's aren't as influential as QB's but this can only help us vs. Cinci.

The list of QBs who turn things around after year 4 is short. The list who turn ed it around on the same team is even shorter. Then turning it around on the same team with the same coaching staff puts you into unicorn territory.

Cool. Let's win this one and lose the rest. Just don't want that doughnut. Maybe if we allow them the first pick they'll do us a solid and take Tua so we don't have to endure that mess.

Best example of a QB that turned things around REALLY late that I can find is Rich Gannon. Guy was with 3 teams for over a decade and was hovering around average until he paired up with Gruden in 1999 and became a well above average QB for 4 consecutive years:
    https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/G/GannRi00.htm

Alex Smith also turned it around from year 6 on the same team but with a different coach: Jim Harbaugh.
    https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/SmitAl03.htm

But these are exceptions for sure. However, it does show that even for QB's one would think are no better than average after large sample size, there is nevertheless still a SMALL probability that proper surrounding cast (i.e., right coach + system) can make the difference.

Jim Plunkett turned his career around in year 8 after going to the Raiders from pre-Walsh 49ers and the 1970s Patsies
Vinny Testaverde got decent in year 7 after he got away from Tampa Bay.

Maybe it could be more to do with escaping bad coaching than getting good coaching. Because most of the examples seem to be from players getting away from really bad teams.

I think people underestimate the coaching necessary to transition from great college QB to great NFL QB. Some guys like Peyton or Marino just have "it" and you couldnt stop them from performing under the worst circumstances.

Most guys arent that level though and require mentoring or at least a coach they click with to really have lasting power.

Jets have got games coming against the Redskins and the Bengals. I mean, you can't count out how ridiculously horrible a franchise they are but those two could easily be wins for the Jets. Then again, maybe we want the Jets high up because they're likely to keep Darnold and not pick a QB?

I couldnt hate this team more than I do right now.

Watch us end up with the 7th or 8th pick and no chance to fix any of the flaws that have plagued us for decades. All we will have is a team devoid of talent and another year of hopelessness ahead of us.

If you enjoyed our win you're...

mom kinda with you man tired of 8-10 draft positions and moving back trying to fix all our holes. If we’re serious about winning we need a franchise QB we need to stop playing fitz and tank the rest of the season. 3-4 wins really hurts us this year with all these other teams sucking.

Alright, here we go - week 10!

    Relevant Games:
    Jets 1-7 host Giants 2-7
    Saints 7-1 host Falcons 1-7
    Bengals 0-8 host Ravens 6-2
    Colts 5-3 host Dolphins 1-7
    Redskins 1-8 - BYE

    Current Records:
    Bengals 0-8
    Redskins 1-8
    Jets 1-7
    Dolphins 1-7
    Falcons 1-7
    Giants 2-7

    Prediction:
    Bengals 0-9
    Redskins 1-8
Jets ... I really want to say Jets but after last week, I'm going Giants for the W - 1-8
    Dolphins ... I'm scared. Please let it be 1-8. I'm saying 1-8.
Falcons 1-8, they ain't beating the Saints at home.
Giants - Since I have the Jets losing above it's 3-7.

I'd add in the Browns, Bucs and Rams as teams to root for this weekend. We need them to add to their two win totals.

I have no hope in seeing wins by the Bengals (maybe Reven flu) or Falcons.

I'll toss my support to the Jests because the Giants have a much tougher schedule remaining in which to add another win.

Jests are up by 14 against the Giants who look pretty uninspired. Long way to go in the game, but a Jets look to be having a bounce back game. The Bengals are the team to worry about until they win a game.

So, of course the Giants remembered they are playing the Jests and except for a failed extra point, would have this game tied up.

Giants take the lead as Gase has switched from the quick run-after-catch passes that got them two TDs and gone to deep, slow developing passes. Jests have more talent, but the Gase coaching is the difference.

    Jests win 34-27.

    Jets extending their lead.

    And Falcons doing the same.

    Browns look competitive vs. Buffalo.

Ravens so far ahead they've put RG3 in at QB... and he just threw a pick.

The results from the early games are betrer than I hoped for with the Falcons pulling off the major upset.
