I could live with Taylor Lewan in the 1st and Santreal Henderson in the 3rd. That being said, I was really impressed by what I saw of Greg Robinson recently, not much there not to like. The film of that Vandy LT against Jadeveon Clowney was impressive as well. Still like the Alabama LT for the left or right side, I never bought into the theory that 1st round picks are for for LTs only.

And just for the heck of it here are some players available at each of the picks, that end up being taken before our next pick, that interest me:

Not on Big Board: OT Greg Robinson, WR Kelvin Benjamin
Keep in mind none of this reflects my rankings. Just naming the players that I have interest in and then listing them in order of where Draftek has them going in Rounds 1 thru 5, then listing the ones they didn't have drafted in the top five rounds but are on their top 500 big board. Those are listed in order of their ranking. Some of them are downright shocking.ssmiami likes this. -
I can't see us taking 3 OL in the first 4 rounds.

Colt Lyerla- not so sure about that one. I could roll with Da'Rick Rogers as per the off field problems, but this guy seems to be in a different league, I wonder to what extent he's draftable. Maybe he's turning his life around, who knows.
As per "problem child" players, this former Iowas RB looks pretty interesting to me:

As for the USF guys I don't think it's close, Aaron Lynch has the most NFL talent by a long shot. He looked like a very interesting player early in his career with Notre Dame as he was huge and was a guy that was much more likely to shift inside to DT than to shift outside to OLB. That's what he was, essentially, a Justin Tuck type.
At USF they had him drop a bunch of weight and be more of a rush linebacker, standing up. It was a sound theory and maybe worth trying but I'm not sure the results ended up all that interesting. In my opinion, he gets too upright to be all that interesting when rushing from an up position. I think you need to get him big and strong again and have him sit down and be a defensive end.
He's NFL talent though. And there were genuine signs this year that he put his past character/work ethic issues behind him. That makes me more confident in him. He could definitely be like a Greg Hardy at the next level.
I'm not sure I can say the same about Giddens.jim1 likes this. -

RB Karlos Williams probably wasn't drafted because they don't think he's going to declare. -
-
So why would he come out? I don't see him making that dumb decision. Next year he returns and probably would get 30% of the carries and his stock would sky rocket. -

Dude. I wasn't really asking you. Just a rhetorical question just to question their thinking. -

I think people are overestimating what Sam Brenner has actually done. He's played in four games and not particularly well in any of the four.
Bryant McKinnie has played particularly well since joining Miami (when not being forced to play next to Brenner, who needs his water bailed)...but McKinnie is old, injury prone, and I'd like to not head into 2014 trying to count on him not doing what he did in Baltimore.ssmiami likes this. -
I agree, I keep reading people wanting to plug Brenner in at guard for next year. I mean honestly, do people NOT want to fix this big issue? We have big holes on the OL, they need to be addressed with high priority. -
Clabo is overpaid, who knows how much money McKinnie will want next year and if he'll be healthy, Jerry is a multiyear disappointment, Will Yeatman blew out his knee, Incognito is gone and there's not much to choose from on the PS. In terms of talent and in terms of saving money it might be an excellent year to load up. Also, we're pretty lucky imo that Tannehill hasn't been laid out this year with all the sacks and pressure he's faced- I don't think that 2 OTs and a OG are unreasonable at all in the 1st 4 or 5 picks, the OL needs quite a bit of work. Good year to get it done.

The Dolphins line is in bad need of a complete overhaul and this year features an especially deep OL class. This is one of those things...don't overthink it. If you end up taking a lot of OLs, so be it.
But another thing is, don't overlook guys you know to be good veteran players just because this is a deep class. Rising seas lift all boats. The glut of talent available in the draft makes the veterans cheaper.
I think there are a number of veterans worth pursuing, including as I said in the main forum Rodger Saffold, Anthony Collins and (in a trade) Matt Tobin. A smart value is a smart value.ssmiami likes this.
