Ryan Kerrigan and Christian Ponder would have heads exploding..and I like both of them, if Ponder checks out medically, but think we should go Running Back in Rd #3, as Ponder is likely not to play in 2011 and we need more help than to allow a guy to sit for a yr.
Then Williams, a SS, Dion Lewis, and a Olinemen in Rd #7, I'd be happy with that draft but taking Diccio would make no sense at all, not with Ricky Elmore on the board and the need for more athleticism at OLB for ST. -

Padre , you mentioned to not take Ponder in round 3 as he would sit and we need more help.
Not advocating Ponder , but based on your thinking , we have a legitimate shot at the Super Bowl this year if we draft only players that contribute right away?
For me I would rather take the best player long term , regardless of if they contribute significantly this year. At some point you have to bite the bullet to get to a serious Super Bowl contender and don't think we do that drafting that way , imvho.
Part of the reason I feel we should make the move needed to get a franchise Qb if one is available. Short term pain for long term gain , lord knows we have had long term pain for far too long , time to change the way we address this mediocrity imo. -
Well D22, there would be nothing wrong per se with taking Ponder, but our problem goes beyond the Qb position, the running game is a wreck and if that is fixed, and the Defense upgraded we can make a playoff run as we could win anywhere, if we take a Qb early we could miss out on a 1,300 yd running back that imho, we need more than we need a Qb.
That mock does have us taking Ryan Williams and Dion Lewis, which I'd love, but we still need a LG and RG and Center, as we really are thin at those slots, even if Incognito is resigned and Garner comes back healthy, Ponder's draft slot could easily be Moffit or Kris O'Dowd, whom I really want at Center.
O'Dowd started as a 18 yr old for a National Title team, played 4 yrs and was USC's best lineman.
Let me add that we will always be mediocre unless we can do at least one thing well on offense, and running the ball is more likely to be accomplished in one offseason than bringing in a Rook Qb and hoping for the best. -

I would be pretty upset with Kerrigan. The Dolphins just have too many needs and there would without a doubt be better players available at 15. If the Dolphins take a defensive player IMO it would have to be very good value, and I just don't see Kerrigan as good value at 15 let alone very good value.
I wouldn't mind Ponder in the 3rd, but I seriously doubt he gets there.texanphinatic and ToddsPhins like this. -
I still prefer a trade down if a partner can be found for that ... but if we're forced to pick, I almost have to think, based on that Mock, we'd take one of the top Tackles considering none have been picked at that point. Even though it makes a lot of sense ... I just can't see us taking Ingram
-
Spending a #15 pick on a guy <who's not even an elite pass rusher> to platoon with Misi?? No thank you. Waste of a pick. I'm not sure how they believe Kerrigan is a speed rusher? lol. Misi's more explosive off the snap IMO.
No playmaking TE or WR? Our offense needs immediate help but they wait till round 4 to address it? :facepalm:sports24/7, PhinsRDbest, RoninFin4 and 1 other person like this. -
The defensive player I'd love to have at 15 is JJ Watt. Too bad we don't need him........ unless he can drop 20 lbs and move to OLB. lol.

The offense needs to improve ASAP, and using our first four picks on 2 defensive guys, a project QB, and a RB with an injury history seems pretty ignorant to our needs IMO..... not to mention, it's no guarantee that a back of Ryan Williams's caliber will even be there in the 4th round. -

-Kerrigan would play the strongside
Why have 3 units non of which are dominant? -
Kerrigan makes no sense at all in any respect. Drafting him in the first would make me take a 1 year leave from football. I see no way that he makes our defense dominant.

Would LOVE Ponder in Round 3.....I think he has 1st round talent...only injury questions keep him lower IMO.
Kid reminds me of Aaron Rogers...
Really dont see Kerrigan.....
Id like to trade back...and I believe we could and pick back that 2nd rounder... -
Maybe I'm gun shy after Pennington and Grove, but I don't see bringing in an injury prone player as a particularly good bet.

I'd rather hope for a better pure pass rusher later on like Chris Carter.
-
For example look at the resource the Steelers have in their OLB corps. -

That is more or less what I think we need on Defense, more attitude, they seem to be more happy with Drones and they don't play inspired defense.
For all of the pinning for Marino, people forget that we used to have a All Pro Tradition at ILB, this is kind of the longest run of time without a All Pro caliber middle or inside linebacker, Buoniconti, Duhe, Offerdahl, Thomas..Crowder?
Dansby is good but has never made a pro bowl. -
