#12: WR Keenan Allen, California - The rotation of prospects in and out of the 12 spot during the past few CMDs shows that Miami is in a prime position to take advantage of a falling talent or fill one of their many needs. In the past few sims, we've seen the Dolphins slotted with a CB, DT, DE, and FS. This time around it's back to a player that many fans are clamoring for - Cal's Keenan Allen. The Miami front office's main goal this offseason is to surround blossoming QB Tannehill with as many weapons as possible. While some help could come in free agency (Bowe, Wallace, Jennings), expect the Dolphins to land a coveted college WR in the 1st two rounds. Allen is the

Then they have Sheldon Richardson (#15), Terrance Williams (#16), Tyler Eifert (#20), DeAndre Hopkins (#24), Xavier Rhodes (#27), Barkevious Mingo (#29), Sam Montgomery (#31), Justin Hunter (#32), Tavon Austin (#34), Jordan Poyer (#35), Arthur Brown (#36), Matt Elam (#37) and Zeke Ansah (#40) going in between out #12 and #42 picks.

#42: CB David Amerson, North Carolina State - Who was the last big playmaker in the Miami secondary? Surtain? Madison? Marion? The Dolphins could use one, and Amerson could be that guy. Sure, there may be questions about his top end speed or his size (possibly too big for the position), but his potential for big plays, game-changing plays, is worth the risk here, especially with the personnel questions Miami has at CB. Sean Smith, their current large CB, is a UFA come March. The rest of the group (Carroll, Wilson, Marshall) was well below average. Same goes for those that played sparingly (McCann, Patterson, Stanford). Amerson could change all of that in a hurry. He's as close to a WR playing defense as you can get. Amerson's hands are excellent and his ball skills may be better. He burst onto the college scene in 2011 with a whopping 13 INTs. He followed that up with 5 more in 2012. Even if Smith resigns, the underwhelming performance at one of the league's most important positions should force them to consider using an early pick on someone such as Amerson.

Then they have Logan Ryan (#43), Robert Woods (#44), Chase Thomas (#46), Alex Okafor (#48), Corey Lemonier (#49), Lane Johnson (#50), Kevin Minter (#51), Desmond Trufant (#52) and Tony Jefferson (#53) going between our #42 and #54 picks.

#54: DE William Gholston, Michigan State - The Dolphins have arguably the best 4-3 DE in the game today in Cameron Wake. That can be backed up by his selection as both a 1st Team All-Pro and to the Pro Bowl, in addition to ProFootballFocus.com ranking him #1. He's a dynamic pass rusher and can hold his own against the run. Unfortunately for the team, they have very little opposite Wake, both talent-wide and in depth. Miami used just 4 DEs in 2012: the aforementioned Wake, an out-of-position Odrick, and rookies Vernon and Shelby. That's not going to cut it in the NFL. Gholston was at one time thought to be a 1st Round pick, possibly a Top 10 guy. Why isn't he anymore? He has some on-the-field character issues, but the main reason for his drop is a perceived lack of productivity. He isn't a dynamic pass rusher, relying more on his strength at the point of attack. However, much like Amerson, he has massive potential to develop into an elite player. He has the ultra-rare combination of size, strength, and speed that every NFL pro wishes they had.

Aaron Dobson, Oday Aboushi, Margus Hunt, Cordarrelle Patterson (all the way at pick #61, lol), Nickell Robey, Khaseem Greene, Baccari Rambo, Zach Ertz (all the way at pick #67), Quinton Patton, Phillip Thomas and Morgan Breslin (who didn't even declare for the Draft, lol) all go between out #54 and #77 picks.

#77: RB Eddie Lacy, Alabama

Then Kyle Long, Cornellius Carridine (all the way at #80 overall, lol) and Terry Hawthorne go between our #77 and #82 picks.

#82: TE Joseph Fauria, UCLA

1) It's good to be reminded how piss poor most people are at evaluating players. Gives me hope that other GMs will screw up their picks and the Dolphins won't. Mark Twain - "Here's to fools. But for them, the rest of us could not succeed."

2) I need to see a very good shuttle time from Amerson to feel he can make up for that lack of speed at the NFL level. Else he may have to put on ten pounds and play safety (again).

Prior to 2012 I considered Amerson a corner that should MAYBE be playing safety at the next level. Less than a third of of the way into the 2012 season, I dropped the maybe.

3. Again, Carrington Byndom did not declare for the Draft, to my knowledge...so...

If I were to truly re-draft based on their (often absurd) projections, it would be closer to...

But of course, that's having zero idea what happens in free agency, which makes the whole exercise a little on the pointless side. Either way if I'm able to grab those kinds of talents all in one draft...to me that's a heck of a haul.
