figure the kid should get his own thread since he's been one of the undrafted free agents that are making a strong impression..
I thought the kid would make the team after he was signed, looks good so far..
exceptional route runner, uses everything on his body to make people look silly in his route running, like better than we have on the roster, very good hands, smart..understands leverage like Matt Moore said..
reminds me of Steve largent.

Why Steve Largent?
He has deceptive speed.
Very high motor. -
He reminds me of Wayne Chrebet...he gets open and gets yards. On our team, he'd be a sneaky little bastard...

I don't know anything about Morgan, but Largent was one of my favorite players growing up. Lester Hayes was pretty much considered the best CB at the time and I'd see Largent embarrass him. It was incredible to watch b/c it was so subtle. He didn't use speed or power. He would just get Hayes to slightly lean the wrong way and effortlessly separate. I appreciate players who have mastered a skill like that. If Morgan is really that good at route running, I'd love him to make the team b/c beyond his potential contributions on the field that kind of expertise can help other receivers elevate their game.
Landry has become a pretty good route runner and I expect that Stills will continue to develop that part of his game. I hear that he's been working hard at it. It also sounds like Grant is putting in the work to improve his receiving consistency. The more guys we have that put in the work above and beyond, the more it helps guys with lesser work ethic reputations like Parker and Caroo up their game. I think that's part of what allows a team like NE plug in lesser talent and not miss a beat. The expectations and attention to detail is so high that new additions come in and match that effort. IMO that kind of culture is why you see some teams able to bring in FAs with inconsistent histories or spotty character reputations and have them produce career years.Bpk, 'Phinomenal`Phanatic', resnor and 3 others like this. -

Rayshawn Scott just got injured as well..it will be tough if we only keep 5, but if we keep 6 I think he will flash to good to let go.. -
We'll see how he performs during the preseason. -

when I first saw him I was like whoa, then I said his hands must be suspect....nope..their really good...then I was like how slow is he...well, he's slow..
Teez Tabor imo was the best cover corner in the draft, and he dropped because he was slow..but I don't care, that dude is gonna be a star..
As far as this kid, the reliability and consistency, the creativity he can bring to an offense is valuable as your 5th or 6th guy. -
Did you skip over that all together or are you just WANTING to argue for the sake of argument? -
Ok so who does he replace? Grant? And maybe shift Drake fulltime to KR?

I haven't chimed in because I didn't watch any tape on him during draft time, and after I'm burnt out on watching tape, and the 1 vid Draftbreakdown had, was gone, lol, so I just watched highlights.
Now I get why you're high on this kid Deej, I think you can throw out that 40 time, and I'm not going to get into it much, because you've covered it all basically, and did you say he studied Landry? because that is who he reminds me of, Landry.
I'm predicting 6 WRs and he's going to be one of them, good luck Scott...djphinfan likes this. -
I dig that you see it...He loves him some juice.
I really think he can help us win..thats why I want him on the team..I think he would set a good example for the other receivers as well..
lives in the weight room, loves watching film, is a perfectionist when it comes to his route running, and is excellent at it, has great hands, is smart and tough...he's just slow.Last edited: Jun 9, 2017Finster likes this. -
Not enough wide receivers use their head (literally) when running routes, it really sells a fake. Drew Morgan does. I'd like to see Devante Parker use his head a little bit more. It's such an important nuance if it's deployed right.
As far as Draft Breakdown goes, if you're having trouble finding film then try to scour around other Arkansas players' tapes and watch them. It's what I intend on doing this weekend. Sebastian Tretola, Hunter Henry, Alex Collins, Dan Skipper etc. I remember I had to watch a lot of Malik McDowell to watch S Montae Nicholson, and even then it wasn't optimal.dolphin25 likes this. -
Gase has pretty much implemented that ALL players EARN their Fin, right? It's not an entitlement. So by that logic, no player is entitled to be on the team...they have to EARN their spot, so...
If Morgan EARNS a spot on the team and another player just went through the motions...feeling he was entitled, or he was outperformed by Morgan, then that is who you cut, but on the other side of the coin...
If Morgan is outplayed and doesn't earn a spot on the team, then HE is cut.
All I ever said was that I like this kid, his mental toughness and determination and I'm sure Gase likes that attitude as well. We'll just have to wait and see how Morgan plays during preseason to see if he makes the cut. -
Talk about Miami cutting their own throats!!!djphinfan likes this. -

The thing I like about Drew is he'll go over the middle to get tough yardage even though he's not a very big guy. He dealt with a shoulder injury most of his junior year but played through it and tied LaQuon Treadwell for the SEC lead in receiving TDs.
A good example is the clutch catch over the middle on 3rd down here at 4:38-djphinfan likes this. -
I love the kid & his attitude. If he does somehow get cut, I can already see NE snatching him up as fast as they can...
-
Well his numbers are comparable to Welkers coming out. Kind of looks like him on the field. If he keeps it up after the pads go on I think you have to find a place for him on the team. You cant have enough guys on your team like this guy.
-
The problem for any receiver vying for a spot in Miami is our depth. Landry, Stills and Parker are locks. Carroo and Grant as as good as locks as well. Plus, the coaches really like Scott and Ford. That's seven folks who are favorites to make the team, so I'm not sure how anyone would say that it's a wide open competition. There's just no room for more names there.
The one saving grace for Morgan is that he's been working a lot with special teams...especially as a gunner who can weave through traffic and light someone up. So far he's well ahead of the other rookies/FA's trying to make the team since they say he looks very comfortable out there. So maybe he lucks out and gets the nod....but I'm thinking practice squad at best. -
you can't see the brilliant route running skill from the highlight video, must isolate him in real games...effortles hands, very quick to secure the position of the ball..real tough player, very crafty -
